A weekend of wonderful Italian music, delicious Italian food, good friends, and lots of great Italian food. And of course, a large TV for the Ohio State game. Caveat: we always take our own flatware to avoid the inexpensive plastic ware provided. The John Pirelli Lodge of OSIA is located at Bella Villa Hall on County Line Road in Dayton OH, and we have been attending for 50+ years. I have never understood that many folks seek out pizza at the Italian Festival. There are at least 100 plus pizza joints in the Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area which offer much better pizza. There is real Italian food here - just ask all of the Italians in the food booths. I have also never understood why this festival cannot provide great Italian Pepperoni Rolls. Has no one taken the famous WV Italian Pepperoni Roll Trail (which is now extended to Davis, WV?) I always pass on Baked Italian Pasta unless it is lasagna. I have observed my dear wife making homemade lasagna, and we both comprehend the reasons that the festival cannot provide lasagna. Today it is (baked) Italian Shells plus Spicy Italian sausage and loads of other Italian goodies. As expected the shells are much overcooked and the Spicy Italian sausage is perfect. One of the very best festival offerings is the Spicy Italian sausage, which is arguably superior to any sausage offered at the Dayton Art Institute October Fest. My dear wife implores us to arrive by noon; she can easily make several laps around the grounds and scope out the many Italian Delights including 50 homemade Italian cookies and of course, the gelato. We have friends and family who delay their arrival until 6:00 PM, and we perceive controlled chaos during evening hours. Of course, we tend to enjoy arrival at the many Dayton and Ohio festivals. Great that the Italian Festive is very family friendly from newborns to folks in their nineties.

Located where it is, I thought they were connected with the university, but I learned that they are an independently operated non profit. The staff was extremely friendly and you could tell that they love aviation history and what they do. There is a replica of a Wright B flyer and other airplanes and even cars from the era on display. You need to ask staff to take you to the back area because it is an active work space, but it is worth it to see everything up close. They did say that on certain Saturdays, the volunteers actually take the flyer up for flights! While you can't experience an actual flight, they do have a VR simulation of take off, brief flight and landing. It is $5, but my daughter said it was well worth the cost (especially considering the fact that the museum itself is free)

There is a super small inside gallery area. A bunch of exhibits were covered so you couldn't see them. The outside is a small village with two structures. It was cool to go in and see you those looked like. There are plaques with what is around the circle area and you can either scan the QR code to get that information or borrow one of their books to learn about it. I think that's pretty cool. I think there is massive room for improvement and making things just look nicer. I think those in charge could learn a lot from how the Great Council State Park was done. Lots of room for more hands and interactive things to keep the kids interesting in learning about our past. This could also spell more revenue from schools for Field Trips.

We felt so lucky to find the museum open during the Juneteenth celebration on Springboro. Outside the museum's front door, 18 safe houses from the Underground Railroad are still standing in Springboro's historic district, an area that historian Wilbur H. Siebert described as one of Ohio's busiest locations on the Underground Railroad.

I have done a case in the past with them in San Antonio, TX and we had a great time so here in Ohio…read moreI decided to take my husband to one of their classes for a good time. they have private parking and that was great and convenient. this spot is a BYOB so make sure to bring your best booze when you come to the class. the reservation for the class is done online and also you are able to see the paint that will be done in class as you make the reservation. the staff here is very friendly and fun, they also have a very nice paced class with fun music playing the entire time. the paints are easy to do and even if you mess up there is always a way to finish the paint very nice looking and worthy of a wall at home. as always we had a good Time coming here.
