To avoid high out of pocket expenses you can visit them instead of the emergency room if it's a non-life threatening emergency. Mom is on the right preventative meds so there was no need to prescribe her anything different. The nurse practitioner who's just as qualified as a doctor was very nice, took her time, and was very attentive. I actually prefer them as they are VERY thorough and you're not rushed like just another number... They also offer discounts for patients without insurance and self paying patients.

No good morning, how are you... nothing to greet a new patient or even an existing one. Specifically advised them what I needed, the front office and nurse who brought me to the back confirmed they have the vaccines I needed for traveling. When the doctor came in he advised he did not have the Hep A vaccine in office. Clearly annoyed because I told them if you're unable to administer all then I don't need to see the doctor. I will just go somewhere else. By this time I was beyond unimpressed with my visit here. The doctor took me to the nurse who would give me the shots they did have in house. The first thing out her mouth is that my insurance does not cover my shots. Well, seeing that I called my insurance myself and confirmed they do and so did the woman at the front this is now news to me. Her response, "Oh they must of changed it then". Okaaay. After giving my shots she says ok you're done. I walk to the front office waiting on some paperwork but the front office woman tells me your done you can go. So, I don't get any paperwork on what I did here today. I just took a set of vaccines. No information on the vaccines I took, side affects or how about letting me know that I have to come back in one month for a booster. How about asking me if I'd like to schedule my next appointment. Or, most people get these immunization shots because they need it either for travel or school. How about taking the initiative and providing these verifying documents instead of the patient having to request it. Everyone in this office needs a few lessons of customer relations. How to take the extra step in providing a good experience for patients walking into your office, especially for the first time. I would never go back there and never choose this office as my primary nor would I recommend it to anyone. When it comes to be medical care you don't want your doctor's office be half-assed.

I developed a UTI and called the office and requested an appt or medication to be sent to my pharmacy. UTI's are not something to slack around with. The longer you go, the more painful it gets. When i spoke to a staff member, i was told that i could come in the following day after 3pm. Now, i had a choice. Go to the ER and get medication or ask the staff member to reconsider this as an emergency because i needed medication.... She said, 'Tomorrow afternoon is the best we can do." That was it. When you treat patients like this, it's time to fire the doctor and find another one. Believe me, I emailed the doc and told him exactly what transpired.. All the staff had to do was call in my medication to my pharmacy and i would have been out of pain, by evening. But the staff member didn't take the doctor into consideration and the possibility of the doctor being fired. Dr. McKenzie needs to have his staff retrained, or replaced. It's bad for his business.
