He put me through 2 rounds of Invisalign with both failing resulting in teeth shifting back making me unable to eat just like before treatment. My treatment was paid for by my grandpa before he died. Nearly $6,000 total. I was broken just like before the treatment but now with even worst TMJ issues which I didn't have before treatment. Thankfully I found MCDonald and clinger orthodontics. They said Fanning should never have done any orthodontic treatment without first doing a CBCT of the jaw joints. But he did and put me in a horrible place physically and financially. You broke me Fanning , but I refused to give up and now I'm doing everything in my power to fix my jaw. A lot of orthodontic issues are caused from TMJ issues. If you value yours or your child's health I highly recommend a different orthodontist that does MRI and CBCT of jaw joints before moving teeth. I have no idea how this guy got his license but it should be suspended until he learns what TMJ means.

I ended up here because I wanted a second opinion. The first place I went to suggested to me that only braces would do the trick for alignment and to correct mild mandibular retrognathia, the consideration of mandibular osteotomy and distraction osteogenesis. It was thorough I'll give them that, but I wanted Invisalign. My alignment issues were cosmetic at least or only negligibly deficit in function at worst so all of that seemed excessive. So I decided to part ways with that establishment and seek a course of treatment elsewhere. I do not remember how I came across Haltom Orthodontics, but it was definitely a worthwhile discovery. The evaluation was thorough and the communication was an open dialog between patient and doctor. I discussed my expectations and desired treatment and listened to how that could fit in my plan of care. They accepted my insurance, Delta Dental, and I paid the rest using in-house financing; it was a simple process. I was able to pay for the entire treatment over the course of a year. So, long story short I was able to get an all Invisalign treatment plan, correct my alignment deficits & functionality, minimize the mild retrognathia and keep my fully functional wisdom teeth. Post-plan corrections and tweaks are part of the deal to hone in the finishing touches and I opted to keep final retainers as aligners, and not a permanent fixture, also a conversation of options. I love dialog! From the front desk to assistants and molders to Dr. Darren Haltom himself, the entire staff is friendly and welcoming. The tooth in question was closest to my ear. Apparently had a large cavity upon which Tran decided to replace with a filling. He came at me with no topical and a needle to my upper palate which hurt! I told him I had never had an upper palatal shot before upon which he assured me I had. I was going to the same dentist for 15 years until he retired and I knew every shot I was given and for what. Then he proceeded to give me the fastest filling I ever had declaring he had an emergency enroute. Prior to this he wanted to know why I had checked depression on my health chart. When I told him it was due to sudden death of my husband he laughed! I went home with a filling that began to throb. I called the next day. He was out of town. Within the next three days I began to hear a hissing in my ear on side of the tooth. He offered to replace the filling as I mentioned a persistent ringing in my ear he blew it off. I ended up with a case of tinnitus since and two trips to ENTs. I ended up back at my dentists who told me the tooth should have been root canaled or extracted. It is too coincidental that I now live with persistent tinnitus. I feel nerve damage was done during procedure. Did not care for this man in his so called talent or chair side manner. I'm angry at myself for not leaving the office right then after he laughed at loss of my spouse.

Med Spa? It hits you in the face when you walk in. How about just dentistry? 2. My first experience they used some sort of plaque laser that I later was charged for because it wasn't covered. I had never heard of this treatment before, and I'm not entirely sure it's of significant value. 3. I was told that I needed to have a 360 scan of my mouth or head for today's appointment - that it's a requirement of the doctor to provide care. This scan is only 50% covered by most insurance, including mine, resulting in a $100+ out of pocket bill. 4. This is the same practice that billed me for a bunch of DeFazio's work when HE was my dentist. I told them I'm NEVER going to pay those invoices. Long story short: They have quality dentists and hygienists, but the business is a money-grubbing enterprise that will stop at nothing to sell you additional services, many of which have nothing to do with dentistry. I found it extremely off-putting. I just want a dentist to make sure my teeth are healthy. I don't want all that crap. He's going to get $0 from me from now on.

It's fascinating seeing your own teeth. Partway through the cleaning, the hygenist handed me a q-tip with some vaseline because my lips were getting chapped. I was so stunned by the consideration my brain rebooted. They also have TVs mounted on the ceiling so you have some entertainment (or distraction). I don't particularly fear the dentist or pain, but they are rather gentle. The office itself is very clean and modern and they always offer water and coffee.

That was 5 years ago and it has been h*ll for my son ever since. The implants didn't fit him correctly, which they refused to do anything about. Most of his teeth have broken, with only some being replaced. It is so bad right now that he can barely eat. Did I mention this was a $30K investment. Yes, between the surgery that was needed to prep for the implants, the implants themselves, and Dr. Essenmacher's fees, we paid $30,000 for 5 years of pain and misery. Now her solution is to get implants made from different material. To the tune of another $25K! Oh, but she'll do it for only $2,500. Another $2,500??!!! She should be covering the cost since we've already paid for the implants. And the most disappointing thing is that Dr Essenmacher portrays herself as a Christian woman. That is what made me suggest to my son that he sees her for the implants. This has been a 5-year nightmare with no end in sight. We contacted Aetna insurance, ask for a list of network providers, & then did LOTS OF RESEARCH. Reviews for North Star were outstanding. They seemed to have the perfect balance ratio for staff to dentist. Now to the review. I called staff explaining my situation. I needed a cavity fixed & 2 crowns replaced. They had a cancellation that day & ask would I like to come in. GREAT! Only hour till that appointment time, so I got ready quickly. Staff processed me in, I answered all the questions, insurance cards, paperwork, then seated to see doctor. Staff were very friendly & informative. Dentist came in reviewed my x-rays, confirmed the cavity & worn crowns. He was very professional in his evaluation. He explained the steps we needed to take, would work with insurance getting pre-approval same day, & have me scheduled at the earliest available appointment.
