I do like Harris Teeter. If I want higher end items (produce, meats, cheeses) or a nicer selection of beer and wine, this is the grocery store to go to. That said, I'm not buying all of my groceries here, simply because they are higher priced overall. Bush's Blackeye Peas taste the same from Walmart and much cheaper, as an example. I do like the self checkouts here that accept ApplePay. Very fast and convenient. This store has a great selection of local, regional and national beers. Also a great wine selection. Went in to get breakfast at the breakfast bar. Unfortunately it doesn't open till nine but as you walk in Mr. Andy is sitting there making fresh omelettes and bagels can't beat it for $11. I got me a juice of fruit, two bagels and a extra large omelette with cheese, spinach, mushrooms, onions, and bacon. THIS is my #1 Harris Teeter supermarket!! Why? 1. The service here is always elevated one or 2 levels above the others in the area. Not saying these Harris Teeters have rude service or anything, but this one seems to offer something different. Each checkout staff member is always friendly and sociable. They don't ignore you or act as if their lives are lost forever. 2. Senior Citizen - All other age demographic ratio is about 50%. Why would I mention this? This location is not nearly as bustling inside; offers a slower pace of shopping, more inventory of beer (college students empty out the local craft beers and coolers at the College Rd location) and they seem to give this HT a pleasant and wholesome vibe. 3. Baggers!!! This location always seem to have baggers to assist you for large grocery purchases. I don't mind bagging myself when it's a small(er) trip but I admit that I am super slow and awful in the bagging arts. Items just pile up down the sliding ramp when I'm bagging while my anxiety escalates. The other 2 HT's in the area have them occasionally...but it's maybe 20% of the time whereas this Oleander Rd. location has them consistently. If I'm choosing to spend over $200 of our money at a grocery store, I would hope to receive the convenience of a bagger to help out. Just sayin'. 4. Great selection of quality foods, meats, produce and dairy with inventory levels far above the supercenters. 5. Easy parking situation. Simple to get in and simple to get out. 6. Order Ahead and pick up option through the Harris Teeter app. Place your grocery order through the app and you pick it up later. For $5 extra, a Harris Teeter personal shopper will gather it all up for you and bring it to your vehicle out front. 7. Harris Teeter fuel points. For every dollar spent, you accrue 1 point to go toward savings at BP gas stations. These do expire after each month and resets. 8. Harris Teeter brand French Vanilla creamer. This is the local HT halo store. They offer more diverse and interesting products than 99% of all other grocers, including the super expensive ones. Best bakery, deli, hot food bar, produce and they continue to add new ideas and offerings to keep things interesting. Where else in ILM are going to buy dry aged beef? Nowhere I have found. I was fortunate to be able to shop on Thursday, where they have a PRIME RIB carving station available!! $10 for 10-12 ounces of super nice prime rib, with potatoes and veg...fed the wife and I with leftovers. This location is not one of my favorites, I prefer the one on south college, but it's close to my house so I run here frequently. I have to say their deli section is always awesome. I stopped by for $5 sushi Friday and I was not disappointed. I normally go to restaurants for sushi, and this easily competed with the quality I'm used to. read more

No big deal; however, 4 white customers we promptly checked out by the same person who redirected me to self checkout. Then management was ineffective and poorly trained. I frequent at least three HT's and lately all have gone down during the checkout process. If they dont want to put cashiers on the cash register to move the very long lines then they need to put in more self checkouts because those are overcrowded as well. Also, what happened to floor managers? It seems as if there are always two or three employees at the registers loitering back and forth but doing absolutely zero to help move the line. This review is just about the bathroom... Taking a 500 mile road trip with 3 kids under 7 why yes you can imagine I have seen the inside of some horrible bathrooms along my way there and back. I walked into this bathroom and was so surprised at just how clean it was and how great it smelled that as soon as I got back to the van I commented about just how great the bathroom was to my wife and she cracked up. We moved from Orlando, FL and were huge fans of Publix Grocery stores. They are well lit, clean, and have friendly employees so we were so sad to find out that Publix hasn't expanded to this part of the US. Harris Teeter, however, has filled that empty hole in our hearts. It has recently expanded and includes a small prepared food section. We have eaten a lot of their already prepared meals and items but with the exception of the sesame noodles, I've never been too impressed. The convenience, selection of grocery items, and friendly staff members make up for their prepared food section. If you love coffee creamers, this is the store for you! They have a huge selection! Its my favorite part of shopping :) Also, they have their VIC card program which has saved us hundreds of dollars over this past year. The last time we shopped, the cashier said that we have saved almost $700 this year. That makes me happy and a loyal customer! read more

I love this location. I started shopping at HT because they do double coupons. The cashiers are always very friendly and they really keep the store clean and organized. They don't mind if you use coupons here. Some stores make you feel bad about it or act like it's an inconvenience. They are super helpful and are able to answer questions accurately. They have a really nice meat and seafood counter along with a good selection of fresh produce. I actually tried shopping elsewhere to save money but it just wasn't the same. I could live in a good grocery store, Harris Teeter is no exception. Although this store is more expensive than other grocery stories the selection and customer service is unrivaled.There are multiple locations of this store in Wilmington some of which have been remodeled with a large beer/wine area and a space with hot food bar, sushi station and pizza oven. I love this store primarily because of the size and product availability. When you first enter there are multiple redbox kiosks conveniently located by the door. To the left is a large well lit produce area with both organic and other fruits and vegetables from all over the world. This is the only store in town I can find specialty fruit like grapples, star fruit and pomelos. Immediately following the produce is the fresh food made in store like rotisserie chicken, pizza, sushi, fresh baked bread, salad bar and full hot bar with american and Chinese food. When I am in a hurry I like to stop here to pick up something quick and easy for dinner. This is an excellent substitute to fast food. To the right of the front entrance is a large array of fresh flowers and balloons. I buy flowers for my wife regularly and although they are not cheap the selection is comparable to a florist with more reasonable prices. At the back of the store is a seafood market and meat butcher. The seafood selection is beautiful. Last week I bought local shrimp, alaskan sockeye salmon and crab legs on sale for $6.47lb. The butcher display of dry aged angus cut steaks is nothing short of impressive. The rest of the store resembles your traditional neighborhood market. Not only is it well organized but there are also select isles for gluten free and kosher products. There is also a customer service desk near the entrance if you need help finding a product or want to request a special order. Pro Tips: If you are in a rush use the self service checkout! It's pleasant to shop in, the prices are higher, customer service is better, except for check out. My only complaint is checking out is SO slow. Food Lion is much better for that. Anyways, as I see it you have price, quality, and service. Pick two of these because you will not get all 3. I would've given HT five stars if not for the slow check out time. And, time is precious. I've shopped at this store for 20 years. I love some of the people that work here but I cannot for the life of me figure out why there are so many out of date items on their shelves. This has gone on for years. I confronted a manager a while back about some Starbucks Frappachino that was 6 months out of date. Three days later it was still on the shelves. He couldn't be bothered to remove it. Yogurt is ALWAYS out of date-today I found Oikos that was 2 weeks old. Sargento cheese sticks 6 months old. Tonight I cooked a pizza for my daughter and myself. After we ate it I saw on the bag of the do-it-yourself crust that it was to have been used by April 3. Why is this so hard? This is the reason I shop at Publix most of the time. Easily the best grocery store in Wilmington. The customer service is top notch, and they always have fresh pizza, sushi, and subs. Whenever I have trouble finding something, I just ask one of the employees and they take me straight to the item; they all must know the store like the back of their hand. One time I was going through the line and the cashier noticed that one of the items I was buying was expired, so they just let me have it and a new one both for free!
