Troy just shrugged that off and was well you get the posts and screen (a special yet durable type of screening that allows for large sq footage without a bunch of cross sections) and here's my price. One section is 12'x10' or 120 sq feet and the finished look is like having a nearly invisible picture window (see pictures.) Troy was quick to return and replace a section when we discovered a small knife cut in one panel that had gone unnoticed and likely happened when trimming excess screen. The only con was his crew spoke broken English however they were competent, friendly and very respectful and courteous while on site and cleaned up 100% every afternoon during this 3 day job. Troy does have a foreman who drops in regularly and helped with language barrier. I highly recommend Stuart's Contracting. Troy's low key but effective work ethic made all the difference as we always felt our satisfaction was his goal.

Kayla, who is the company co-founder, initially met with me to understand what I was trying to accomplish, and what my concerns were with the project (timing, cost, and symmetry). She spent a considerable amount of time designing the wall according to my specifications and helped me understand details that I had not even considered. Eric, her co-founder, and husband drew out the wall in detail so that we could see exactly what the re-built wall would look like. I am not sure if it was then, or when they covered my whole living room in plastic to prevent dust, that I knew their work was going to exceed my expectations. It did, and it is so spectacular that you cannot tell that the new wall was not always there. They matched every detail in symmetry and color and added very professional lighting. Well, I can't say enough positive about Gust Renovations. They were punctual, clean, and super helpful. They did the work right, even when it meant it would take them longer, and provided advice as to how to make small improvements to increase the value of our house without spending alot of money. I haven't had the best luck finding honesty in the home improvement sector. These guys understand quality and affordability, and I highly recommend them. I've hired them to do additional work in and around our house-- more painting, replacement of floor tile, and work on our exterior fence. Will likely hire them to powerwash/stain our deck, too. EDIT: I wrote a more detailed review here 11 days ago, but I got a Cease and Desist letter from a…read morelawyer representing Gust, so I took down the details they contested in the letter because I've decided I don't want to waste the time, energy and money, nor experience what I feel would be emotionally damaging to relive with this company in court. I hired Gust to install hardwood flooring in one of my rental units, which began falling apart immediately, without anyone ever occupying the unit (i.e., no furniture, just people walking through once in a while to estimate other work). I was told by Gust that it didn't need glue because it was a floating floor. However, the manufacturer's instructions were that it needed to be glued at the tongue and groove (which I verified after the install). Because that mistake was egregious, and because of how I felt about my interactions with them since planning the project in August until they installed the floor in January, I decided they didn't seem competent enough to come back and fix the floor. So at the point that I discovered that the floor had been installed incorrectly, I requested that they provide references that would prove successful work of this kind or that they subcontract to someone with references (though I recognize I obviously should've done that before I hired them). They ignored that request, instead asking that I meet with them at the unit to discuss how to fix the floor. In my opinion, that was unnecessary, since they had already admitted (in writing) to assuming incorrectly that the installation didn't require any glue even though the vendor's instructions were clear that it did require glue. They also suggested using a tape-like product in lieu of adhesive, but I contacted the vendor, who said that was inappropriate, so I decided not to allow them to do it. Instead of arguing this further with them and/or giving them a chance to redo the work (or possibly screw it up even worse), I chose to pay someone else to completely undo and redo the work they did. I've been investing in real estate for years and have dealt with many contractors. In my opinion, Gust Renovations was unprofessional and incompetent and I exhort you to find another contractor AND to ask for and thoroughly investigate references for any contractor you engage with.

I hired this company to redo a shower stall. Because they were already going to be doing concrete…read morework in the shower stall, I pointed out two, small, hand-sized areas of concrete that needed patching on my balcony. The owner Chris, said he would not charge me because it was negligible. I was happy that they were a good faith company who wouldn't nickel and dime me. Boy, I turned out to be wrong on that! Their work in the shower was just alright. It required a second pass to fix some lines that were not quite straight and they offered to fix it. The shower was substantially less work than initially scoped. The estimate was for a much larger job than needed to be done to fix the shower. I expected to get a discount on the initial estimate. Chris discounted me $200. I agree to pay him the full estimate minus $200 for services not rendered in the initial estimate. After the job is complete, Chris suddenly springs me with an additional charge of $100. He wants to charge me for the balcony patches, which were two child's hand-sized areas. This was quite irritating because not only did they not have to do as much of a job on the shower as they initially thought, but he was going to flip-flop on his initial word that he wouldn't charge me for patching the balcony concrete. He began harassing me via e-mail, using adjectives like "ridiculous" and questioning my character. This was extremely unprofessional and uncalled for. Within a couple of emails he began threatening to take out a lien on my property. That sounded odd to me, like he was bullying and on an anger trip rather than negotiating like a regular contractor. A lien on my property for a dispute over $100? Sounded unreasonable. I would have gladly paid the $100 if he had been honest with the charge up-front, or if he had sent me a change order in writing saying that the balcony patching would take more effort and he wanted to charge for the balcony. It was neither. The patches were tiny and he did much less work in the shower than he initially expected to have to do. It seemed like he was extorting me for additional money after the work was complete because he felt he could get away with threatening me, or because he didn't really like the fact that he had to do a second pass on the shower floor to get it right. I began talking to my condo building manager about this contractor. I learned that he fired one of his workers who was known for doing outstanding work on bathrooms, then threatened him physically if he ever worked on remodeling any of our building units. In short, this guy is trouble. Like the other reviewer also noted, he changes price quotes in the middle of a job or after the job is done, and gets nasty and short-tempered. There are a ton of contractors out there, save yourself a headache.
