We got the generic appetizer platter which included a gigantic glob of tasty soft cheese, a huge orange mound of something they said was "potato cheese" and tasted like the best-ever mashed potato salad, some of the local handkase mit musik, and a big tub of Frankfurt green sauce. Plus a skimpy basket of three (3) slices of slightly-stale rye bread. I can forgive the staleness a bit, because it was 10 pm at night after all.
My friend ordered schnitzel (almost always orders schnitzel), and it looked good, like most German schnitzel. I ordered a seasonal specialty - mushrooms with some kind of dumpling. The dumplings proved to be bread mostly, and tasted kind of like stuffing. They weren't my favorite. The mushrooms were good, and the cream sauce w/brandy was decent, but really my dish was the dullest - i only finished about half of one dumpling. My wife didn't want to eat really heavy that late at night, so got a large salad, and she really REALLY liked it. She tried some of my dumplings and agreed they were not amazing.
My friend shared some of his schnitzel with me and it was actually quite good.
I'd probably rate it 5 stars if I had ordered something else and there wasn't a loudly shouting drunk outside. As it is, it got 4 stars.
