The entire staff is beyond wonderful from the people who greet you in the office, to Heather who is an absolute peach, to Dr. Black. Everytime I see him we talk about random things and I feel no anxiety even when I'm getting a double root canal during Covid. This office is an absolute blessing and I highly highly recommend.

My most recent experiences have left me feeling like the focus has shifted to making money rather than patient care. I was repeatedly asked if I wanted quotes for cosmetic procedures, followed by ongoing calls trying to sell those services. Two months ago, I canceled my upcoming appointment and informed the office I would be finding a new dentist. Then I received a bill for $800 with no listed services. When I called, I was told the bill wasn't even mine--it belonged to my adult daughter, who has her own insurance. This is extremely concerning. Not only does it feel inappropriate (if not potentially illegal), but it raises the question of how many people might unknowingly pay bills that aren't theirs. I attempted multiple times to reach the billing department and received no response. When I finally got through by selecting the "pay bills" option, the issue was not treated with any urgency or concern. I was simply told they would notify a manager and attempt to contact my daughter for payment. My daughter later called and was told this bill could impact her credit--even though she had never received it. This entire situation has been frustrating, concerning, and completely unacceptable.

This most recent time, after they had called to reschedule me, I show up on time and they tell me I'm not in the system and asked me if I had rescheduled. After explaining it was THEM that rescheduled they tell me it will be 2 hours. They ask if I live far away and I tell them I do. So they call a hygienist to see if they are going to come in today. After they get an answer they call another patient and tell them to come in 30 minutes later this afternoon. Then they tell me they will see me in 30-45 minutes. I think they need to invest in some more hygienists and a scheduler.

While I have always found the front desk staff and dental hygienists incredibly friendly, the office business practices and my overall experience surrounding a dental crown left me unsatisfied with my care and a new anxiety around visiting the dentist. 1. Many people have mentioned their up front billing methods and constant attempts to upsell patients. While I cannot confirm that I was specifically overbilled for any procedure, I did feel like I constantly was having services pushed on me for extra fees. I also noticed at a certain point they stopped asking me about a flouride treatment that was an additional fee and just started completing the treatment and asking for payment. While this wasn't a massive strain on my finances at the time, it could really cause issues for patients who are on strict budgets from month to month. 2. I had a crown put on in March of 2021, in October of 2023 the crown fell out while on vacation out of state. I was able to book quickly to have the crown put back in but was frustrated with the brushing off my concerns around how quickly it seemed to have issues. When I returned for my normal cleaning a few months later I expressed my anxiety and fear of the crown falling out again and my concern about flossing around the crown pulling it out. I felt the doctor dismissed my concerns without any real empathy and I left the office without feeling at ease about this. 3. When I was without dental insurance for a time and was not able to afford a visit due to strained finances they did offer me their insurance plan which was more than the cost of the cleaning. I'm not sure why they thought I could afford that but not the cleaning. They continued to refer to this and all of their services as an "investment" which for me personally felt gross (though this could be a petty complaint on my end). I have since been able to return to my longtime dentist and am much happier. I do NOT recommend this office, but I do sincerely hope their services and practices improve for the sake of their patients and staff.

The front staff was very friendly and all three spoke as soon as I walked in the door. They were very welcoming. My hygienist (Cathy) was very pleasant and did a great job cleaning my teeth. Dr. Cornish was my dentist. She was very friendly and put a permanent filling in for me. She was GREAT!!! She talked and was very friendly and made me feel at home. She ask if I had any questions and told me not to hesitste to call if anything came up before my next cleaning. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a clean, professional, friendly dentist!! P.S. The comfort dog was off today. Hopefully, he will be there next time....

It's run by a husband & wife team of Dr. Kim and Dr. Ma, so it felt good knowing that I was supporting a local business instead of some corporate franchise. The person at the front desk (I think her name was Niki) was very helpful when I was filling out my forms and explained to me what was covered through my UofM grad student insurance, along with other logistics related things. I'm usually not good with paperwork, so her help was very much appreciated! After the initial examination, I learned that I had a filling that came loose and some minor gingivitis (which was expected since my teeth have been bothering me for a while now), and Dr. Ma explained her treatment plan for me in a way that I could actually understand. I should mention that I usually get very anxious when it comes to dentists, but Dr. Ma's gentle approach helped alleviate some of that anxiety. Oh yeah, and the hygienist was super thorough. Like, it felt like she got to parts of my mouth that I didn't even know existed. Quick Edit: my boyfriend recently went to Choice Dental after I pestered him about his dental health situation. He's just as weary of dentists as I am, so I was really relieved when he told me that he had a good experience with Dr. Kim. And when he says anything positive about any kind of doctor, he REALLY sincerely means it. So all in all I'd highly recommend Choice Dental to anyone looking for a dentist in the Ann Arbor area.

A chain (message me if you want to avoid them) that would always cancel your approintments the week of, offering you an appointment you couldn't make or an appointment 5 months off. And everytime you'd go, different dentist. Nice. So, when I changed jobs, my wife and I looked for a new dentist. Little researcher that she is, she found Dr. Choi at Choice Dental, which is on South Main just across from the stadium in that office building with the parking underneath. Not only is the office pleasant and the staff very friendly and competant, but the service is just outstanding. Everytime I'd turn around, he'd have something new and techy, from the tiny camera he used to take pics of my teeth so I could see what was going on to the program he used to show my how my teeth were going to move. Better yet, when I went for my cleaning, the DENTIST did the whole cleaning. Not a 2 minute consult. The WHOLE cleaning. Long story short, this dentist will make you feel like you're back in time, with a dentist who's good at what he does and actually gives a damn about you. Old school. I asked, and they take pretty much all types of insurance (Delta, BCBS, United Concordia, Guardian, MetLife, Dentamax, AETNA and Cigna). You can also e-mail them at info@choicesmile.com.
