I hate to write a negative review because Dr Khalili is amazing and could not recommend any other…read moreneurology doctor. Unfortunately, his front desk staff have led me to write this review. The office staff are very rude, don't answer phones often and never return voicemails. I am on a few medications that require prior authorization every couple of months; however, I've gone weeks at a time without being medicated because they won't answer the phone or answer my voicemail or the pharmacist's request for a pre authorization for my refills. I've gone in person to make my requests and they assure me they'll do it but a week later when I follow up, I call my insurance and they say they haven't received anything. I call the office back and on a rare occasion, someone answered and she laughed and said, "I don't know what to tell you", we did what you asked. I then tell them I've already communicated with my insurance and have confirmed they didn't and then they tell me they'll do it "right now". Well here I am, third week unmedicated AGAIN because of them. I'd pay out of pocket if I could but my medication is thousands of dollars. It is because of this office staff, I have started the process in finding a new neurologist. I told myself Dr Khalili was worth putting up with the office staff but at this point, I can't keep putting my health at risk by continuing to be a victim of their neglect.

I live in El Dorado Hills so it was very convenient to go see him at his Folsom office. After my PCP sent the referral, I was called by Dr. Robbins office staff to schedule the appointment. The Girl I spoke to was very pleasant and informative. The scheduling process only took about 2 minutes. I was please to know I didn't have to drive all over town to get my films. They took care of that for me. I was scheduled within 1 week. Other offices I called were scheduling 2 months out. When I arrived for my appointment, The receptionist was very attentive and kind. I did not have to wait more the 10mins to be seen. When I was called back I went straight to the Dr.s Office, not shoved in an exam room to wait for an hour. The Dr. Was very patient when asking me about my history. He showed me my films and went over them with me. He explained everything to me very clearly so I could understand what I was looking at. After he examined me, he went over all my question and explained in great detail what my options were. At the end of my appointment I was directed out to his patient care coordinator. She provided my with lots of literature and was very kind. My overall experience with this office was top notch. I was very happy and will recommend all my family and friends who are need of a neurosurgeon to Dr. Robbins. After my appointment I was able to go to their website and see the procedure that I was going to have in a video pod cast. This was very comforting and was exactly what the Dr. had told me!

When I walked into the office, I was greeted by his wife. She was very pleasant and friendly as she welcomed me into the office. Dr Pirsaheli escorted me to his office, and I immediately felt like I was in great hands. He was very friendly, professional, compassionate and caring. I never felt rushed; he listened well, and he was very thorough reviewing my medical history and discussing my continued care I feel so blessed and relieved to have Dr Pirsaheli as part of my health care team as I continue with my health care journey.

The veneer of refinement quickly fell away the moment I entered the exam room, where I was met with a brusque, dismissive demeanor wholly unbecoming of a physician entrusted with patient care. Dr. Pirsaheli seemed incapable of navigating basic medical record access, expressing visible frustration at his inability to retrieve documents from UC Davis Medical Center and my primary care provider. Instead of exercising patience or professionalism, he summoned his receptionist and proceeded to berate her in my presence. When she resolved the technical issue, he declared that the information was still insufficient, directing me--without prior instruction or notice--to return home, scan my ICU discharge records from UC Davis, and email them to him. To expect a patient, who has been suffering from dizziness and migraines for months, to manage clerical duties on his behalf is absurd and insulting. When I suggested logging into my UC Davis Health mobile app to provide the information immediately, he refused outright, insisting that I "go home and take my time." This cavalier dismissal of my urgent condition was not only unhelpful, it was demeaning. When I pressed the matter, eager for relief, he handed me his business card, pointed toward the door, and effectively dismissed me from his care. What followed descended into farce. After sitting in my car for a while , I returned to the office--having managed to reset my password and access the records --the receptionist scolded me for not simply emailing the files. When I explained that the app only allowed printing, not emailing, Dr. Pirsaheli emerged and began shouting accusations: that I had arrived late, and--absurdly--that I had "punched" his hand when he offered his business card. His tone was hostile, his claims demonstrably false, and his behavior erratic. Feeling attacked, I began recording the exchange for my own protection. Only then did both he and his receptionist abruptly moderate their tone, revealing how performative their aggression had been. The most egregious moment came when Dr. Pirsaheli escalated the situation by calling the police. On the phone, he described me as a "violent African-American with blonde hair"--a statement not only factually incorrect, but deeply revealing of the bias that may have colored his treatment of me from the start. The racialized framing of his false accusation was as offensive as it was reckless. The police arrived promptly, conducted themselves professionally, and confirmed that Dr. Pirsaheli wished to issue me a no-trespass notice. For the record, I had no desire to return. I left his office in tears, disheartened that months of waiting for specialist care had culminated in humiliation and abuse rather than medical help. Dr. Pirsaheli's conduct was not merely unprofessional--it was profoundly unethical. He abdicated his duty of care, substituted hostility for compassion, and weaponized false accusations when confronted with his own inadequacy. Patients deserve better than to be treated as inconveniences or adversaries. If you are seeking genuine medical expertise and humane treatment, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere.

My first PT visit was fine... light pressure and stretching, no real improvement but no worsening either. At my second visit, the office was not open at my scheduled appointment time. There was no check-in process or intake paperwork, and another patient was turned away due to scheduling conflicts. This session was much more intense than the first, and I left feeling sore. Over the following days, that soreness turned into acute pain that I had not experienced since before treatment. When I contacted the office for guidance, I was told to schedule a follow-up with my doctor. At that visit, I requested copies of my PT treatment notes. Initially, I was told they could only be released to my attorney. Then I was told the PT was affiliated with another office and that I'd need to contact them -- but that office had no record of me since I'd never been seen there. A front desk staff member was dismissive and unprofessional during this process, even discussing my request with others in a way that I could overhear. After multiple attempts and delays, I finally received my records, but the process was unnecessarily difficult and raised concerns about accuracy of said records. Based on my experience with both the therapy and the administrative handling of my case, I will be seeking care elsewhere.

Dr. Khan was very welcoming and spoke directly to Bree (14) to find out from her exactly what was going on. He requested that I have a list of tests run: Sleep study, MRI, spinal tap and eye exam to test pressure and/or any changes since last exam a year before. I had everything done in three weeks for our next appointment. He went over tests results with us, explaining only two tests came up with anything and then explained what they meant. Bree's spinal pressure was double normal and she had a condition that 8 out of 100 babies are born with, but doesn't show itself until puberty. Chiari Malformation. This is a condition where the brain sack does not grow to full size so it can't fill the skull like it should. Also, she had another part of this condition when the toncilles of the brain hang down instead of laying underneath the bottom portion of the brain. Bree's toncilles were not only hanging down, they were going down her spine. We were referred to a world renounced neurosurgeon, Dr. Samuel Chicirillo in Sacramento. Now that surgeries have been completed, Dr. Khan has asked her eyes be rechecked to make sure no permanent damage has been done by the seriously high spinal pressure; none found, and we await the post-op MRI in November before deciding if she needs another spinal tap to check her pressure. Bree finds him to be very nice, through and makes her feel confident being in his care. I would refer Dr. Khan to anyone that finds themselves in need of an excellent Pediatric Neurologist. It's a scary thing to go through so a great and caring doctor is a must!
