Several years ago I purchased a high quality mattress from a Company called Penny Mustard in Milwaukee. A upper end store of Better Quality furniture. Penny Mustard owns Hassless Mattress. The Concept is unique. The pricing and quality are excellent. Some People are uncomfortable buying without a Salesperson. Trying to determine what meets their needs and budget. That's Understandable. It is an important purchase. Suggestion...Shop several stores where you get help and pricing. One mistake people make before purchasing? They don't take the time to take off their shoes and spend enough time laying on the mattress to feel/test its comfort. The wide selection of models and manufacturers is challenging and can be confusing... actually it is confusing. You can take all the time you want in Hassle Mattress. I heard about this business concept on the news or something, mattress stores with no employees, and you can try the mattresses out without salespeople pressuring you. Theoretically with no salespeople the prices are lower. We stopped by this location and I was surprised that six other customers visited the store while we were there. Everyone was laying down and trying out various mattress with reckless abandon. From the store you can order online at a kiosk or call the 800 number. There's a 100 day exchange if you end up being dissatisfied. One couple in the store told us they had picked out one mattress and after 50 days felt like maybe it was too soft and were back in to pick out a replacement. We didn't decide to buy yet, but I will certainly keep Hassless Mattress on my list. read more

It's a local company and the owner reached out to ask why only three stars in my original review and that sort of personal touch is an important contrast to the impersonal feel of a store with no live salespeople in it. I don't think the humanless sales concept is for everyone, but if you're shopping for a mattress you're about to spend a lot of money. Make sure you have this place as one of your stops for comparison shopping. If you're the sort of person who wants to execute a mattress purchase with as little time and effort as possible, and you have a good idea of what you need, then I also recommend this place as you can find an adequate mattress and order it in far less time by yourself here than at any place with sales people. read more

I just heard of this place and can't believe it's been around for 6 years. My guess is that they have low brand awareness within Chicago limits. I visited the new Sheffield location. We were there maybe 30 min and no one came in. Employee-free showroom. Video was on loop, which got annoying. Tried out a few mattresses. Public restroom available. Carries all the major brand names. Not an overly large selection, which aids with decision making. I like how they label and rate each mattress as firm, soft, medium, etc. It was really helpful as a lot of mattress stores don't do that. We decided to go chemical-free/organic, so ended up purchasing from a different provider. I'm wondering how long it's going to take a person from off the street to figure out they can live there basically. Maybe low brand awareness in the city is a good thing. Another thought is how many times in your lifetime do you actually purchase a mattress? I don't think I've felt particularly "hassled" doing so in the past. I wonder what sort of user experience data they have that supports their employee-free concept? I suppose they save money and just assume people are hassled by store employees? Living in Chicago I can think of many times I'm hassled more like visiting USPS station and I dare to ask a question, or when I exit 90-94 and someone's asking me for money at my car window, or every.single.time I go on the CTA. Or how about the DMV at the Thompson Center. Man, all those speed cameras or red light cameras that warrant a $100 ticket each time-thanks to LL. Traffic in general then add the Amazon delivery trucks or bikers, or people on scooters, or car doors swinging open into the lane of traffic. Winter in general. Bikers along the lake front who go 30mph around people who are running or walking causing almost accidents. Lots of chances to be hassled in Chicago, buying a mattress is very low on my list. read more

The BEST experience I've had!! I needed a new mattress and kept hearing this company on the radio. I decided to give it a try. They were open from 9am-9pm every day of the week, which was great hours for me. It was a bit different since there were no sales associates around to answer questions or come up and ask if you need anything. However, they were available via text and call which was great. Every interaction I had with everyone in this company was so wonderful. They answered my questions and helped me with my decision on my current mattress. I purchased a pillow top Beautyrest from them (don't recommend if you need more support). Based off of the research I found the second time around, Beautyrest beds were designed more for "luxury" and not meant for serious orthopedic conditions, while their Serta brand beds were designed more for good quality mattresses with upgrades available but not essential for a good night's sleep. You'd choose this option if you're looking for the widest range of mattresses to select from. They did offer Sealy beds and these beds really help with extra orthopedic support for your back, muscles, bones, and joints. I opted in for their 100 day back guarantee. Thank goodness I did. The Beautyrest mattress didn't last long. I only had it for two months and the middle started to sink in and it became extremely uncomfortable! I wasn't able to get a good nights rest and my body/back was in so much pain. I decided to do more research this time and consult more with their mattress experts instead of just trying out how the bed felt to switch out my bed. I decided to go with "Queen Maple Lane A - Sealy Posturpedic". Great mattress so far! I get a good nights rest, it's firm and soft enough, and I feel well rested every time I get up. The exchange was so easy and the associate I spoke with was really knowledgeable and helped me make a great end decision. They offer next day free shipping if it's placed before 5PM. They'll take your old mattress for free as well! If you're looking for a place to purchase a mattress that gives you a 100 day guarantee, great customer service, and free next day delivery I would highly recommend coming here! The concept of an employee-free mattress store appealed to me. My old mattress had slowly turned into something akin a horrible Puritan device designed to extract confessions from witches, and it needed replacement. Driving to the store I wondered how an employee-free store could operate. Who would answer questions? How could they accomplish loss prevention? At the time, the answer seemed obvious; robots. These shiny, cheery, roving bipedal human-like machines could accomplish these tasks. Their algorithms would equip them to answer a multitude of questions from curious shoppers. As a parked, I saw the exterior of the store looked well-kept, the walks free from ice and snow. Surely this indicated the adaptable robots were capable of wielding shovels if necessary. Upon entering, I was delighted to see a very clean and meticulously-arranged rectangular showroom of many mattresses. I was immediately struck by the large variety of quality mattresses at affordable prices. I was the only sentient being in the entire place. What's more, I saw no robots. My suspicion stirred as a walked, wondering why the robot greeters had not yet approached me. Instead there was a computer and television stationed on the wall of the showroom. The TV played a video of a young man talking about the store, and the computer had an easy interface to allow ordering. Perhaps that job was better done by customers than having the robots take orders though voice recognition. Still, no sign of any robots- not so much as a nanobot. But if the robots didn't serve as greeters or as clerks, what was their purpose? It dawned on me that they must be equipped as loss prevention robots, preventing people from tucking a mattress under their arms as they left. I hoped they didn't think I was up to no good. These machines would surely be made with brushed titanium armor and red electric eyes. I looked at a wide variety of attractive mattresses with descriptive options and prices displayed at the foot of each. As I tested a soft cloud of a Beautyrest mattress, I examined the walls of showroom. Positioned prominently about I saw signs displaying a phone number for questions and a few security cameras. Still, no sign of robots. Were the security bots checking their weapon systems and training them on me from a hidden vantage point? I jerked my head and turned quickly to check if one was approaching from behind, but there was nothing there. I shopped for 30 minutes and found a great mattress priced where I could afford it. I was delighted, and I placed the order in just a few minutes on the computer. It was very easy. I left having never laid my eyes on any robot employee. Purchased a Beautyrest Recharge mattress from HassleLess. The service and delivery was great. Exceptional customer service. However, the quality of the mattress was poor and it was not an inexpensive mattress. It was OK for the first 9-12 months but then the mattress lost its shape with body indentations that became so bad we basically had to stop using the mattress and went back to our old mattress. A mattress should last far longer than this did making me believe HassleLess sells low quality products. read more

We stopped in today after throwing out my back while 7 months pregnant. Our mattress was my husband's in the old bachelor pad and is in desperate need to be replaced. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the store, and the selection. They carry name brands like Serta and Tempurpedic in addition to less known brands. I love the concept of no sales people , as we came to Hassless after a strange experience at another local store. My toddler loved running through the store like an animal...thank goodness they weren't busy. My only suggestion would be to post "instructions" of some kind? I see another review on Yelp saying I could order through the kiosk in the store. The computer appeared to be locked when I was there, so I'm not sure that'd be an option, but it would have been cool (no offense to the gentleman on the TV offering me his phone number to order, I'm just weird and socially awkward) to order online. If that's a choice, please put it somewhere! Chances are, we will be back to order. I like the fact they have free delivery and haul away (I've been surprised how many local stores DON'T) and the prices are right. If you've never used Hasseless it's worth the experience and the savings. That being said, DO NOT Purchase the metal frame they offer, it's JUNK !! After purchasing our new mattress and frame and setting it up, within weeks the frame was making a Horrendous amount of noise every time you had the slightest movement at night. I went to a few larger furniture (mattress specific) stores before coming to HassleLess Mattress. They were such a waste of time. Even with their "Sales" and "Add ons", the mattress I got at HassleLess was $800 cheaper than what I found elsewhere. I really appreciated not having ANY salesperson bothering me while I laid in bed, testing my future mattress. When I picked the mattress I liked, it was a simple phone call to set up the delivery and payment and I was walking out the door 20 minutes after walking in! So simple. No time wasted. The delivery was incredible as well! They were running late, but called to keep me informed as to where they were and how long they thought it would take. I was not busy that day, so I was not annoyed. They brought it all in, set it up, had me sign for it, asked if there was anything else they could do, and left. We went to a larger furniture store, and I have to admit it was awkward lying down, rolling over, moving from bed to bed trying to make up our mind on what was comfortable, all while being stared at by a salesperson eating pretzels. We took a shot at Hassless Mattress not knowing what to expect. The first time we went in, we gravitated toward a Serta hybrid mattress; however, I am a very indecisive person and we left without making a purchase. Two weeks later after FINALLY being tired of our dog hogging the bed, we made a second trip back to the store and confirmed the Serta hybrid mattress was the one. And it came in over $1000 less than the furniture store we originally went to! The mattress was delivered within just a few days by two very professional gentlemen. They cleaned up after themselves, and I love that they took away the old mattress. I walked in the store with my daughter (I was buying the bed for her) and loved how easy it was to breeze through some of the decisions I had to make. The layout of firmer-to-softer mattresses immediately took me to one end of the store, clearly marked prices for all sizes helped to further narrow down an appropriate mattress, and finally it was the bouncing around and testing of the remaining choices that took up the end of the 10 minutes I was in the store. It was quick without any interruptions, and it was easy with all the information for each mattress organized clearly and uniformly. I snapped a photo of my desired mattress and saved it so that I could order it online later and at my leisure. The website to order from is also well-organized and easy to navigate.
