Busby Concrete - Cracks and really shouldn't have been poured at a point. Points aren't good. Squared off is better.

    Busby Concrete

    (1 review)

Brandon and his crew poured concrete at my property twice. Once back in March and the second time…read moreat the end of June. He did so for as a sub for Glenn Walker. Brandon designed my garage floor so that it was not level. My existing driveway was not level so they went with the existing slope of the driveway which was a terrible idea. Brandon designed my garage floor such that water could flow into my garage but then flow out. And then there's a tiny little grate in front of my garage door. The problem...I have a four inch opening on one side of my garage where my garage door doesn't fully close and that tiny grate continually clogs. To be fair Brandon wanted to put a bigger grate in but Glenn said no. Here's the thing. My neighbor across the street had a job for Brandon but Brandon flat out told him he couldn't warranty the work. Brandon knew this person so he was up front and honest with him. I'm new to the area. I feel Brandon and Glenn weren't up front or honest and weren't concerned about doing the job correctly. When Brandon came back at the end of June to pour sidewalk his crew was messy. To this day forms are still in the ground. Concrete is cracking in areas that aren't even stressed points. He poured in an area that was supposed to have metal grates lay over top yet no lip. Additionally, he cracked my existing driveway with the use of his heavy machinery. I asked Brandon to come back out but he refuses. He said he was waiting to get with Mr Walker. Mr Walker walked off the job when I refused to give him final payment because he wasn't even finished with the job. During construction my husband was down in San Antonio going through radiation so I was here dealing with much of the construction. I felt I was taken advantage of. I was talked down to. Not by Brandon but I don't feel Brandon did a good job of letting Mr Walker know how things should have been done. I've spoken to a Licensed Approved TREC Inspector, a forensic inspector with over 20 years of construction experience, another construction expert with over 20 years experience, and a concrete expert with over 20 years experience plus another individual with construction experience and they all said the same thing. You never ever design a garage floor to allow water to penetrate ever never ever!!!

    G&D Pool’s

This should be an easy 5 star review. I had planned and counted on it being 5 stars…read more I requested a bid on Yelp and G&D was first to respond. They texted and showed up same day. Identified my problem, pool flooding backyard, said they could replace part and fix it for $100. DONE! Paid them and they replaced the part. We also discussed re-cementing all my pool rocks and they gave me a reasonable bid Pool overflowed again that evening. They came back out several days later and said I needed to replace a couple valves and a gasket for another couple hundred bucks installed. The price was right as it was the same price installed as I would have paid at Leslie's just to purchase it. They Installed it and even installed a pump valve (toilet valve) to regulate water height at no cost. Total 5 star experience! I'm ready to recommend them to the world and are starting to tell all my neighbors. So why not 5 stars???? I hired them to repair the stones around the pool. They said the job was too big for them so they were going to hire another group. Group showed up and for the most part did good work, except for some MAJOR issues. 1) they didn't fix the two corners of the pool where the leak was happening that started this whole discussion. There's a 1/2 inch gap that's 2 feet long on one end. 2) they were filthy and were throwing their junk everywhere and making a mess. David at G&D was checking in throughout the day and he said he would address it. 3) I WATCHED them repeatedly slinging the concrete off their hands and into my pool and spa!!!!!! I again reached out to David and said this needs to be addressed immediately. He said he would and also that he was coming back to clean everything up. 4) when they left, it looked like solid work for a great price. My pool was so cloudy from the dirt and concrete that we couldn't see 6 inches into the water. That was Thursday 4/6. Friday 4/7 David showed up and said he was there to pick up and vacuum the pool.... I had to leave for an appointment, but based on prior experience of good work, I went ahead and paid him and trusted them to clean up. When I returned, there appeared to have been zero cleanup. There was concrete all over the sidewalk, around hot tub, in our flower beds, and then there was inside the pool, fountain and spa. It was so cloudy with concrete dirt that you couldn't see in the water at all. Saturday: texted David at G&D about various concerns with the pool, still flooding, concrete not done in the key area we discussed, of which he said they would correct, and that his clean up was really lacking. He said he would clean up better when he returned to fix the concrete; no ETA. I'm frustrated as it's Easter weekend and we're about to have a house full of people so I spent 6.5 hours working on my pool in an attempt to clear out the debris. During my cleanup, I even found soft drink metal caps thrown into our pool. I removed close to 30 POUNDS of concrete shards and dirt. Much of it was the size of the palm of my hand. I have big hands! I had to clean my pool filters 4 days in a row. It takes a solid hour to clean the filters... As they went from 15-20 PSI back above 30 in a matter of hours. Also, my pool filter basket broke from the pressure. Easter Sunday came and went with no word from G&D, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (my wife's birthday), Thursday... I finally texted Thursday 4/13 and said it appears pretty obvious they aren't coming back to do the work that was supposed to be done the prior Friday. They said, "we have you on the books for this coming Monday." Let me restate there had been ZERO communication. Who does shotty work, never fixes the original problem, learns of 20+lbs of debris left in a pool and still waits a week and a half to return???? I'm done. When I asked why they did such a crappy job "vacuuming" my pool for the cleanup, he said they only had limited equipment and it was sucking everything into my skimmer which pushes all that concrete into my pool pump! What kind of insanity is this???? I'm lucky they didn't totally destroy my pool as they clearly have no clue what they are doing. Stay away. Stay far far away.

I had been referred to G&D Pools by Romo Pools in Irving. I was having a complete remodel done to…read moremy pool and Romo suggested G&D to repair my decking and check for a known leak I had. David was quick to communicate and his dad, I can't spell his dad's name but it is something similar to Fidicio(?), was incredibly knowledgeable. They were able to locate and repair one leak I knew I had. Then, they went out of their way to locate and repair a second leak I didn't know I had! My pool has not worked this well in over two years! After Romo completed their work, David, his dad and their crew finished the deck and all the things they did. 5 STARS EASY! I even referred them to one of my friends who had an issue with their pool and G&D are repairing that too. I would recommend these guys to anyone who needs pool repair. The last suggestion for review is value, was it a good value? YES! The work the performed for the money they charged was in line with I had been quoted with another company. Great value, great people and easy to communicate with. Again, 5 stars!
