Our family met Jamie Collins at the Portland Beautification Committee's Portrait Mini Session in…read morelate November (2019). Jamie and her small crew met us at a beautiful gazebo in Portland. There were four different backgrounds set up for the event. Thankfully, two of the backdrops were located inside. Jamie's communication with us during the shoot was amazing. She was clear with her directions and got our small family of three into over a dozen different positions in the short fifteen minutes. Our son was nervous before meeting Jamie but quickly warmed to her. It wasn't long before she had him smiling, giggling and playfully posing for her. Correspondence from the very beginning was top notch. We received an email confirming the appointment, a reminder email and shortly after the shoot another email with information on how to access our pictures. Questions that I emailed were addressed quickly both by the staff and Jamie. I truly feel blessed for having met Jamie. She is a beautiful, talented photographer that I would highly recommend to anyone.

After interviewing tons in the area, I am SO glad I hired Jamie- not only was she talented, a breeze to work with (came to our house with all necessary supplies for a private shoot!), but she was so thoughtful, kind and made the process light and fun! Jamie also had incredible experience with newborns (and new parents :)), so it was easy to capture beautiful pictures. We did a few "outfit changes" and Jamie encouraged us to hop in a few pictures too, she went above & beyond. For the quality of service and quantity of pictures, Jamie had the best prices in the area too. Will be hiring for all future family pictures!

We all gathered at a restaurant for lunch and invited her on us, drinks included. We began taking pictures. There was no sense of direction by the photographer, she seemed lost and unorganized. My sister and her husband decided to take pictures on the Brooklyn Bridge and surrounding areas. As far as payment goes, 50% deposit was placed at the time of booking and paid in full when she showed up for the wedding, which I greatly regret. I constantly had to text message Pdot for the images which she always had an excuse as to why my pictures weren't ready. I asked on a couple of occasions for simply my money back, and when I did she would email me a handful of pictures at a time. The pictures that she actually forward me were low-quality, very shiny, and just a disappointment. She is not professional and I honestly regret booking her for such a special occasion.

What we love about her pictures are how natural the edits turn out. They capture the true essence of the moment with very natural colors. She was so good at making sure we appear comfortable and genuine--which was quite a challenge for my camera-shy wife. She made it so easy, and we had such a good time shooting with her. She even had the perfect locations and backdrops despite the fact that we had her shoot in multiple states for us! And she even worked overnight to fit tight time restraints during the wedding craze. She's great at making sure it's a painless process with the perfect results. Even though we now live in different states, we still look for opportunities to reconnect for photo shoots when she is in town because we were so impressed. 100% recommendation. We will be using her again!

Sarah was recommended to my husband and I by a mutual friend. As a first time bride with limited…read moreexperience working with a professional photographer and a lot of anxiety about being photographed, I can honestly say Sarah was an absolute dream to work with and more than compensated for my complete incompetence ("where do I put my hands?!") to create beautiful photographic memories for us and our families. Our wedding took place outside of NY (she travels!), but in the months leading up to the ceremony Sarah set up several calls, emails and a video chat with me and my husband to get to know us and what we valued most in terms of capturing the day. From the start, communication was very easy and I felt like she offered sound advice while also honoring our wishes. Sarah offers several tiers of service - we opted to have her add a second photographer - and that was money well spent since we had multiple venues throughout the day that needed coverage. Sarah clearly loves what she does and that was apparent throughout the process. On our wedding day she and her 2nd photographer were friendly yet professional, I honestly didn't notice them at all during the entire ceremony and they got some great natural shots without blocking anyone or distracting from the proceedings, which I know can be a challenge. Sarah was gracious and kept a good sense of humor throughout, which was much appreciated - especially when a hail and wind storm broke out in the middle of our couples shoot on top of a mountain pass :) She made it work and the photos still looked stunning. The following day, she sent us a preview gallery of about 20 shots, with the full gallery available in about six weeks. Purchasing prints from her website is also very easy. In sum, I definitely recommend hiring Sarah - I couldn't be happier with her service as well as the quality of the photographs.

I had always noticed the photos she took which adorned the walls of her office at Paramount where she and I had worked together. When she decided to leave her job as an executive at Paramount and pursue photography as her means of livelihood, I had no doubt that she would be a success at that as well as in the entertainment industry. I hired her to shoot my wedding in 1998 and the photos turned out fabulously. If you know me well, you'd know that I almost never like photos of myself :-O and I am a perfectionist. Well, I was extremely happy with the results. Laurie's style of documentary shooting is just stunning in her ability to capture a moment, a thought, and an essence in a single photo. She truly loves her work and it shows in the way she interacts with people whether from behind the camera or on the street. I recommend Laurie's work wholeheartedly! The funniest thing is that the folks who hire Laurie to shoot their weddings, end up hiring her again to shoot their babies photos in a year or two following the wedding! --Judy
