We spent over two hours playing with our young grandchildren at the free water park - open 10am-7pm. Lots of water features to keep kids cool on a summer day geared toward kids up to about age 10 or so. Picnic benches and shade available. Next to the water park is an area of padded Astroturf with a slide and climbing net. The water park also has a section for toddlers with a gentle stream of water for the really young children to play in. The snack bar opens later and has a limited selection of treats and drinks so I'd recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks for you and your kids. For the adults, there's a nice coffee shop across the street that also sells pastries and beer. Fishing and swimming activities for older kids, teens, and adults are available at the beach area and lake - open 1-6pm ($2-$5 dollar entry fee, pay with cash or check only). Nice basketball courts here also.

This is a hiddem gem in the Madison area. It's a bit off the beaten path in Verona but worth the…read moretrip. Zero depth entry, salt water, solar heated pool. It doesn't get any better than this. I wear contacts and usually I take them out because my eyes become irritated from the chlorine. Not here though! I can keep my eyes open (without googles) and there are no issues. They take a break for 15 minutes on the hour for 18 and over swim. Otherwise, kids reign free in the pool for 45 minutes. There's a shallow end with some kid features and a deep end. Kids will need to pass a test from the lifeguards in order to swim on their own in the deep end (it's marked off). When you're taking a break, enjoy a freezie pop for 25 cents or a choco taco from the concessions area. If you're looking to cool off on a hot summer day, look no further!

Still close to Madison and surrounding areas, it is open to the public and a short drive. Decent changing rooms, large parking lot and then we get to the actual pool. Nice layout of the adult pool connecting with the kids pool. Tons of lounging chairs, picnic tables at actual pool area. Large deep end area and lap pool permanently roped off. Pool was extremely clean, tidy and staff was great. This felt a little old fashioned, in a fun way. Surrounded my big mature trees, rolling hills of Verona, it was a breath of fresh air! The picnic and playground area just north of the pool has a huge wooden playground set in the shape of an ark. There's Zebras, Lions and giraffes in pairs to accompany the ark. Who doesn't love a zebra to climb on? Huge field to play in and more picnic tables. FUN! We will be there next summer, two by two!

The playground is big and well taken care of. The tennis courts are lit for nighttime play and in good shape. There is plenty of room for a soccer game or to run with your dog. This is a very dog-friendly park and often you will see multiple dogs out for their daily stroll. Bikers make good use of the paved areas. I visit about 5 times a week and I'm so glad this park is available.

The green space here is large enough for a soccer field and a baseball game. There's only one small picnic table on the property and no bathrooms. This is a public park, but there's only street parking available.

I was in the area picking something up and decided to take a short walk through this park. My…read morenephews and I used to come here in Spring when everything was still covered in snow, and in winter, the park is popular for cross-country skiing, so I'm quite familiar with it. I've also attended a foraging class here through the Madison Public Library, which was a great experience. The trails are easy to walk, but keep an eye out for black walnuts that ripen and drop onto the ground--you could easily step on one and twist an ankle (as I unfortunately did). Along the way, you might spot squirrels and hear birds singing in the bushes. I even came across some mushrooms, which reminded me of the foraging class. There's a restroom facility and a pond nearby, and in winter, local families love coming here for sledding on hill. I've done it myself--it's a lot of fun, just make sure to protect your back on the way down! Don't say I didn't warn you!

If you have your own skates you can skate for as long as you want. They have 2 rinks, one for regular ice skating and the other for hockey. They have the green assistance rollators, for when you need assistance ice skating, that are useful. The ice was chipped in some areas, but overall good quality. There is a huge hill close by that looks like it can be sledded when there's more snow.
