Nancy originally quoted me one amount, but in the end, I was charged more than double--and she blamed the increase on my previous attorney. Communication was poor throughout. I constantly had to chase her down for updates, and serious concerns--like my pension and life insurance--were ignored. She also failed to advocate for fair and consistent alimony payments, leaving me financially unstable and vulnerable. One of the most devastating oversights was her failure to secure a life insurance policy to protect my alimony. As a stay-at-home mom for 24 years, alimony is the majority of my income, and without that protection, if something happens to my ex, I'm left with nothing. To make matters worse, when my ex-husband said he wanted to retire in 10 years and that the pension would then replace my alimony, I was never advised that this meant the pension was tied to his retirement. Nancy never explained the long-term impact of that arrangement or pushed for continued alimony until that time. Now, in 10 years, I'll have no income. That should have been caught and addressed by any attorney truly looking out for their client. When I raised my concerns, instead of taking responsibility or correcting her mistakes, Nancy dropped me as a client and left me to pick up the pieces alone.
