I am a vet technician and I did extensive research prior to purchasing my puppies. I wanted to…read moresupport a reputable breeder. My husband and I wanted a specific breed, Carolina Dogs, and consequently found Jane Gunnell of Banbury Cross Farm. We could find nothing negative online - only glowing reviews. Imagine our surprise when our two puppies (which we paid $800 a piece for) showed up in our home with fleas and hookworms, no vaccinations or deworming (which they were supposed to have) and severe hair loss due to fleas. When we tried to confront Jane about paying for our vet bills and compensating us for our sincere disappointment with her service she became belligerent claiming that we were abusive and that she was going to come to our home and take her dogs back. Our goal is to get the word out and hopefully stop this breeder from harming any more dogs. Please do not support this business! We love our dogs and are truly thankful for them and that is why we don't want any more dogs to suffer.

We got our 8 week old puppy from Jane in June of 2013. We drove him (Jameson) home to Massachusetts…read moreand took him to our vet, only to discover that he was malnutritioned and riddled with parasites. He had Giardia, Hookworms, Isospora, and Fleas. Jameson threw up heaps of worms after being prescribed Proviable, Flagyl, and Panacur. We tried contacting Jane, but she refused to return our calls. Jameson showed signs of aggression early on, so we started working with a trainer. As Jameson got older, his behavior got worse. We are a loving family and never used physical force or negative reinforcement throughout the training process. We followed the advice we read from the Monks of New Skete and that which we learned from our positive reinforcement trainer. Jameson's aggression was part of his core. He knew no other way. He would attack our other dog on a daily basis and when we would break them apart, Jameson would redirect his aggression to us. He bite both myself and my partner. He attacked the neighbors dog and would viciously growl at most animals and many people. His behavior became so aggressive that in August of this year (2014) we made the incredibly difficult decision to put him down. He was 16 months old. He was attacking his family and we were lucky that we came out of it with the only tragedy being the loss of our puppy. Jane continues to ignore our attempts to contact her. She lied to us about Jameson's health and guaranteed personality. When we picked him up, she told us to water his food down so it's slop. We soon learned that he should be eating dry kibble and that his malnutrition was partly due to his poor diet (but mostly due to the incredible amount of worms he was feeding in his tummy!). She clearly either did not know what she was talking about, or made the conscious choice to keep information from us about his state of health. I loved Jameson so much and putting him to sleep was the most difficult thing I have ever had to do. He was a healthy, vibrant puppy who just couldn't control his vicious temper. "100% guaranteed for everything - personality as well as health - or dog may be returned or exchanged." -Jane at carolinadogs.org, registered breeder list, Mane Chance Kennels at Banbury Cross Farm
