We had such a great time on Haunted Manhattan's Greenwich Village Ghost Tour! It was spooky and fun without being scary, with lots of fascinating history made entertaining and accessible. Our guide, the "Professor," was awesome. He was funny, engaging, knowledgeable, and kind. He made the stories come to life. The walk was easy and comfortable for any age. Our group happened to be all adults, but I think this would be a fantastic experience for older kids, too. A fun way to explore Greenwich Village, learn some history, and enjoy a few spooky stories along the way! read more

My wife booked this as she wanted to do a NY ghost tour during our trip -- saved it for our final night in NYC. I suspect all of the tour guides and all of the tours are fantastic, but can without a doubt, HIGHLY RECOMMEND Prof. G. W. Illikers and the Greenwich Village tour. A mix of both scary and historical, all done to a comedic (yet somber) effect, making for a great tour. If I could give it more than 5* I would -- def a highlight of the NYC trip. read more

My daughter, her Boyfriend and I went on the Greenwich Village tour and had a fun and enlightening experience about the spooky and historical past of the area. Professor/Dr. Mortimer or Mycroft or Moriarty or actually I think Ben was fantastic. Inside joke as we both are bad remembering names. Knowledgeable in both the history and stories as well as being able to recite multiple relevant literary pieces in their entirety. It was an engaging and personalized experience and look forward to taking another tour with them. I highly recommend it. Tom Wall read more

We had a blast with Prof. G. W. Willickers! The tour was entertaining, and we learned a lot. 5/5 would recommend!

Several friends and I took the Greenwich Village tour this past weekend with Professor Mortimer. (The Pride Weekend revelry added a bit of unique ambiance!). It was a gas. We're all NYC residents with an interest in local history, and the Professor was able to add fascinating color and detail to places and events that we had superficial familiarity with (Washington Square Park, the "House of Death", etc.) Think Bowery Boys with a few jump scares :-) I'm looking forward to taking the East Village tour! read more

Amazing amazing amazing, as a new yorker we tend to sometimes forget and neglect the history and beauty of our beloved city. Booking a walking tour was a spur of the moment thing and it was the best idea ever for a laid back Saturday. Ms. W.M. Blackwood phenomenal super insightful and knowledgeable of the past history of lower Manhattan. For all thinking about booking a tour dont hesitate just do it. Were looking forward to doing the west&east village tours next. We had lots of fun. Thank you Ms. Blackwood hope to meet again soon read more

I cannot recommend Haunted Manhattan enough! Wonderful customer service while organizing a booking for our group. Our tour guide Frankie was fantastic!! She brought so much energy and character to the experience - It was just outstanding! The time flew, we wish we could have spent all night with her, roaming the NYC streets, learning a lot of history and hearing ghost stories that only long-time neighborhood locals normally know. I've lived in the city for 12 years, and I got to see the East Village in a whole new way. One of the most enjoyable nights I've had! Thank you Frankie!! Book this tour today! read more

I do ghost tours in all the city's I visit, but decided it was time to do one in my own city. This tour rocks! Frankie, our guide, was funny, informative, and just plain "COOL"! Looking forward to doing the other 2 tours! read more

We really enjoyed the tour! We learned a lot of history about the area while hearing stories about ghost sightings all around NYU's campus.

This tour was fun, informative and scary! We walked around a huge portion of the east village and I learned things about places I had no idea had so much history or were so haunted! I've lived in the city for 4 years now and had no clue that I was often passing by such sights as the restaurant Edgar Allen Poe frequently haunts or a freaky subterranean mass grave for the super wealthy of the 1800s. Our tour guide Franky was very personable, smart and funny. She did a great job of giving us an in depth history but also just telling the stories really well. I don't know if I believe in ghosts but I definitely left feeling a little spooked and with a cool new perspective on the city I've been living in. Can't wait to go on their other tours! read more

We did the Five Points tour. Our guide was lots of fun, personable, and relevant! My daughter and I took this tour together and it was interesting to both of us. We both love supernatural stuff, ghost stores, history and true crime. This combined all that. The history was that, "wow, I didn't know that" type of stuff and the ghost stories were great. We talked about which stories we liked best on the way home. I learned so much about the city and really appreciate it more now.. The tour was very reasonably priced, and the value was much more than the cost. I love that my daughter now feels a connection to the great city. read more

Had an excellent time on the tour! The ghost stories gave me chills, the tour guide was a lot of fun, and I really appreciated the NYC history woven throughout. This was a great (outdoor and safe) way to explore Greenwich Village and enjoy NYC. Highly recommended. read more

On a rainy Saturday afternoon, we had the great pleasure of walking around the West Village with "Vinny" for the Haunted Manhattan tour. Definitely one of the high points of our weekend in NYC as we got a nice dose of old New York history with the added bonus of chilling ghost stories. It was worth walking in the rain as "Vinny" was such a wonderful guide. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique experience while discovering New York. read more

I have done the East Village tour with Frankie, the West Village tour with Vinny, and now the Five Points tour with Wilhelmina. Each guide gave me something different, special and fun. All the tours were informative and eye opening, I have lived in NYC for more than 25 years and I learned quite a bit about this city that I did not know before. I look forward to doing these tours again next season. The price is quite right, the specialized customer service that Robert provided was friendly and quite accommodating and the ghosts will not hurt you, just be sure to respect them. - Vicky A. read more

I am so glad we did this tour! It was really interesting, the Professor was bad ass, and we really learned a lot. The Professor had great stories, was very engaging and animated. It's the perfect length of time, and you get a nice walk around Greenwich Village. A perfect mix of history and ghost stories! Would absolutely love to do another tour. read more

Short, sweet & to the point.. I've been to New York on a few occasions already however I've never done a tour like this! I was pleased to come across it when I was on Groupon. It's a walking tour, which I would suggest warmer clothing if you go during fall & winter weather, as it was kinda windy! My girl friend & I chose the 7:00pm West Village tour You learn a lot of interesting facts! That including people were strong alcoholics back in the day lol I won't go on about the tour, don't wanna ruin it for anyone! But I would definitely like to try the other 2 tours they have read more

Went on a tour today, The Five Points Tour, with Wilhelmina (sp?) and she was great! My kids loved it and on top of being entertained by the stories, we saw sights and learned things about Manhattan we wouldn't have learned otherwise. Great tour and great service and communication by the tour staff beforehand. We highly recommend it! read more

A lot of the information seemed made up and the guide acted as if they had tried memorizing a script. Toward the end we had even considered leaving a few stops early because of how boring it was. I had done a ghost tour the weekend before and was so excited to bring my parents along from out of town, but was very disappointed, as the tour didn't live up to all of the hype I read on the reviews. read more

A+ goes to Professor Mortimer and the Haunted Manhattan Greenwich Village tour! My mother and I are no strangers to New York, but this trip we wanted to try something different. We love ghosts and ghost stories, so we bought tickets for this tour. Professor Mortimer was very clear about the meeting point to start, and his signature bow tie made it extremely easy to find him. The 90 minute walking tour went by in a flash, because everyone was having such a wonderful time. The professor was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgable about all 13 sites we visited. Not only a ghost tour, but a history tour as well. The professor made the tour interactive and had some truly great stories to share. This company is fairly new, but it prides itself on being the most knowledgable and exciting of all the ghost tours in the city. We will certainly be returning to try the other two tours!! read more

My family and I took the Professor Mortimer haunted tour of Greenwich Village and we loved it. Not only was the tour extremely informative but the good professor is one of the best tour guides I have had the pleasure to go on a walking tour with. In addition my wife & I purchased discount vouchers on Yelp and had trouble figuring out how to redeem them and book a tour. We sent an email to the webmaster and received a very prompt response (I would say we had a confirmation of our booking within about 15 minutes of sending the email). Do yourself a favor and take this tour. The next time my wife and I are in NYC we will definately book another tour with this wonderful company. read more

Had a blast on the East Village tour with Frankie last night. Very informative tour filled with haunting, interesting stories about my hometown NYC. We especiallly enjoyed learning about the Merchant House, IL Bucos Edgar Allen Poe connection and especially the marble grave yard .I left with a thirst for more NYC history and haunted tales. Frankie is an excellent tour guide.. her storytelling skills and enthusiasm for the tales is remarkable. i recommend this tour to anyone and cant wait to go on the other two tours. Frankie did an excellent job on sharing both ghostly and historic accounts during the Haunted East Village tour.

We had a great time. The tour was just the right balance of history and creepiness. Thanks Professor.

Went on a walking tour in Greenwich Village, lead by Professor Hughes, who was a great guide! It was busy and loud that night, and we could always hear him, he was great at keeping the group together, and he had an incredible passion for what he was talking about. One of my favorite ghost tours i've been on, ever. read more

Went on the West Village tour last year and went for the Greenwich Village tour this year. Last year's tour guide (no longer works there) was ok, but just straight up info. That's good, but the GV had Professor Mortimer teaching Haunted History, and class was in session. He had the "professor" shtick down to a "T" and made the tour both informative and enjoyable. The other two tours now have "characters" as well. All I can say is you won't be disappointed. This tour gets an A+! read more

We enjoyed the tour very much, our tour guide Frankie is a true entertainer and a historian, it was a pleasure to walk around downtown and learning about interesting things; it is funny how you always go but never really think of ghosts or paranormal things that might be happening next-door, it was a great time, thank you! read more

My boyfriend and I went on a haunted ghost tour of Greenwich Village with Professor Mortimer and it was fun. It was a rainy day in NYC so that added to the spooky experience. We were a group of 4 since others had cancelled, but I liked the more intimate tour. Professor Mortimer was beyond corny with his jokes and potential scares, but his humor not unwelcome. We loved it! I learned so much history about Greenwich and some of the stories sent chills up my spine and left me feeling scared after the night was over. My curiosity was piqued so much I researched some of the stories. It's interesting how much you don't know about the history of your surroundings in any city. I hear that the Greenwich tour is more family friendly and yet I was scared a little, I can't wait to check out the other tours next time we are in NYC. read more

My good friend from college and I went on a Haunted Manhattan tour in the East Village with Frankie. She was absolutely wonderful! Fantastic enthusiasm, terrific and skillful storytelling, and she remembered all of our names. Frankie was constantly engaged with our tour group, sharing personal anecdotes as well as laying down the history of the different stops along the way. She also kept the stories authentic--no exaggerations--all history based. You don't have to be into horror to appreciate this tour. You'll be entertained and educated throughout the experience--definitely recommend! read more
