In 03/2022, my son was subjected to a distressing situation under her watch, which has left me utterly appalled by her lack of responsibility and disregard for student safety. This is a review I have been meaning to post. First and foremost, I entrusted the school and its staff with the well-being of my child. However, my son was denied entry into the after-school program under Mrs. DeNardo's supervision. As both my spouse and I were occupied with work commitments, our son was left in a vulnerable position, as he had to walk home after he was denied entry. Shockingly, instead of providing adequate supervision or notifying us of the situation, Mrs. DeNardo inexplicably allowed my son to leave the premises unsupervised. This flagrant disregard for basic safety protocols is simply inexcusable and deeply troubling. Despite the gravity of the incident, my attempts to address the matter with Mrs. DeNardo were met with indifference and dismissiveness. Not only did she fail to express any remorse or concern for the well-being of my child, but she also displayed a complete lack of accountability for her actions. She read my last message as you can see in my screenshot, and never replied. Furthermore, the absence of any meaningful follow-up or reassurance from the school administration further underscores the systemic failures in ensuring student safety and parental trust. It is my sincere hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for other parents and prompts the necessary reforms to prevent such egregious lapses in supervision from occurring in the future. Our children deserve better.

I tried to teach him at home and my son had absolutely no interest - which gets into another whole analysis with learning disorders and what not.. He dropped out 6 times!!!! I explained to my son, you have to learn your ABC's and how to count to 10. He graduated! Then started kindergarten, and had a very hard time. In second grade the school recommended to transfer him to public school For free additional help (Now I believe WCS can accommodate more with disorders in kids as I believe they have an onsite program to assist better). I did send my child to a public school, and he was depressed for the entire 3 years! I worked hard during the recession and told my husband I am placing our child back at Western. And as Soon as I told our son, there was a sense of hope. He returned in sixth grade and graduated high school. Today he is an IT Tech for a mortgage company and has a heart that is open to life with non--judgment. He's trying to figure out how to make this world a better place. If anyone ever wanted to reach out and hear my story, I am willing to talk to you in person through WCS.. But he survived because I put him back at Western and he met his lifelong friends that he still relates with today as life-long friends

I appreciate that they are open to hearing concerns and adjusting the program to make it more enjoyable and productive for the students. Monica has done an amazing job at implementing these changes and she has been so professional and courteous. I'm hoping that in time, more of the activities mentioned such as STEM and the arts are added as well. One issue that my kids have is that they state it can get rather noisy during homework time which impacts their ability to get it completed. Aside from this, they are generally happier with the changes.

We felt it right when we spoke with MsEmily for the first time way back in 2018. We were on the waitlist for a very longtime but the moment they called me to confirm there is an open slot, I didn't think twice registering my then 4 yr old son to this beautiful school! Fast forward 2026- I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to you and St. Mary's as an institution for shaping my son's academic journey. This Thursday, he will be receiving the Honor Roll, and while I'm not sure how big of a milestone it is officially, I am extremely proud and excited because he scored 3.74 out of 4, earning A or A+ in all subjects. The strong foundation provided by your school has made a world of difference. Honestly, when we first enrolled my son, I was concerned about how he would adjust to a new environment and a traditional 8-3 schedule, especially since this was not a Montessori setting. I worried about his performance in math, science, and social studies. However, my concerns quickly faded when I saw how easily he adapted--finishing homework in just 5-10 minutes during the early months. It was clear that the teaching approach and support he received made learning feel effortless for him. Thank you for your dedication and for creating an environment where students can thrive. We truly appreciate everything you've done for our kids. I miss stmarys! And great job MsNel List is long on why StMarys is a great school and worth each penny! I truly appreciate you and your teachings! Looking back, I remember how scared and unsure I was when we continued with St. Mary's in 2nd and 3rd grade. Today, my list of gratitude for Ms. Nel, Ms. Nancy, and the entire St. Mary's institution is too long to express fully. The way St. Mary's teaches core concepts--multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, science, and language--has given my child an incredibly strong foundation. Two-digit multiplication and division are now a piece of cake for him! To our surprise, transitioning to another traditional private or public school has not been as challenging as we feared, and that speaks volumes about the quality of education at St. Mary's. Honestly, St. Mary's level of education is much higher than UCA. We deeply miss so many things: the organic food, the innovative tools, the no-screen rule, teachers who truly teach rather than relying on YouTube, the humane approach to breaks, creative playtime, and the productive after-school care. The list goes on, and it shows how much we value and miss St. Mary's. You are absolutely shaping future leaders, adaptive thinkers, and high achievers. Thank you for everything you do.
