Being so used to CCSU's campus, coming here for grad school is totally different experience. The campus is much smaller, due to the fact that it is a branch campus of UCONN. There are only five buildings: the small technology building, the library (with additional classrooms and an auditorium), the School of Social Work building, the Undergraduate building, and the maintenance building. That's pretty much it. There is not much of food options in between classes, only in the undergrad building you can pick up some on the go goods. It's like a small convenience store with a couple of microwaves and lots of seating. If you want real food, your best bet is to go to Bishop's Corner or Blue Back Square, both within a couple miles of the campus. During the warmer months a lot of people like to walk their dogs or push baby strollers through the campus. There is also a small pond that is frequently inhabited by ducks and geese as well. Just watch out for geese poop littered throughout the sidewalks. I wonder what UCONN will make of this campus after they move back to Hartford. I place my money on it being bought by University of St. Joseph. Either way, I'm sure the new campus will be much more beautiful than the current one. Plus the relocation will give students a lot more and better options to eat and play in between classes.

I did however recently spend a weekend on the campus familiarizing myself with the grounds and availing myself of the facilities. The campus is spread across 300 acres along the Farmington River. Most of the campus buildings are located inside a mile loop surrounded by sprawling fields that include a football field, several baseball and soccer fields and tennis courts. The campus also has an art museum, concert hall, greenhouse and chicken coop. There is a large athletic facility with an 8 lane 25 yard swimming pool. The dorms are clean and well updated. The interiors were all well maintained with clean carpets and freshly painted walls. Every thing looks like it has been recently renovated and doesn't have the worn out institutional feel a lot of dorms I've seen have. I only had a chance to see a small part of the campus but what I saw was very impressive. While at Loomis I went jogging along the mile loop around campus, went sledding near the river, and went swimming in the indoor pool. Overall Loomis Chaffee has a beautiful campus that feels more like a small liberal arts college than a high school and gives you the feeling of being nestled away deep into the heart of New England. The school has an excellent academic reputation and a particularly good history department. There is a lot of support, either from teachers (mostly living on campus) or student tutoring centers. Student body is a mix of all nationalities and every kind of background. Everyone can be his or her self in this community. It is not at all pretentious, rather, the atmosphere is pretty down to earth. If you are lucky enough to be admitted, it's a great place to enjoy high school. There is something for everyone, and even after spending four years there, it's hard to take advantage of everything the school has to offer! There are so many opportunities. The coursework is demanding at any level, so be ready to study. You will not have a lot of free time, as everything is very structured. AP courses are no longer offered here, they only offer regular courses, honors, and CL. Courses on offer go to very high levels.

I am a not-so-knowledgeable Jew, and his answers are clear, insightful, and often inspirational. The shul is blessed to have a young Rav as well, Rav Fried, - very learned, yet easy-going. And women and men who teach and support Jews at all levels. In sentiment i am a Reform Jew, but i am very comfortable in this Modern Orthodox environment.

I was here for a football game. They are still building the sports complex and it is looking…read morewonderful. The field was turf and looked amazing. My only issue with the venue is the large fence surrounding the football field and the stands on the back side of the fence. The highest levels of the bleachers are about 6 feet and the fence is about 10-12 feet. When you try and watch the football game you have to look through the chain link fence or stand up on the top of the bleachers to see over the top of the fence. To me this is a design mistake and makes trying to watch a game difficult. Easy to get to, park and the field access is convenient. All-in-all I am a fan of this complex.
