No hot water and rude staff -- unacceptable…read more Stayed here as part of a tour group on May 2-3, 2026. There was no hot water in my room after check-in. The room phone didn't work, so I had to go to the front desk. A staff member came up and ran the water for 20 minutes--still cold--and then left. I waited another 40 minutes with no update. When I went back downstairs, the front desk staff (Patrick) told me to "be patient" in a raised voice. Completely unprofessional. I was told the hotel was fully booked and couldn't move me, yet rooms were still showing available online. Later found out multiple rooms had no hot water, and the issue wasn't fixed until around 12:30 AM. No hot water for hours, no communication, and rude service. Not acceptable. Would not stay here again.

In typical German tradition for a property like this there is no air conditioning but ample Windows, a ceiling fan and portable fan in the room to keep airflow active. A typical evening in this part of the country in the summer is not typically so warm that you'll notice. The breakfast in the basement was surprisingly a very good selection with many options not typically seen elsewhere. The fact I spent five minutes deciding which honey to use with my bread may be an indicator of how pleasantly eclectic it was. And I haven't had rhubarb juice in more than 20 years! There's also a bar in the basement but it did not seem to be operating when I was present. There's a very nice garden out back and you can easily order a few bottled drinks from the front desk to relax back there with colleagues. Just be forewarned that German mosquitoes are as friendly and willing to get to know you as the locals!
