Have used HBS for two companies and it was a fraction of the cost of using my accountant AND easier, with automated payment reminders etc. I have had zero problems and it's quick to pull info online when you need it also. One of this company's secret business practices is being an internet Domain Name squatter. Two years ago I bought a single domain name for my new small business, using the .org option because it was cheapest. The .com and .net were open and unused at that time. I went back later to add those options and I saw someone had bought both the .com and .net options almost immediately after I had paid for the .org. Using whois look up I saw that this company had squatted on both domain alternatives and had repriced them to $2000 each. I don't actually care at the end of it. .org is fine for me, I'm a local business and its for a simple email address, but it still speaks volumes that they would do this so quickly and so greedily. If they do this, while technically fully legal, I imagine they are probably behaving unethically in other ways in their business. Keep this in mind when considering doing business with them. Just because it's legal doesn't mean its ethical or trustworthy. read more

I'm really torn because I want to continue using them and still have a few accounts with them. I'm hoping they read this so they can improve. Their reps are nice and courteous, but their business practices and very "sketchy" and unethical sometimes. A real life example was when they seeming claim they have sent invoices to me (both via email and my office) only to have it arrive to me late. The late fee is currently $25 and they will not waive it (but in turn try to "up-sell" you on a 2 year subscription (and therefore waive the $25 late fee). To the customer, we will chalk up the $25 as a sunk cost, and tie ourselves in to 2 more years. I'd rather they waive the late fee of $25 (and out of gratitude, I would have signed up for 2 years). Perception is reality and most of team believe they are not legit, which is unfortunate because we could have referred them so many more clients/customers who also need this very service. (Side note - I get this receipt of payment with a templated signature from Richard Bell, Chairman. I wonder if he knows about this or even cares....bad leadership and inflexible company policies stem from the top). read more

I'd really suggest just filing on your own. The only reason to use a place like this is top provide a phoney physical address for a business you are registering. The only reason to do that is to hide from litigation. Unless you pay extra, this organization does not act as your registered agent, and because of this if you are sued then you won't be served and you'll receive a default judgement against you. And if you do make the mistake of paying extra, the only thing they do as a registered agent is sign things that need signing, like a court summons. This does not, however, mean that they will actually be on location or tell you about it (something that is not clear if you read through their very broad and vague contract). All they offer is a physical location for your business and paperwork filing, all of which you can do yourself (and, in most states, paperwork you can do completely online) for a fraction of what they charge. And because they use the same physical address for all businesses they register, you will be associated with the exact kinds of businesses that need to avoid being sued. read more
