Never at a hair salon have I been able to see color booklets to show how the base color and highlight will look together. The salon is clean and really cute, and the stylist was super personable and easy to talk to, and really seemed to understand what I was looking for. I have frizzy/curly hair and its sometimes a challenge for stylists to blow out but she did a great job I was super impressed. I have to say that this is by far the BEST hair color I've ever had!!!!! She was helpful in deciding the best shade of "chocolate brown" for my skin tone which I fully appreciated (I want to know what will look right, of course!), and which color highlight would give the right pop of color I was looking for. She even suggested angles to make it look better. Every single product used in my hair smelled DELIGHTFUL too and not chemical-ly/stinky. But as in all things in life, some do a Ouidad cut better than others, and John gave me probably the best one I've had since moving back to the area 5 years ago. When he sat me in his chair, he asked what did I want done, and I replied with probably the worst thing any stylist could hear "I'm not sure" because I wasn't sure if I wanted to chop it all off or just fix it. And he said you're sick of it...exactly! And he said let me fix it. And he went to work. Even as he was cutting I could see the curls obediently going back into place. He worked quickly, and as my hair piled up on the floor, I'll admit I was nervous but he knew exactly what was needed. He applied a little product and put me under the dryer. I left with my hair still damp as it takes FOREVER for it to dry so I really didn't see the finished product till later and wow, so so pleased! EVEN MY HUSBAND NOTICED!!!!! Disappointed After Years of Loyalty…read more I've been going to Karmita's salon in Mohegan Lake for years and always trusted her with my hair--color, highlights, cut, and blow-dry. However, my last visit (about a week ago) was a huge letdown. My hair came out nothing like it usually does. It looked dark, with just a few thick highlights, instead of the usual base #8 with blonde highlights that I always get. When I called Karmita to talk about it, she was extremely rude and unprofessional. After all these years, I expected at least some concern or willingness to fix it--maybe ask me to come back so she could take a look. Instead, she dismissed me and only offered to use a clarifying shampoo, warning that if my hair turned green, she wouldn't take responsibility. That felt cold and honestly, very disappointing. I even went to her salon in person hoping to talk, but she wasn't there. Unfortunately, I had to travel the next day, and after washing my hair once, my hair turned green my hair is damaged now and dry it's falling apart looks dead I was in tears--especially with an important event coming up on the top of that the hair cut she cut my bangs way to short when I pointed out she reply don't worry it will grow quick. I don't know what she put to my hair or perhaps she left the product on my hair too long. I felt hurt and betrayed. It's clear the quality of her work and products has gone downhill, and I will never ever go back to her salon. Now I have to wait at least 60 days to fix my hair I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone else. If you still decide to go, good luck. But be careful with your hair. Lisa (the owner) was on vacation a couple of weeks ago, i got Marianna (new girl @ salon) did my hair she did an amazing job she was precise & quick exactly what i want. She was also someone who put 100% love and pride to her work.
