They did remove a lot of the sports stuff as a decor. Three used to be a lot of signed stuff but now there's none.

Service: fast and efficient you get your food very quick and Cant complain. The cost: Very affordable like 2-4$ My hi Boy was 3.25$ and poutine was around 5$ pretty standard and cheap for what you get .. quality is around 4/5 but it's a landmark I'm guessing and it has not changed in forever. We found La Baraque, checked out the menu and decided that was the right place for us. We sat outside and ordered drinks. Our server was fantastic. The kids both ordered poutine (one with cheese and bacon and the other had chicken). The hubby ordered a smoked meat sandwich. I ate bites of everyone's meals. Everything was very good. Service was great, food was good, the little birds that visited us while we ate were adorable and it was fun to people watch.

Troisieme Tasse's locale appeared to be empty and had leasing signs on its vitrines. As I walked back to the Metro realizing I needed to get coffee elsewhere, I saw Lafayette unobtrusively occupying a corner and almost directly across from the Metro station. I filed it away in my head to look it up and see what they had to offer. Lafayette checked out just fine on review sites, so I went in to eat lunch another day. As you walk in, it's a little long in the tooth, but that adds some character to Lafayette. It has the big booths and, as a bonus, its sitting on a corner allows it to have many booths next to windows. It looked like there was quite a bit to choose from, so it could have been that I was overwhelmed. That said, I settled on a club sandwich and a soft drink. I sure have eaten a lot of club sandwiches in the province of Quebec, with all of them being plentiful and satisfying. I've eaten them in Montreal, in Quebec City, and even smack in between the two in Trois-Rivieres. In fact, there used to be a place called Le Club Sandwich about a block or so west of Papineau for which the site, complete with the tacky building occupying it, has given way to gentrification. Lafayette has a good feel ... sort of like a worn and comfortable shoe. The service was also "comfortable," for lack of a better word, but not at all worn, or world weary. By this I mean that it was informal and good-natured, almost as if in a small town. The prices were in the ballpark for this genre and for having an in-town Montreal location close to the city center. The club sandwich was very good. I was very happy with that choice - almost always safe and almost always tasty and filling. Restaurant Lafayette has been around a long time and local folks as regulars is a good sign. I would eat here again and, with a location between Centre-Ville and the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and being so close to a Metro station, it would make it even more likely.

They are known for their drink served in a mason jar. I found the jar have shrunk with time. It used to be served in the big one and now its the small one. The thing, at least at this location, that is often lacking is the service. It's slow, don't expect to do a come and go. You will run out of water and probably never see anyone to fill it.
