Last summer, I was a recruiting intern in the 10-week HatchELITE summer program that Hatch prides itself on. What drew me in right away and what has kept me in contact with Hatch ever since is, by far, the people. The team has such a genuine, colorful cast of eager, hard-working personalities. If ANYONE gets people, it's the Hatch team. For the staffing industry, Hatch's commitment to fulfilling candidate needs, employee needs, and client needs truly separates them from the pack. More than anything, the internship allowed me to gain invaluable experience and sharpen people skills that have stuck with me in every aspect of my life. Hatch pushed my limits and saw more of my potential than what I thought I had. They assigned all of the interns mentors within the company which kept me on focus. I grew a strong connection with my mentor and several of the other employees who were ALWAYS willing to help. Literally because of Hatch alone, I am never hesitant when it comes to asking for help, whether that be at work or simply in my network. That network also grew two-fold thanks to Hatch as they invited guest speakers in from all over the area, and cared enough to get me a part-time position with a client of theirs. The Hatch ELITE internship grogram was the most valuable internship experience I had as a college undergrad. The program was comprised of 14 total interns and we were given actual responsibilities that contributed to the day in and day out functionalities of Hatch to gain real life experience and have the opportunity to make an impact on the business. Hatch encourages interns to play on their strengths, challenges their weaknesses and dive deep in any particular aspects of the business that interests them. For example, we were given topics that we had to research, and present our findings on, individually to Hatch employees. One topic was social media and how Hatch could leverage their efforts. I was particularly interested in this area and when I won the best presentation I was given the opportunity to take social into my own hands and help increase Hatch's efforts. I even stayed on an additional year at Hatch working solely on social. Overall, I learned valuable career skills as well as gained a better understanding of who I am becoming as a professional. It should go without saying that the coworks/culture at Hatch is incredible and from it I even gained a mentor who has helped guide me on my professional journey. I would recommend this internship to anyone, it's an opportunity you should not pass up. read more

Overall, the Hatch Elite experience is good for professional development and a nice point on your resume. Although Hatch is a small company, they use their size to offer an internship directed at the interns. Since it is a part-time internship, you will still have time to work a shift at the factory (many of us had other jobs). The one qualm I had is that it was hard to get a feel for how much money one could make going into it. I would have much preferred our grant for unpaid internships than the $200 in commissions I earned over the summer. That being said, this company will go all-out to afford you professional growth. Every Wednesday is a speaker, whether at Hatch or another company. After training, you are allowed to shadow any position in the company (including the president) and they will explain to you how they do their position, along with some low-liability practice. You will gain salesmanship skills, presentation sales, learn how to make cold-calls and, most importantly, be on the hosting end of interviews... all on your own! In the business world and in internships, you have to start somewhere, so don't assume your first one will be paid. If you want an internship where you can build and hone your personal relations skills, this is a great opportunity for you! read more

I worked for Hatch Staffing during the summer of 2012 in their ELITE Internship program and my experience could not have been better. From the start, everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming and genuinely wanted to see me succeed. Even though this was an internship at a staffing agency, my responsibilities were never limited to the one position. If an intern found they had an interest in sales, accounting, or anything else business related Hatch Staffing would give them the resources and mentors to get involved. This is not a "grunt work" internship - they genuinely treat their interns as one of their own by allowing them to have real responsibilities and by providing constructive feedback on their progress. Not only did this opportunity allow me to grow my knowledge of the business world, but I also had fun doing it. Hatch does an excellent job of helping people find work in environments that give them the chance to succeed. I worked as a temp both externally and internally for Hatch. The company culture is great--very friendly, very supportive, very invested in employees. They work hard to make good matches between candidates and workplaces, and they respect the workers they place. Everyone at Hatch is very professional, and they make placements at some great and well-known companies. It's the nature of a staffing agency that there are several candidates for any one job, so you do have to be proactive in checking in with your recruiter and updating your skills and availability. The people at Hatch Staffing have a passion for their community. They have been really supportive of our nonprofit organization. They have hosted events in their space for our board of directors and high school interns. They also launched a Staffing for a Cause Challenge, a competition between staffing companies to raise money for our job training programs for teens. The Hatch team won the Challenge through a series of fun and creative fundraising events which also served as a terrific team-building activity for their staff. I was placed at a company in Downtown Milwaukee through Hatch while I was still in school. It was a great experience. Hatch was able to work around my school schedule to find me a position that would help me gain valuable experience for when I graduate. Also, about a week into my new position, the President at Hatch and my recruiter stopped by personally to see how I was doing and gave me a Hatch mug with some candy in it.
