I had a bracelet repaired here, but shortly after getting it back, it broke again in the exact same spot. Instead of fixing it under warranty, they charged me again and said it would take a week. After waiting eight days and driving an hour through traffic, I arrived only to find out it still wasn't ready. I finally picked it up yesterday--and today it broke again in the same place. When I noticed my wedding had a loose diamond, I took it in to get repaired. After inspection they could not simply tighten the diamond because the gold was so worn down (after almost 28 years of wear and tear). I've been taking my watch and rings here, once a year, for years (5+). Every time, I have the rings rhodium dipped and cleaned and the watch polished. This year was no different but I added in two bracelets and needed my watch battery replaced. After waiting the requisite 3 days, I drove across town (I'm in Midtown) to pickup only to find the watch not polished, just cleaned. I'd be irritated, no matter what bc it's more than 30 miles round trip but the woman was rather unapologetic and acted like it was my fault. I was willing to make the trip before but never again. We moved out of Houston at the beginning of the year. I knew that I appreciated this store while we lived there but I really miss it a whole lot since we left. My first experience with Hartmann jewelers was when I ordered matching necklaces online for my fiancé and my mother as a gift. The stone was nice but the online retailer really shortchanged us on the chain. When my future wife wore it the first time the clasp broke. So I wanted to fix both before my parents came to town. I looked around and tried here because of the positive reviews online on Yelp. They showed my fiancé and I a variety of chains and clasps. We settled on one and had to leave the necklaces because they had to solder the new chain on to the stone. They had them ready earlier than promised and my fiancé was very satisfied with the look and repairs. My mother didn't even know they were repaired and we didn't tell her. They also let me know that those stones were real topaz but significantly lighter than the ones we knew about. We also had a wonderful experience with them removing links to some inexpensive watches bought online. I love the employees and service. You know I felt very comfortable bringing fairly inexpensive pieces there because they really specialize in jewelry repairs. Where I would feel nervous or self conscious bringing those pieces to a major store I felt very comfortable. Typically a "mall " jewelry store is not known for outstanding service but I was pleasantly surprised by the service, attention to detail and integrity of this store! I took a Breitling watch in to are if they could repair the band. Not only do they have a certified watch smith on site, he and the entire staff treated me as if I were spending a bunch of money... when it was said and done, I only paid for the $25 service fee and he told me, "the repair was minor.... no worries!" They could have charged me more but we're honest and did not- AND. Leaned it for me as well! Service is always efficient - you can opt to wait (which I did) about 20 minutes or return the next day or whenever your item is ready. They are also honest if something cannot be repaired or is not worth repairing because of the cost. They also sell watch bands, clean your jewelry, sell custom earrings, necklaces and watches. Awesome place. After becoming engaged and discovering the ring too big, I definitely didn't want to lose it... but was chagrined to see reports of resizing being an activity that required I turn my ring over for a week or more. I searched for places that did it while you waited and found Hartmann. I called on a Friday afternoon and the woman told me I could come in that day and it would probably take about two hours. I dropped my ring off at 4:15 and was told it would be ready by 5. When I picked it up (for 75 dollars) the fix was undetectable and fit perfectly. So happy to find this place and give them a good review - save yourself trouble of sending your ring off and just bring it here! read more

Very happy with my service! I had 2 necklaces repaired and the battery in my cartier watch replaced and I was very happy with the employees and the quality of the repairs. As far as price, it was $15 to repair the necklace and $45 for the battery replacement. Not sure if any of that was a good price or not since this is the first time I've had to do any of this, but seemed reasonable enough to me and it was all very quick and convenient. Little tip: the store is located by visible changes on the south side of the mall so park in the area between JC Penny and Dillards - there's usually a lot less people trying to park in that area. read more

I bought a necklace for my girlfriend a few years ago (man time flies) and over the weekend the chain broke. I found Hartmann on Yelp with good reviews, and decided to hop over to Memorial City Mall to check them out. 2 employees were on at the time, diligently working on repairs. When I handed the necklace over to the employee (female, didn't catch name) she linked the chain back together and took the time to explain what happened (and how I could fix it moving forward). Since it was so simple, she didn't charge me anything - but she absolutely earned my business moving forward. Lord knows I've got a few watches that need some maintenance... I am so impressed with Hartmann!! I recently got engaged and needed my ring resized smaller (from a 7 to a 6). I took it in at 11AM today and they had it ready for me by 2PM, along with a watch that needed a new battery & added links. I had to pay $15 for express/same-day service (for the ring resize), but it was totally worth it not having to give my ring up for more than just a couple of hours! Not only did they work quickly, the ring looks seamless and you can't tell anything has been done to it (which is obviously what you want)! For the service they provide, the pricing is reasonable. Had a very negative experience with this business. Originally came in and got quoted $80 plus $15 express fee to resize a white gold wedding band with diamonds. Came back to drop of the ring week and a half later and was then told it would be $95 plus the $15 express fee. I was not upset with the price change more so the dishonesty when I spoke to the same exact people. Took my ring today to another jeweler near my home in the heights area and was only charged $50 which proved to me that I made the right decision by taking my ring else where. Recently a strand of my multi-strand pearl necklace broke and I brought to Hartmann to re-string. I asked to re-string 2 strands (including the broken one, both are the original strands and more than 6 years old). Hilda did the work beautifully. She re-strung all three strands to make them align well, and only charged me the price for 2 strands. I am glad my necklace is brought back to life, and appreciate the extra work Hilda did. This ring has sentimental value and the style was discontinued anyways, but they wanted to charge $35 to send it somewhere and fix it. Ummm, no. Then she told me I should try Hartmann, a tiny little place near Dillards in one of the sad side branches next to a cookie / pretzel place in said mall. I waited in line for about 10 minutes, even though the line was 2 people deep, but it was just one guy behind the counter working on repairs & a girl that cashiered & consulted. I showed her my ring, she said all they had to do was solder it, gave me an estimate of $15, & told me it would take 3-5 days. I took my wedding ring in to be resized larger and Hartmann did a fabulous job at a reasonable cost. They even made the extra piece blend in with the pattern! I had another jeweler say that they couldn't match the pattern so it wouldn't be complete all the way around , so I took it elsewhere. I'm glad that I took it to Hartmann. I brought my new watch here to modify today, it ended up a nightmare. The reason why l chose this place was because of all those good comments. l had ask the lady to make a hole in the leather band of my watch because it was too large for me. Unfortunately, she didn't even measure my wrist. As a result, she made it too tight. l can't even wear it without it straining my wrist... I asked her "why didn't you measure my wrist before you made a hole in the strap?" Her respone was not so nice. She said "l dont need to measure your wrist, l'll just make another hole next to the other one." Then l asked her if she can fix it. unfortunately, she made another hole between the original hole and the first hole that she made(there is not enough space anymore ). Plus the second hole that she made is crooked!!!! I know my watch is not the super an expensive luxury watch(it was a Raymond Weil), but it shouldn't treat it like this! This place is great. Back in December 2013, a lady who worked at Ben Bridge in Memorial City Mall told me about Hartmann after the jeweler there was unavailable to resize my ring. I am so glad I went there! They were able to resize it and had it ready in an hour since I was going to be shopping anyway. I went again to repair the same ring because the shank was bent recently. They told me it would be ready within 5-7 days, however I got it back in 3 days. They're pricing is inexpensive and they take the time to make sure your jewelry repair is done right.
