I was diagnosed with Epilepsy seizures several years ago. After working with several doctors, I was lucky to be introduced to Dr. Sachdev. Dr Sachdev has been my doctor for over 24 years. He is very through in his diagnosis. He is very personable, communicates clearly the treatment strategy for the medical condition and pros and cons of medication choices. As a patient, what I like about him is that he is respectful and polite, but firm with me regarding being regular with my medication and lab tests. I typically get a lab test done before i meet with him. The data makes our conversations more useful. I'd say he is one of the best neurologists around. Thank you, Dr Sachdev. read more

Great doctor, the worst office staff I have ever worked with. Somewhere between every exam and the front office, prescriptions get lost and there is complete unresponsiveness to my calls and emails. I have been trying for (literally) years to get my prescription correct. Every refill is messed up. I continually have to call and call again the office to fix this. I've talked to the office manager, been assured things will get fixed. That specific prescription is fixed, but the next time around I am back in the circus. I hate to leave the doctor due to operational issues... but OMG!!! Again, good doctor, but miserable experience. You pick. read more

Dr Sachdev saved my life. I wasn't on a good path in life, drinking, drinking with prescriptions you shouldn't drink with, careless because "I could". July 24 2022, I had my first seizure ever. I was referred to him immediately and they made room for me to be seen due to the urgency of a recent event with no answers. When he diagnosed me with a seizure disorder, my world was flipped upside down. Still is to be honest.... But he scared me straight in the best and most direct way. He has worked closely on my case and stays in consistent communication. Outside of the normal things that come with scheduling with a doctor, they have always made time for me. I feel seen, heard, safe, and hopeful. I owe my life to Dr. S. I couldn't recommend a better neurologist. read more

I'm a lumpy, middle-aged boomer who needed some brain stuff attended to. Dr. Sachdev and his people are compassionate, kind, and very thorough. I'm fortunate in that my situation is MUCH better than a lot of folks, and for that I'm very lucky. Dr. Sachdev is the doctor I count on to keep the brain noodles well-oiled. read more

Dr Harmeet Sachdev is the best neurologist in the USA and probably the world! I have seen several Neurologists over my 55 years and Dr Sachdev is by far the most thorough, most educated and knowledgeable when it comes to the brain and neuro system. Dr Sachdev is the Dr you want when dealing with anything having to do with your brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and muscles. I am forever grateful to Dr Sachdev, his amazing wife and staff. read more

Dr Harmeet Sachdev has been my neurologist for years & consider him to be the best. He is knowledgeable & really cares about his patients. I kept him as my doctor even after my move to San Francisco in 2005 as I feel I'm in good hands. I didn't care I had a long drive & sometime would have to deal with traffic. Fortunately I moved back to San Jose in November 2017. I had a stroke on July 15th of this year & due to his expertise he knew that my heart caused the stroke before all tests were completed. I strongly urge if you are seeking a knowledgeable neurologist, call Dr Sachdev. I have faith in him as I know he sincerely cares about his patients. Plus he takes time with you & willing to answer all your questions. read more

I HAVE NEVER MET SUCH AN UNPROFESSIONAL DOCTOR!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! My physician referred me to a neurologist and somehow, this doctor was on top of the list. I spent a week (sic!) trying to get an appointment. No, it is not like "doctor is quite busy, we'll schedule you in a week". It is like: First, "okay, we need a referral from your physician". Okay, I drive to physician's office. Staff at physician's are very surprised, as I have PPO insurance and should be able to see specialists without a referral. They write a referral anyway and give it to me. Then, "okay, in addition to referral we need your complete medical records faxed to us". I drive to physicians office again and they make copies of all lab tests and scans that were made. Then, "okay, but you also need to give us your insurance information". How often are you asked for your insurance information before your visit? Then, "we also need visitation notes from your physician". And finally, "okay, we forgot to tell you - all of the above must be faxed directly from your physician's office. Then we can schedule your appointment at, let's see, end of January". Yes, that's two months from now. If you want to jump through hoops and hurdles just to get an appointment scheduled - that's your doctor. Otherwise, look further. [UPDATE] I have been contacted yesterday by another member of Dr. Sachdev's staff, who seemed to be more sane. She told me that ultimately, I need to take the above information to the appointment, but the doctor prefers to review it in advance. Yet, the appointment could only be scheduled for mid-February. I'll update this review if I don't find another one neurologist before then... [ANOTHER UPDATE] I have just been contacted by their office again: they canceled the mid-February appointment and offered another one at end of March. I just told to cancel the appointment altogether. read more

I love Dr. Harmeet. He has been my dr for around 8 years. He really helped me deal with my condition

I wish Yelp would have allowed me to give doctor H a whole lot more stars! I have been a patient of doctor H Sachdev since 3/2004! I was refereed to him by my optometrist after having an optic neuritis episode. Doctor H has a great sense of urgency, deeply cares about his patients and her overall health, and is very up to date with current meds and treatments. Once you are his patient you know you have an amazing doctor and a great team to help you navigate and work through whatever health issue has brought you to him. I also love working with Mara and Sarvjid. They are just amazing people and a great medical team to help care for your health. read more

He misdiagnosed me! I was in the hospital for a severe headache. Did a MRI. Said nothing was wrong. Showed same MRI to another doctor. Turns out I have a spinal fluid leak, aka my spine is leaking brain fluid! His bedside manner also sucks. He tried to give me 3 medications I am allergic to and laughed at me for refusing them. Horrible doctor! read more

Dr. Sachdev has been my neurologist for many years. He is highly-rated and explains everything to me completely and honestly. He is compassionate and caring. He is direct and easy to understand about explaining any issues I may have. He has an outstanding reputation with his colleagues. I find his medical staff very helpful and accommodating. They are very easy to work with. His Physician's Assistant, Mara, is excellent as well. I also see Dr. Tripta Sachdev in the same office. She is wonderful as well. I truly feel that my care is very important to all them. read more

Anybody can write anonymously on a review. In order to validate my story, I'll go a step further and say that if you message me, I am willing to talk to you directly and give a review. Our situation was similar to WC. If there is a higher power watching, then this doctor's day will come for the ~ 3 years of suffering he has put us through. read more

Unless your issue is that you have had a stroke, do not go to Dr. Sachdev. As a 39 year old otherwise healthy adult I started experiencing a problem staying upright and walking without veering to one side or the other. Since it was not due to a stroke they told me I was fine. FINE?! I couldn't even walk and started getting migraines. They failed to send the referrals they promised to send, are frequently out of the office. If you need someone to shrug their shoulders and say "You didn't have a stroke there is nothing wrong" then this is the place for you. read more

He seems to be running some kind of scam, miss diagnosing & unnecessarily prescribing medications for life. I hope his patients get a second opinion before they fall prey to his schemes. We had a very bad experience with him and his staff with one of our children. It was a nightmare for couple of months as life just came to a stop repeating multiple unneeded tests and as they insisted upon their treatment even though it didn't match the symptoms. We are glad we decided to do our own research and get a second opinion from a highly rated Neurologist before putting our child on a life time medication, which totally would have been a misdiagnosis. I wish I could give him zero stars. read more

Health Care is so important, so don't choose this doctor. He misdiagnosed my mother 10 years ago and now, just recently, did a number on my elderly father. My Dad had a tumor removed from his brain last week. The surgery went well and Dr. Sachdev was assigned to him by the surgeon. We were reluctant given our past, but really had no choice while in the hospital. Right before his release and he was doing fantastic at this point, he prescribed anti-seizure medication to my father that, in our opinion, almost killed him. When my mother tried to call his office for help, they told her to call her primary care physician or take him to the ER. No one ever called her back and she had to go back to the surgeon for help. He was moved to a different anti-seizure medication and now is doing great, but no thanks to this doctor and especially his incompetent and non caring office staff. read more

I would never seen anyone other than Dr. H Sachdev. He has been my neuro for almost 7 years now and I would never trust anyone the way that I trust him. I know that what he is telling me is the truth. He does not sugar coat things to make me feel better. In my eyes, he has not only saved my life but improved it. When I have an appointment I make a list of things that I want to discuss or new symptoms. We go over the list and also discuss anything else that needs to be discussed. Typically my appointment last about 30 minutes. Now and days that's a long appointment. Some people say that he does not have the best bed side manner. I would rather have a doctor tell it to me straight than give me false hope. He is not rude or harsh and not trying to make you feel bad. He is just being honest about what is going on. I think Dr. Harmeet Sachdev is the best there is! read more

I agree with Alexey, don't go to this office, unless you see Dr. Sachdev's son. Otherwise, ask for another referral! I was referred to Dr. Harmeet Sachdev by my oncologist. He said that Dr. Sachdev was one of the best in the area. I met with Dr. Sachdev a couple weeks later and everything went fine. At my last visit with my oncologist on 6/29/11, he asked me to call to call Dr. Sachdev and make an appt. to see if I can stop taking my anti-seizure meds. So, I called that same day (6/29/11) and I couldn't get an appt. till today, 10/6/11! Apparently, the doctor was going to be out of the country for a month! Couldn't I have seen his son, instead? (I understand he has a much better bedside manner than his father does.) I suppose the appt. today will be the last. That's fine with me! PS: Fortunately, I didn't have to go through the hassle of producing med. records, ins. info, and visitation notes, etc. like Alexey did. That why I gave him 2 stars, instead of 1. Also, a receptionist did call yesterday to confirm my appt. today. UPDATE: Since I hadn't seen Dr. Sachdev for over a year, I had forgotten how nice he is. Today's appointment was great! I'm doing a complete 180! Instead of 2 stars, I'm giving 4 stars! (My husband says 5 stars, but I don't think any doctor is perfect.) Unfortunately, I will be taking the anti-seizure meds for the rest of my life. It's all good though, I've taking them for 20 months now, and the prescription co-pay is very low. The bottom line is completely contrary to my first review! If you want to get a good neurologist, call Dr. Sachdev's office. He's not only good, he's great! read more

Dr Sachdev and Dr Malek potentially saved my husbands life (or at least prevented him from being permanently disabled). If it wasn't for his quick thinking and confidence my husband would have been sitting in the ER at Good Samaritan hospital with a clot in his brain while the doctors and nurses consulted with each other. He acted quickly and got the best team he knew together. My husband and I are very grateful we crossed paths with him in that urgent situation and not another doctor. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My mother was referred to Dr. Harmeet by her primary care physician. It took several months for her to get an appointment with him to review EEG test results after she had a mild stroke. When she finally had her scheduled appt with him, he was incredibly rude and disrespectful to her. She asked him to explain the numbers on her test results, and he told her that he was too busy and that she should go to school if she wanted to be able to understand the results. He still did not explain the results to her, nor did he address her risk of future stroke (which she separately asked him about), and told her to come back and see him in 4-5 months. I assure you that she will absolutely not be returning to Dr. Harmeet. A physician's primary responsibility should be to his/her patients. That includes providing quality care as well as communicating with the patients to ensure that they have a complete understanding of their medical/health situation. Dr. Harmeet is not fulfilling this responsibility. This is completely unacceptable behavior from a practicing physician. read more

I met Dr Harmeet Sachdev and his father, also a neurologist, when I was working at Good Samaritan Hospital in 2007. As a critical care nurse, I appreciated his straight forward manner and extensive knowledge. As a patient, he has answered my questions, offered advice, and gave me options for treating my migraines. I have been troubled with migraines for almost 15 years. Thanks to Dr Harmeet Sachdev and Botox, my migraines are minimal now. I am off daily preventative medication for the first time in 8 years. I just completed my second round of injections and am doing great. My only regret is that I didn't meet him sooner as a patient -- I could have had relief years ago. read more

I was referred to Dr. Sachdev by my primary doctor for possible memory issues. Dr. Sachdev was very very thorough in his examination and scheduling tests to determine exactly what if any the problem(s) were. I was very impressed with how many tests he ran and his follow-up with me. I would definitely recommend him to family/friends. read more

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Harmeet Sachdev for several years. In 2015 he suffered an episode that looked much like a stroke, After being taken to a smaller hospital, evaluated by multiple doctors and specialists, including the head neurologist, no one was entirely sure what had happened or why? Keep in mind, there were multiple conversations and hours of retelling the events leading up to and through the stroke episode. A few days after being released from the hospital, we were able to get in and see Dr. Sachdev. After providing the same background information we had provided to dozens of other medical professionals, along with the recent scan information, Dr. Sachdev diagnosed exactly what happened and how/why it happened. He immediately implemented changes, including adjustments in medication to prevent further incidences. For the first time, it all made sense and we had both answers and practical steps to take. We had previously spent hours communicating with numerous other medical professionals, and in less than 10 minutes, Harmeet Sachdev identified the source of the problem and began a protocol to protect my husband. Brilliant. This was followed by a precarious round of procedures and treatment in the hospital. Dr. Sachdev monitored everything. He was tenaciously diligent and unquestionably caring. His knowledge and expertise is remarkable. His standard of care is what every patient hopes for. His compassion and humanity... well that merits yet another story. Recently my husband had bypass surgery. During the recovery he experienced A-fib, followed the next day, by multiple mini-strokes. When we arrived in Sachdev's office a couple weeks later, my husband had many questions, all of which Sachdev answered with great clarity. But the worst thing hanging over my husband was this oppressive sense of vulnerability and the uncertainty of what the future held. (This is so not like my husband.) At the end of the exam, when he asked one final question, revealing his heavy load of uncertainty, Sachdev immediately caught on. He pulled up his chair directly in front of both of us, took our hands and with magnificent wisdom and compassion, put forth the perfect words to dispel and lift the unsustainable weight of dread off my husband. What a gift! It is true, you may have to wait to see Dr. Harmeet Sachdev. It is also true, that the best is worth the wait. read more

I worked for doctors in Good Sam area over 30 years and Dr. Harmeet Sachdev saved my life. He was head of the stroke department at Good Samaritan Hospital in 2008 when he treated me. Never met a better, smarter or more caring doc in my life. He works with Dr. Malek, who is brilliant also, in my opinion. Dr. Sachdev travels in order to attend seminars on the very latest medical research in his field and also to teach other doctors. His staff was very kind and courteous to me. I am retired and no longer in the area or I would still be seeing him. I miss his A + team!!!!! Wish them all well! Bonnie S. read more

Dr. Sachdev is probably one of the best neurologist in the san jose area but like others he isn't good enough to be treated no better than a sheep out to pasture. I assume this is his desire that he wants to feel so important that people are willing to wait but six months because he decided to take a vacation day and than the next opening was 3 months later. I respect my cat and her needs more than that. Therefore all I can think is that he is an arrogant.. However given that he did notice that my disc was so narrow that if I fell I might have become paralyzed. Thank you for that Dr. Sachdev but when your an epileptic you just can't wait until your hospitalized to see you. read more

Dr. Harmeet Sachdev has been my neurologist for 21 years and he gave me my diagnosis of MS 21 years ago. I love Harmeet Sachdev. He is short on small talk, and long on knowledge and an expert in the MS community. He comes across as all business and does not waste time with small talk. However, he has ALWAYS been there for me when I needed help. Because he is such in demand, you may have to wait over a month to schedule an appointment if it is not an emergency. The insurance system is not the best and YES they do need a referral from most companies. Dont blame the doctor for the red tape. Of course you always give your insurance info prior to meeting a doctor and of course ALL information must come from your doctors office and not hand carried in. If you want the BEST doctor, you must be patient, smart and follow the rules. I have had many years with Harmeet Sachdev and he is the BEST in his field. Beware of making wrong judgements over ridiculous criteria. read more

Dr. Harmeet Sachdev heads my neurology team. He treated me for a stroke two months ago, and thoroughly and directly explains what is happening. He doesn't waste any time, but if you have a long list of questions, he answers all of them. My case was challenging and rare, and he was diligently committed to getting the best minds in the U.S. Including Mayo Clinic to share ideas about what to do. The hospital staff shared unsolicited feedback with me about how highly he is respected for his knowledge and experience; he is the Director of the Stroke Center at Good Samaritan. I often observed him collaborating with his colleagues to get the best answers. I need a Dr. I can trust. His office staff has also been responsive. Understand though that Dr. Sachdev is very busy. Now there are patients that need him more than I do (I am progressing well), so being aware of what you Need is important. I experienced the medical staff committed to my progress. But insurance companies and the compliance/regulations are out of control and do everything in their power to obstruct the healing of patients. No wonder they drive healthcare costs so high! I won't say more about that, or my blood pressure would go up! read more
