We spent over two hours playing with our young grandchildren at the free water park - open 10am-7pm. Lots of water features to keep kids cool on a summer day geared toward kids up to about age 10 or so. Picnic benches and shade available. Next to the water park is an area of padded Astroturf with a slide and climbing net. The water park also has a section for toddlers with a gentle stream of water for the really young children to play in. The snack bar opens later and has a limited selection of treats and drinks so I'd recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks for you and your kids. For the adults, there's a nice coffee shop across the street that also sells pastries and beer. Fishing and swimming activities for older kids, teens, and adults are available at the beach area and lake - open 1-6pm ($2-$5 dollar entry fee, pay with cash or check only). Nice basketball courts here also.

It's a cute little spot near the neighborhood with a pond and a small swing set. The path is pretty well maintained, and it's a nice place for a short walk or an easy loop around the area.

There is also a bubbler and portable bathroom available in the summer months. The best part about this park is that it is next to Stricker pond and has a nice trail that goes all the way around it, perfect for nature watching- which includes lots of turtles and birds and blooming lily pads in the summer. The pond is away from major roads so it is a very peaceful place to hike and has lots of benches to sit on.

For example, they have weekly open play pick-up volleyball with a paid membership. The first irritating thing is that it changes month to month, you have to check their websites for open dates and times. Second, it's only ONE court! *smh* Some days there are so many players that you have to rotate in. Other days there's not enough players unless you bring your own squad. What does it take to just set up two courts?! They have a really cool tiki bar outside with a firepit and patio furniture, but it's not in use. There's even an outdoor stage for live music but I've never seen a band there. There's a kitchen and dining area but the set-up is reminiscent of a elementary school cafeteria. Kids eat free with a purchase of an adult meal. If they just get better tables, some high-tops, and offer quality menu items other than just your typical concession stand food, more families would opt to make this their dinner destination instead of a last-minute emergency/as-needed joint. They have $10 pitchers on Tuesday nights, but a couple weeks ago, all their taps were Oktoberfests! *grrr* Again, offer some better options like some Lagunitas IPA and you'd have a line at the register. I am a slow runner and Haen was near the end of my run when I lived in this neighborhood, so I had a few minutes to watch as I rounded the park. Haen is a nice asset to the neighborhood.

I wear contacts and usually I take them out because my eyes become irritated from the chlorine. Not here though! I can keep my eyes open (without googles) and there are no issues. They take a break for 15 minutes on the hour for 18 and over swim. Otherwise, kids reign free in the pool for 45 minutes. There's a shallow end with some kid features and a deep end. Kids will need to pass a test from the lifeguards in order to swim on their own in the deep end (it's marked off). When you're taking a break, enjoy a freezie pop for 25 cents or a choco taco from the concessions area. If you're looking to cool off on a hot summer day, look no further!

Still close to Madison and surrounding areas, it is open to the public and a short drive. Decent changing rooms, large parking lot and then we get to the actual pool. Nice layout of the adult pool connecting with the kids pool. Tons of lounging chairs, picnic tables at actual pool area. Large deep end area and lap pool permanently roped off. Pool was extremely clean, tidy and staff was great. This felt a little old fashioned, in a fun way. Surrounded my big mature trees, rolling hills of Verona, it was a breath of fresh air! The picnic and playground area just north of the pool has a huge wooden playground set in the shape of an ark. There's Zebras, Lions and giraffes in pairs to accompany the ark. Who doesn't love a zebra to climb on? Huge field to play in and more picnic tables. FUN! We will be there next summer, two by two!
