This is just a review for their ATMs inside the bank. I have yet too see a queue for them, and I…read morealways get small denominations, which I like. I'm not a customer with the bank, but they do still not charge any extra fees when I get cash here with my credit card. This can be compared to Haspa - Hamburger Sparkasse which charges €5 for a non-customer like me.
Hamburger Volksbank

I've been with the Hamburger Volksbank for about two years and am happy with their service - or…read morerather to say, happy with not needing their service. After two entire years, I have not had one incident or issue which I needed to contact them about, so I'll take that as a sign that they must be doing something right. My major, major gripe with this bank is that they simply do not have enough outlets in the city and they do not belong to any cash-groups, which means that I can only withdraw cash from their ATMs and finding said ATMs are a major pain in the tuchus. They do not seem to have a mobile website, so finding these ATMs on the go is a major issue. Thank goodness for Qype mobile. Another problem is that the software running on their ATMs are not particularly reliable. I have made a trek to the bank (emphasis on trek) more than a few times to find the ATMs out of order, or have attempted to withdraw cash from a functioning ATM, only for it to lock up. To sum up - I'm happy with this bank for the low cost account plans, but am unhappy about their lack of locations and seemingly perpetually broken ATMs.

I contacted them asking when they would credit the advertised offer to my account and received a reply 2 weeks later saying that I did not sign up for the offer during the Happy Hour on their homepage. I did however click on the offer at that time and signed up from their homepage. This was the reason I decided to go with this bank. Now there is no reason to stay with them - long lines at the cashier, few cash machines and most are not in service and they charge around EUR5 if you take money from another bank's machine. Me thinks definitely not!

I've been a customer for more than five years, using the free current account with a combined…read moregirocard/V-Pay card and a Visa charge card. The Visa charge card allows for free cash withdrawals worldwide (except Germany where ATMs of Cash Group are to be used with the girocard instead). The account comes with a handy online tool that displays your expenses in a pie chart, sorted by category. Unfortunately they've increased the foreign currency fee for Visa transactions . As I often visit Poland, the UK and Switzerland, the card is not very attractive to me anymore. Consors Visa has a 0% foreign transaction fee, netbank cards have 1%. I'll probably still keep this account though, as it allows for free paying in cash at Commerzbank locations. Also the comdirect account supports giropay which most other banks' don't. Balance and recent transactions can be looked up by means of FinTS/HBCI compatible apps.
