Rv Outdoor Adventures & Cabins - Beware possible river flooding area during rainy season

Don't normally give bad reviews but felt was important to help people be aware, as most Rv'ers are…read morejust simply looking for a peaceful, safe, and beautiful place to relax or call home. This place should be full at all times (because of its somewhat quiet and spacious spaces) but you'll notice it is never full, because of owners wife who micromanages the rv grounds. Mentioned 'somewhat quiet' because there are loud donkeys, roosters, goats, and 5 barking dogs. This campground is beautiful, well maintained, and clean bathrooms, except for bunny poop everywhere that your pups may eat. Be aware there are bunnies everywhere that the owners wife brought in, incase you have a hunting dog breed. No dog park, and a huge open field although she will not allow dogs on it nor to be leash free, even if your dog is well behaved and trained. She complains if your dog barks 'even occasionally', yet she has 5 dogs that are constantly barking, 'especially at night'. The husband is a super nice and humble hard working man. She is also a hard worker but has a narcissistic bi-polar personality and is all about her farm, making money, and with very little kindness or compassion towards her renters ...who 'keep in mind', are paying her to stay there and bringing her income. You're just a dollar sign to her and that's it. She will nickel and dime you any chance she can. If you discuss a concern with her, she will literally tell you that her place is like living in paradise, so you can either take it or leave it. Was told her long term people have to pay every 28 days, which puts an extra month in her pocket annually. Long timers there will also admit she's insufferable, but they tolerate her because the majority are all workers that work nearby and need to stay there. Charges your guests to park even if just coming in for a couple hours to visit. She draws you in being nice, and then once you are there, you will experience her true personality. She's even given herself 5 star reviews on some sites in an attempt to raise her ratings. See reviews everywhere...you will note the similarities in all taking about HER. She will talk to you like she's your boss (not landlord), nickel and dime you, and extends no grace. Ask her a question and she usually takes it the wrong way and snaps. Everyone stays indoors (probably to avoid her), because she's constantly hovering around in her little truck eye balling everything and everyone. You will rarely ever see people out or grilling like in most campgrounds. When there has been people outside, she complained to them about chairs and canopies placed on the grass by their rv's 'which keep in mind', 'is just temporary' while people are sitting out, grilling, and trying to enjoy the weather and RV life. Most people put that stuff away afterwards, but she doesn't care about you enjoying your time there. You do not feel at home here nor like you can enjoy the beauty of the campground. *MOST IMPORTANTLY: BEWARE OF THE WATER!!! She will tell you there is nothing wrong with her water, yet even with having an amazing and brand new filter system in our RV, I experienced a horrific bacterial infection that lasted weeks, required medical attention, and antibiotics. It also yellows everything in your RV. Please see other reviews in other sites that also mention the water issue. Also be aware the river floods over during rainy season so best not to get a spot right next to the river during that time of year. Huge mistake! Could go on and on about the unfortunate bad experiences here, but have pointed out the just of it.

Martin's Dock - Lake Sacajawea

Martin's Dock - Lake Sacajawea

Beautiful, relaxing, peaceful spot…read more My husband and I visited this dock 2 days ago after going to my Grandmother's 90th Birthday Party in the area. There is a bronzed statue of Sacajawea near the bridge by this dock. The autumn foliage here is just breathtaking - bright yellows, brilliant oranges, and cranberry reds - and there are lilypads *everywhere* which really add to the beauty of the place. The dock itself is a mostly-rectangular-shaped, with slanted corners, and it is about 20 - 30 feet wide and about 15 - 20 feet long. From the dock, you can see glorious amounts of lilypads, a good section of the lake, a proud tall fountain that emerges from the center of the lake, the bridge to your right (about a 2-minite walk from the dock), and lots and lots of trees. Off in the distance behind the dock, there's a playground, which was full of happy kids playing in it on the Saturday that we visited. There were quite a few people out at the lake itself this past Saturday, however, it never felt crowded, and we were the only two people on the dock itself. There are no benches on the actual dock, but there's a nice park bench very close to it. I have some memories of Lake Sacajawea from when I was much younger, since I have family in this area, but I hadn't been there in many years until this past weekend. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. It's a lovely place to chill for a while or take a short stroll.

This is an awesome place! Just a beautiful, bright spot in the middle of town. Enjoy picnics,…read morewalks, fish off the dock or bring your kids or grandkids to the park.

My buddy told me catching bass would be nice as usual but he wanted wanted to go bigger this time as in salmon which is something I know nothing about. I looked at a few different sites for a guide service, and the one I easily selected was Legal Limit Outdoors. I was instantly impressed when the owner David Taber told me he would get us on some fish and that he would also like to give us a military discount. The photos on his web site also looked pretty promising for catching nice sized fish and having fun while doing it! After booking with David he called and provided multiple follow ups before our trip. This was only the start of his sincere kindness, courtesy, and true appreciation for his clients. This kindness continued throughout our trip today. David I learned is not only a veteran himself but a kind hearted guide who loves what he does and he wants you to enjoy your experience even more! He not only got us on the fish but we were the only boat out of about 5 in our area to catch anything. When I say anything I mean multiple Salmon ranging from 15-40 lbs. While no one else near us caught anything we got hook up after hook up. When we were all done for the day David even cleaned all of our fish afterwards. David has fished the Columbia River for decades and if you are looking for a guide with experience and the ability to teach people of all levels from beginner to expert, he is your guy! David if you see this I want to say not only thank you for getting us on the fish, but thanks for the photos and memories that will last a lifetime!

We had a great time. He has a perfect boat for the river, and knew exactly where the Sturgeon were that would be good for us to catch (not too big and not too small). We pulled in about 10 of them during the hours we were out. My daughter had a blast and we learned a good amount of the river and the fish. Would recommend no problem.

Horning's Hideout - Rained out

Horning's Hideout

A hideout indeed! Google maps and pics do not properly show the enormity of this place. I came…read morehere a couple of months ago for disc golf, but there was way more to be discovered here then I had thought. Here's a little bit about Horning's Hideout: = Just Getting Here = Be aware that once you drive off the main road, you'll see the signs to the hideout, but it's all gravel and tall trees from there. From the main sign, the drive heads downward, winding through the forest, down the canyon. Similar to that of driving to Pittock Mansion, only unpaved and narrower turns. So please proceed with caution. Once at the bottom, it opens up to a pleasant little valley. = Parking and Fee = Past the barn, to your right is the parking area. It's an open field. Pay at the parking station, $5 per person. = Features & Activities = * For fishing, I had inquired at the office. Once you park, there is a house or an information office just above the parking station. The lady (or owner) was helpful as she explained to me the lay of the land. Again, this place was way larger than I had imagined. But back to fishing... There is a lake that gets stocked with trout. No fishing license required. Assuming due to this being private land. You do pay a catch/cleaning fee. They also have fly-fishing during the winter through spring season. More details on their website. I did notice they've got paddle boats as well. So, forget the stupid ipad, and keep the kids busy with fishing and paddle boating! * For disc golf, there are three huge courses. One, only being par 3's. Which to me was like a good hike, yet still challenging. A medium course that's par 3's and 4's through the canyon that's said to be scenic. I have yet to try it. And a championship course with par 5's; Difficult greens around trees, and a U-turn. Someday, but not any time soon! * As for the wedding venues, I can only imagine, but there are three venues to use depending on your wedding party size. Can you envision your wedding photos or even your reception being close to a pond, a lake, a creek, or even a waterfall, with trees all around? Yeah, that's this place! Oh yeah, and with peacocks too! * Camping is also allowed as well. Reservations required of course. * And as you can see with the yelp photos, they occasionally have concerts which I though was really cool. Well, that just about sums it up, not sure what else to say. It's just a secluded place worth checking out. Especially if you need to escape some city life.

An Absolutely Beautiful place for a wedding. My son and daughter in law chose the lakeside venue…read more We were blessed with a wonderful day weather wise. It had forecasted to rain but luckily it held off until the following day. It would have been a totally different event had it rained. I do wish there was a way of getting around having to walk in gravel but unless they pave it there is no getting around that. So guests were told ahead of time to be aware of that. Different chairs were rented rather than the plastic ones that are provided which was a nice thing. Extra hanging lights were rented and hung up by the brides father. It made a big difference and I think the venue should consider investing in adding them permanently.
