I wasn't going to leave a review at all but felt it necessary to let others know they don't have to be afraid of the people here. Especially once they leave. They will stalk you, harass you, verbally assault you and threaten you when you leave - particularly if you share any of the abuse that has occurred during your time here. But it's all empty words used in an attempt to intimidate and control you. Hold your head high, flip off Mark Bryan when you see him, and rebuild your life despite the lies they will tell about you. You deserved better. Now give yourself better. They will never admit their fakeness. Their abuse. Their lack of accountability or the lies they tell about others. If you need to get it out like I did, do so. But don't expect maturity, love or understanding to come from a single member. It won't. It doesn't matter how messy an individual's healing journey becomes, it's far more noble than the two-faced backstabbing that happens at Harvest Church. Because it's authentic and real which you will not find here. To the new people offended at the negative reviews: Just because they haven't hurt you (yet), doesn't make past abuse okay. It's still wrong what they did and your reviews only further support the accusation of brainwashing here. Every cult that has ever existed consisted of followers who were trained to believe that their leaders were better than "the others". For example, to state this church preaches the truth "unlike other churches" is proof that this manipulative tactic is being implemented. I understand though because I was once brainwashed into believing the same things as well. But thirty years and the seats are still empty is not "God's favor". God does not "favor" this place. There was a time that was powerful, but they destroyed their own house. Now it will never be what it could have been. But stay if you like. Write argumentative reviews meant to discredit other's truth. Believe the delusions spun before your face. You're only fooling yourself. Keep praying for the "harvest", while surrounding churches overflow with members. Post online the one time a donation to a food bank is made, just like the Pharisees bragged about their good deeds. And above all else - remember that the pastors are the true victims here. Your poor, helpless pastors that can "do nothing" and need you all to defend them. How they have treated others when they left, is also how they will treat you. It's just a fact. Your pain will be ignored and dismissed with arrogant 5 star reviews by your "genuine" friendships. Oh - you think you're special? I did too. In fact, there was pressure to marry the pastor's son even. Now they say I was "always a problem" and they're "better off". All in the name of "Jesus." Because that's how "Jesus" talked about people - isn't it? Leaving was the best decision I ever made. I don't struggle financially, anymore. I am working towards a PsyD. I moved out of low-income housing. I get to choose who I date. My friends have my back, rather than talk behind it...on and on I could go. My life is beautiful, successful and peaceful. I couldn't be happier or more grateful for where I am today. But this place says the "devil" led me "astray". Please. I was a single mom who worked a full-time job and couldn't afford food for the 10 years I attended because I tithed instead. When the church becomes more important than your family or your home - THAT'S the devil. P.S. I fully stand by what I wrote. And I will stand by what I wrote all the way to a courtroom if need be. The Bryan's use the tactic of fear mongering to discourage members from talking about their hurtful experiences here by teaching them that talking about it is illegal and "slander". I've been going to this church off and on for a year now. I have a service dog and required to sit in the back which is completely understandable. I met pastor Mark one time simply because he was walking through the entry way and I was sitting on the bench waiting for services to begin. Now, his son took over and I have not met him. While sitting in the back with my dog, not one person has come up to me to get to know me. I even had surgery was in a sling trying to come through the doors struggling and a group of adults were all standing around and not one came to open the door. Also while sitting in the back with my dog I have sat with an elderly man and his wife until she passed away. I had shoulder surgery and noticed another man sitting there so, no big deal, I sat in the third seat. A woman comes in and asked me to move down so she could sit with her husband. No big deal, I moved down to the 4th seat. Suddenly two ladies come in and ask me to move down two more seats! Hello??? I am in a sling with a service dog and another lady comes in, and now I am at the opposite end of the row! That is about the rudest church of people I have ever met. The row of seats in front of us were empty. Yet they forced me to get up so many times with arm in sling towing my dog. I am done with this church. Also not once have I heard repentance in this church. Organized religion is nothing but a social club for people who are financially set. Who cares about the poor! Has anyone from this church ever called me to see how I'm doing especially seeing how I had to have surgery and was out for several weeks. Not one call, not one visit. Very clickish church. SHAME ON THE WHOLE LOT OF YOU WHO NEVER ONCE REALLY TOOK NOTICE OF AN OLD WOMAN AND HER DOG. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more

I attended for 9.5 years and enjoyed many of those years, however, I prefer the truth of grace in both words and actions in a church. My family and I were watched very closely here, what we watched, read, who we talked to and what we did outside of church, ect. Though this felt like love at first, it became controlling over time. I wish the sugary sweet niceness wasn't just surface. I had a very positive experience, I only attended youth group and didn't get close to anyone and went on some Sundays. Some things were conflicting with their rules so that's when I realized the control. I really wish they didn't exclude others from other churches wanting to visit. My young kids love to go to church and they come home knowing a different Bible story every week! The worship is wonderful, the people are great and the sermons are always spot-on! The women's group on Friday mornings is always really encouraging and helpful. I love this church and all the things that it does to support families that are trying to raise kids today. read more

This church's hot word is "slander". If you speak negatively of this church in any way, they refer to it as "slander". The fact that I will speak negatively of this church will label this entire story as "slander", even though I am recounting my personal experience and nothing more. I had heard much about this church from people who had attended for longs periods of time, so I went myself. The sermon was hard to follow, and the preacher cherry-picked verses. When asked about their doctrines and practices, they used verses out of context to support their own interpretations, like why it's ok for the wife of the pastor to be an elder/bishop, or what it's ok for the entire family to have high-ranking leadership roles in the church (look up the word nepotism). They had choreographed dancers up on the stage, which I found highly offensive due to the distracting nature of the event. The on-stage dancers took focus away from God, and I found it hard to concentrate on worshipping the Lord. I'm not saying dancing isn't an acceptable form of worship; it absolutely is, when done as a gift to the Lord by the individual worshiping. When it's done as entertainment for the congregation, it's self glorifying and takes attention and worship away from God. But that's the air of Harvest Church: Self-Glorifying. Harvest Church thinks that they are the only church that teaches the bible accurately. If you attend any other church, you are labeled a "rebel" or "backsliding". Just like when you speak poorly of the church in any way, it is labeled as "slander", and in any case, when you are labeled, you are ostracized until you conform to their teachings. People that attend there are discouraged from dating or marrying anyone outside of the church. I have heard tales from different people about talks with Pastors Mark and DeeDee (husband and wife) that left them in tears because they were berrated so ferociously. I have heard tales of screaming. This church is self-glorifying, controlling, abusive, manipulative, and is closer in definition to a cult than to an actual church. Avoid this church like the plague. Mark my words: this comment will be flagged and deleted by Harvest members, because that's how they keep their rating so high. I also know that students of Harvest's school are assigned to write positive five star reviews of the church, again to keep the ratings high. Go ahead and read a couple. read more

Literally the most terrifying, hateful, manipulative church that I have ever stepped foot in. This is coming from someone that once loved going and still loves many of the people that attend. I left less than a year ago and still face trials every day because of the things I was told about my self worth. Most of these positive reviews are from indoctrinated members that were told to write a 5-star review to bolster the rating so the negative ratings become less obvious. Be warned that many people that leave this church needs years of counseling to overcome the emotional manipulation that they faced while in attendance. When you first walk in, you'll feel loved, accepted, and wanted in a way that you've never felt before. You'll completely immerse yourself in the culture and feel like you finally found your home. After awhile, you'll start to feel judged and if you're not in the "in crowd", you'll feel isolated and alone. You'll be told what books to read, which pictures to delete off of your social media (to avoid appearing vain), you'll be told what music to listen to, which movies you can watch. You are told that your church family takes priority over your biological family if your biological family does not attend. Most people within the church only marry other people within, leading to disturbing age differences. If you see a red flag, don't ignore it. If you feel controlled and manipulated, don't ignore it. If you hear members speaking negatively about people that you LOVED that have left, don't ignore it. If it makes you uncomfortable that the whole church is essentially run by two families that live luxurious lives off of the tithing that you pay, don't ignore it. I'm posting this anonymously out of fear that I may be subjected to further abuse. Either you devote every moment of your life to this place, or you are subjected to gossip and hate speech at your expense. Beware of the grooming and manipulation from leadership.
