    Supposedly nachos

I called to order nachos with extra queso for pickup and pictured above is what I received. This is not queso, which is melted cheese dip/sauce and chili peppers. This is shredded Mexican cheese that's been microwaved on tortilla chips, which made the chips flimsy. If a Mexican restaurant can't get an order as simple as nachos correct, then the rest of the menu is not worth trying, in my opinion.

The food here is always good. I get the half chicken half steak fajitas burrito. The place is family owned I think and it's a lot of space inside. There's an upstairs and downstairs. They always have a drink special menu. The service is ok, I walked in and no one greeted me but I chalk that to the language barrier. I come here usually on weekdays or nights so I'm not sure how the night life is but I assume jumpin considering its on Georgia ave.

An outpost of the original Haydee's in Mt. Pleasant spread out over three floors (basement, main floor and interior balcony) with a small bar and festive decor. Good margarita's and better than average Mexican/Salvadoran Cuisine. A nice addition to the Brightwood/Manor Park area, and certainly more accesible to the the average gringo than Serengeti across the street. They recently changed their license from restaurant to tavern with an entertainment endorsement for live music, so I'm not sure how that's going to play out.

Small but fun atmosphere. Nice bar. Waitstaff was great. Delicious fajitas. Looks a little dive-y from the outside but we found it clean and pleasant. Parking on street right in front of restaurant. 2 entrees, free chips and fresh salsa, a soda and 2 beers for under 40 bucks. I had plenty of fajitas leftover to bring home.

Food was soooo good. More than I could finish and the Margaritas snuck up on us. $5 per maragrita is unbeleivable and 'well made'. :-)

Been here a few times now and I really want to like it but the food is just not very good quality. The wings were particularly awful

The best Mexican food I've ever had. I always refer people to this business. I love Carmen and her sister Haydees.

Getting there at 4pm meant a $1 agave margarita, then at 4:30pm a $2 one, etc. You just had to step through some snow and ice-covered sidewalks and streets first. It was like a human maze, thanks to the DC's lack of snow plowing progress. It had been a while since I had been to Republic Cantina. It's actually several blocks from the NoMa metro, so it is not a long walk at all. A warm welcome inside was followed by quick service with the margarita, chips and salsa, and finally the Queso Compuesto, which was on the regular happy hour menu for $8. It was really elevated queso with meat, guac, and pico de gallo added on top. It was a great complement to the margarita. Past 4:30pm, more crowds started to show up to take advantage of the still amazing deal. I would describe the atmosphere as a cozy space to share with friends in the booth and even on your own at the bar.

However, the waitress was excellent with providing order recommendations and ensuring that we were taken care of. Drinks: I ordered the ranch water which wasn't anything spectacular. Just a simple non-sugary drink to enjoy while dining. I opted out of the fajitas but the rest of my party loved the steak and shrimp fajitas, which were part of the fajitas 2 deal. Plenty to share and I heard that the steak was cooked to perfection and the shrimp was seasoned well. I ordered the taco salad and that dish was PHENOMENAL! There is something to be said about a wet salad which manages to hold some crunchy texture to the taco strips. Also, it was perfectly chopped and all ingredients were mixed together so well. To complete the dish, I ordered a side of rice and chicken. Both were delicious but the chicken portion could use some work. Overall I'm curious to try their breakfast tacos so count me in on returning! They also offer a great happy hour so I recommend stopping by to enjoy their bar or even their cute outdoor seating.

Took me about 30 minute to get a spot on a residential street. Line was slightly out the door but line moved fast. Got the 7 tacos (2x956, 2xLa Choripapa, 1xSuper Migas, 1xSuper Duper Migas, 1x512) and 2 dirty horchata. Came out in about 5 minutes. Not much indoor seating but I believe they had an upstairs section too. Tacos lived up to the hype. Pretty good size tacos with the right amount of filling. Tortillas were perfect. Salsas were good, especially that cilantro crema. Despite the tough parking situation I would definitely come back.

They'd be good to take on a work day but it's Saturday and I'm enjoying them at home with some coffee. Since I can't remark on the ambiance, having never seen the restaurant I just share where it takes me to when I taste. The tortilla is unique, probably handmade and tightly wrapped around the filling. I am reminded of the San Antonio river walk. It wasn't wet or juicy by the time I got it, maybe they are right out of the kitchen but, it was not dry either. The eggs were jiggly and bacon bits added salty savory texture. I dripped red sauce on every bite and enjoyed them a little bit spicy.

Fair sized joint with a smallish patio out front. Having perused the menu on the way, I was looking to try something just beyond "staple of cheap Mexican." But truth be told, it's standard Mexican fare made with breakfast ingredients. No more description necessary - you've had this before and you'll have it again.
