Shirley's voice changes when she is supposedly "in the process of hypnotizing you", and to me, that was very distracting, and I couldn't relax at all. The audio file she sent me with the recording of my sessions - I couldn't listen to it due to her voice and didn't know how to tell her. With all that, I was willing to give her a second chance, but unfortunately, I had to cancel the session at the last minute. Only to learn later that the cancelation policy is ridiculous - Initially she told me that I needed a 3-session package for $990. I only had one session. According to Shirley, I also missed the first session due to miscommunication. I didn't know we were supposed to meet that day. In fact, I was in an airport when she texted me - and I was very apologetic, but Shirly felt that although "everyone gets a one-time break," I still "left her stranded" - the exact word she used. The second time I canceled last minute due to serious reasons. However, I was not the only one canceling last minute - Shirley also canceled precisely when the session was supposed to start but that was fine... who was going to have her account for that? Long story short, Shirley said she would give me one more session "as a gift" (which is ridiculous when you spend close to $1,000 and you have only 1 session), and she was expecting me to pay again $330 for my third session. To me, Shirley's practice and approach are just another example of what is wrong with the world. Maybe her practice helped others, but it didn't help me in my first session, and I cannot use the recording, and yes, I canceled last minute, but so did she. I was very understanding when she canceled, and although I rushed home that day to make the session, she never thought that my time was important, even though I never told her that she "left me stranded". Shirley lacks empathy and is very set on making money, and that cancelation policy which I never read when I gave her my credit card, is great business for her. I am sure Shirley will write back a long explanation of how she is right as she has already put a lot of effort into constantly telling me how wrong I am. If Shirley had spent more time being truly compassionate and not focussing so much on being an agile businesswoman who makes money out of cancelation fees, I would have never written this about her practice. At the end of the day I wanted my money back because her practice didn't work for me. In fact, this whole experience was probably one of the worst things I experienced in a very long time. Ugly....hands down. Shirley threatened me that if I wrote this review, she would take legal action.

"life changing" is kind of a cliche term that seems to be thrown around a lot, but I really can't…read morethink of a better one. I started seeing Chris during a fairly legit mental health crisis (what used to be called a nervous breakdown). I was under a lot of different situational stress and going through multiple big life changes at the same time. Chris helped me get through it a piece at a time, while also digging into and clearing really deep underlying childhood stuff. The therapy itself is by far the most effective I have ever tried. But beyond that, he educates you on how the mind works and why you feel the way you do about different things. He gives you the tools to be able to keep the work going on your own and really understand yourself better. Now I feel like I am not only through the crisis phase, but also on a path to no longer being the constantly anxious stressed guy I was before.

It felt similar to EMDR but a little different. I am a total skeptic, a biochemist, but had an open mind on neuroplasticity and that is what I wanted to access... he lead me with my permission to some very deep emotions I haven't allowed or been able to feel. I felt in a 30min session more productive than years of talk therapy and months of EMDR. I'm a total scientist and skeptic, but give an open mind your trust is well placed.

They failed to mention to me that the ID genetix test ($330) and cambridge test($250) are not…read morecovered by my insurance, it seems like they didn't try to even run it through my insurance beforehand. Also they do charge no show fees! $150 I came in for depression and anxiety and had trouble sleeping, but she kept insisting that I try aderall on top of the antidepressant. For sleep I was prescribed doxepin for a while but that didn't work too well, then she moved to abilify (an antipsychotic usually prescribed for schizophrenia, not sleep) it gave me akathisia and anxiety (common side effects of abilify.) Be careful if you're a younger woman, a male assistant would not stop hitting on me and asking me about my relationship status, extending our conversations, when I was extremely depressed and needed help. Edit: Had an appointment with her (my final one, after she said that I'm going to need to find another provider because she wouldn't treat me anymore after seeing this review.) She was rude, it seemed like she was intentionally late to the meeting and putting it off because she was mad at me for my review. She hung up at the beginning of the call, before rejoining again. She stuck to her guns, not admitting any fault for any of the actions of her and her practice.
