Our route started at Black Rabbit Mead and rolled through Ole Bridge Pub, Social Tap, and Our Bar, before wrapping things up at The Depot next door. If you've got a big group, book the private rental--it's totally worth it. Smaller crew? Grab a few individual seats and still join the fun. The staff is awesome, and the follow car makes you feel like a local celeb as you cruise downtown. Pro tip: show up at least 30 minutes early. Black Rabbit gets crowded with multiple groups starting or ending their rides, which can slow down service and eat into your bike time.

They recommended we get there 15 minutes early, but I would definitely try to get there at least 30 to 45 minutes before to ensure you aren't cutting into your reservation time, so you can decorate, mingle, and grab a drink in Black Rabbit Mead before take off. Your time ends at the 2 hr mark regardless of when you take off. We got there as recommended and there was only one bartender for a massive group of us and another group who reserved a bike for the day, so it was pretty chaotic and took much longer than expected. I would also recommend knowing which stops you want to go to. There is a list online, so come prepared and enjoy! Overall the driver was fantastic as was the experience. We will definitely be reserving another bike in the future!

Gayle, Jim, Marti, and I took this most enjoyable walking tour yesterday on a nice warm Sunday…read moreafternoon. The tour started with the lower level of the Renaissance Hotel (who provided water and a snack) for a introduction, a historical set-up (in costume) and fun "throw the cards" warm-up. Once outside (fully masked) and "on the road", our tour stops included the old Post Office/West Elm, the Reno Courthouse, the Virginia Street Bridge, Space Whale/Site of old Mapes Hotel, Old Riverside Hotel, one of Reno's historic old Alleys, and Belle Island. In between were stories of hangings, rings thrown from the bridge, missing person/mob hits, possible prohibition liquor runs through alleged tunnels, and of course the church where the finale of Sister Act was filmed. There were also magic tricks, bad jokes, a look up in the sky gag for tour add-ons, a fake birthday song tribute to a surprised restaurant patron, and a very enjoyable and interactive outdoor experience. The expedition ended back at the hotel with a ring magic trick, a bit historical letter reveal, and appreciation for a job well done. This expedition actually left me with wanting more in terms of local historical tidbits and stories. Maybe sometime post-COVID, a longer and smaller attended walking tour would be "in the cards". In the meantime, please buy a ticket to the Weird Reno walking tour and thank you Kalin, Jinger, Jacques, and family for a bringing a little welcome joy to such a challenging time. It was nice to experience something new and much needed in a long time. I definitely recommend getting tickets. We were laughing throughout the tour. So much history of which I learned about that I had no idea.., which left me truly inspired. I'll keep an eye out as I overheard there would be special events around Halloween and the holidays yay! I also added a pair of Solomon bindings (20% off), with a future discounted boot purchase somewhere on the horizon. When that's done, I'll bring them all back for Moment staff to mount the bindings and adjust the settings. That part and how they ski for me next season may be the subject of a future update. Last season was my first in over 25 years. I enjoyed myself enough at Heavenly (the Boulder parking lot is 20 minutes from my house in Genoa) that I figured that I could financially do better with my own equipment rather than rentals. Of course, I lot has changed equipment-wise in all that time, and I appreciated the friendly and patient Moment staff giving me concise sizing and model advice that I could use and trust immediately. When I arrived just before 10 AM, there was already a line into the demo tent, including folks who were here a lot earlier. After maybe a 20 minute wait, I arrived with previously obtained model and size information (via email and inside) written down. The guy helping me had a couple options, and after weighing the features, I made my choice. As a Senior Intermediate skier (think groomed blue), I'm sure I was outclassed by many of the downhillers here, but Moment staff quickly put me at ease. The background music, plus free foot longs, chips, and sparking water was a nice bonus.

During the assessment process I was actually able to describe my technique improvement goals to Reid and he translated them to modifications that needed to be done to my boots. There was absolutely no marketing hype, just very personalized recommendations based on deep technical understanding of different skiing techniques. Highly recommend, especially for racers, ski instructors, and other people looking for continuous improvement.

He has an incredible knowledge of Virginia City and Northern Nevada history, but he shares it in a way that's engaging, funny, and easy to follow. His sense of humor was the perfect mix of clever and classic jokes, which kept both the adults and the kids entertained! Before we even stepped into the mine, Gary sat us under a tree and told the story of Virginia City and The Comstock Load. I've lived in Northern Nevada for years, and he still taught me things I had never heard before! It was a great reminder of just how much fascinating history we have right here in our own backyard. I also appreciated how patient and thoughtful he was with everyone in our group, especially the children and those who needed a little extra time walking through the mine. He made sure everyone felt included. As a bonus, Gary is also an author! I ended up buying one of his books (I collect children's books for my office), and he has written other books too. I may have to buy the others with my next visit. Whether you're visiting from out of town, or you've lived here for years, the Chollar Mine Tour is absolutely worth experiencing. The tours run in May, July and September and the local classes run in April, June, August and October on Fridays and Saturdays only. A 45 minute round trip adventure. The conductor kept a lively conversation going tte entire ride. Very knowledgeable about the mines and history. Imagining the effort it took to build the tracks and the depths of the mines put things in perspective. A good overview before actually going into one of the mines. You can sit inside a covered car or outside. Speakers are posted for excellent sound. Sit on the east side looking west for the best views of the mines. The original trains are on display as well as a nice souvenir shop and restrooms. A small picnic area is available.

Windows are open with no glass, cool breeze all the way. The charming conductor gives such fun and interesting information about all that you are seeing. Don't suggest walking to the station from the Main Street as there is a parking lot provided and those hills are not for the weak! This fun train experience is just another reason a visit to Virginia City is always so much fun!
