WORST company I have ever dealt with…read more Domayne sold me an outdoor table set. There were numerous manufacturing defects that I noted immediately upon receipt of the set. The table and benches had several defects. The benches often making a loud cracking sound when more than one person sits on it. They kept telling me that the "irregularities" in the table and benches were normal. We recently moved and took off the tabletop to find 22 redback spiders living inside the hollow base (as well as many other species with which we were unfamiliar). They can easily crawl out of the base to the underneath of the table from the hollow base (at the top or at the bottom as both have gaps) while we are sitting there enjoying a meal and we have five little girls. The base is literally a haven for poisonous spiders. After several email conversations with the franchise owner, she is unwilling to assist. We kindly requested a pickup and refund of the set due to safety hazard and the unreasonable danger to our children and they have repeatedly refused. They say the table couldn't possibly be a haven for spiders, but they missed the fact that the gap between the hollow base and the top is big enough to fit an entire pencil. They won't respond to any of my correspondence regarding the issue. We spent $3100 on this table set and now we basically have to throw it away. I have never had such a poor experience with any company. They have no conscience or ethics. If you read their reviews on Google, you will see this is how this company does business and treats everyone. They are friendly until they make the sale and then you are on your own. AVOID!

Thornbury records on High St opened back in February and has been accumulating an avid fan base ever since. The features a great range of new contemporary and classic vinyl records, along with more obscure band t-shirts, CDs by local and unsigned artists and a selection of small and independent publications covering a variety of topics. The shop is easy to browse and tidy, and the front window is filled with your obligatory live music and album posters. There's a chilled kind of vibe, and the proprietors are happy to let you be or have a chat about music or the store if you're into the scene. They also sell stuff online, and run competitions through the store's blog. All in all, a very funky establishment.

Anyway they stock some cute occasional furniture, good for adding a little retro love to a room. I have found their pricing to be lower than that of the larger vintage traders which makes the pieces more accessible for a younger market. There are the larger/$$ pieces of furniture but also a selection of smaller, affordable bric a brac straight from the kitchens and lounge rooms of the 60's. Its new and its on the 112 tram, worth a visit.

A diminutive little shop selling a range of textiles, ceramics, rugs and homewares from Asia, the East India Company is a nifty little boutique with a buyer who is clearly in possession of some quite incredible taste. I particularly like East India Company's excellent selection of handmade ceramic doorknobs - a steal at $4 each - and its shell inlaid jewellery boxes which would make the perfect gift. Well for me at least. Prices are hugely reasonable, stock varied but aesthetically cohesive, and most impressively East India Company sells a range of homewares that is at once traditionally Asian in its sensibility but very, very modern.
