I hate to write a negative review because Dr Khalili is amazing and could not recommend any other neurology doctor. Unfortunately, his front desk staff have led me to write this review. The office staff are very rude, don't answer phones often and never return voicemails. I am on a few medications that require prior authorization every couple of months; however, I've gone weeks at a time without being medicated because they won't answer the phone or answer my voicemail or the pharmacist's request for a pre authorization for my refills. I've gone in person to make my requests and they assure me they'll do it but a week later when I follow up, I call my insurance and they say they haven't received anything. I call the office back and on a rare occasion, someone answered and she laughed and said, "I don't know what to tell you", we did what you asked. I then tell them I've already communicated with my insurance and have confirmed they didn't and then they tell me they'll do it "right now". Well here I am, third week unmedicated AGAIN because of them. I'd pay out of pocket if I could but my medication is thousands of dollars. It is because of this office staff, I have started the process in finding a new neurologist. I told myself Dr Khalili was worth putting up with the office staff but at this point, I can't keep putting my health at risk by continuing to be a victim of their neglect. read more

Office staff is the worst. I've been waiting for my appointment for months. They never sent me a confirmation text with the time and address of my appointment. Never picked up my calls and when they finally called me back (an hour before my appointment) they refused to give me the address they actually hung up on me. Dr. Khalili has been descent. The staff are nice in person but they do not pick up the phpne or return messages with the exception of one lady in the Sacramento office. They're only open two days per week. Tuesday in Folsom and Thursday in Sacramento. I've given up calling and go to Folsom or Sacramento directly when needed. This place is TERRRRRIBLE. The front desk staff is by far the rudest I've ever seen and this person should be fired immediately. My mother is having severe issues and this place made us wait 4 months with more than 2 urgent referrals. My mother confirmed the appointment through the website sent in a text message to confirm, then when we arrive, the nasty person at the front desk with massive attitude says "she didn't confirm the appointment so we canceled it". When we said she did confirm it she responds saying she needs to answer her phone to confirm. We then were so upset because my mother needed this appointment and she says you need to leave. I then ask to speak with her manager and she says "I don't have one". I have never in my life dealt with someone so nasty and rude. I contacted my mother's primary care office to inform all physicians there to not refer people here. Disgusting and unbelievable. read more

Doctor is great and wonderful, but his staff is another story. They answer the phone by putting the caller directly on hold, without listening to the caller's reason for calling....so disrespectful! They say they won't return patient calls until after 48 hours, UNACCEPTABLE. There is no other way to reach the doctor even to reshedule or cancel an appointment. Finally, doctor needs to sign up with an email system like MyChart or My Health Online, two of the easiest ways to communicate with back and forth without expecting doctor to return calls by phone. After contacting this office and being told that I can not call until the referral coordinator calls me for an appointment I sat patiently waiting. After the holidays I gave them a bit to get back to the office and get settled, I understand it's the busy time of year, I called every day for over a week trying every extension and each voicemail box was full not allowing you to leave a message. I tried calling at all different times of the day and no luck. I have been waiting too hear back since December 4th, it is now January 23rd and I am washing my hands of this doctor and moving on. read more

Didn't have a problem with the staff. This dr does not talk to other drs. He prescribed a medication for me. I asked him if it was a blood thinner and he said no, the pharmacist told me it was, I don't stay with drs that lie to me. read more

I have suffered with debilitating migraines most of my life and no one has done more to help me find a solution than Dr. Khalili. He is one of the most compassionate and caring physicians I have ever met. We met in the ER, after a migraine left the left side of my face numb and double vision in my left eye. Once they determined it was not a stroke, Dr. Khalili focused immediately on finding relief for me. He is amazing. He and his team provide drop-in injections when you need to combat a bad migraine. He also consulted with a friend of mine who is battling Parkinson's and Dr. Khalili's input resulted in my friend's doctor providing treatment that was previously not offered to him. Dr. Khalili has a very busy office in Elk Grove and Folsom. His team is hard working and very caring. Be kind and polite and they will do all they can to help you. read more

I never give 1 star. I always give the benefit of doubt. BUT after 4 days of leaving messages on 916-984-9982, Folsom office and at 916-681-9401, I have had ZERO response. Maybe he has too many patients and does not need anymore. I hear he is fantastic which is why I was hoping to make an appointment. I use the Hills Physicians group. I am going to let them know, how can I use an in network physician if he or his staff do not respond to messages. He may be a fine neurologist. And from what I was told, he is understanding, listens, and very empathetic, but how am I to experience that if they will not return calls. It is VERY frustrating. This review is solely based on my experience. I read several poor reviews about his front office and scheduling issues. This is my short medical history: I am a 5 time cancer survior and after my brain cancer surgery in 2004, I took 1 gram of levetiracetam ( Keppra) for 10 years. However, over the last 5 years or so I had a few seizure episodes and my former neurologist kept on upping the does without thorough investigation. I was taking close to 5 grams/ day plus Lacosamide (Vimpat) 200 mg/day. I realized that based on my research and my GP's advice that my Keppra dosage is toxic. I asked my GP to send a referral to Dr. K. She sent one in February/2018 and did not hear from them. Based on the reviews I lost hope. I wanted to try once before giving up. I called them in September/18 and to my surprise, it was answered at the first ring. I scheduled an appointment in November in Folsom. I was very happy to see him and felt confident that he could take care of me. He was very pleasant and was willing to listen to me. He recommended that I get an EEG in his Sacramento office. I had my EEG on December 13th and went back to see him on Jan 10th in Folsom. He was careful in his assessment and wanted to reduce the dosage gradually. As a first step, he told me to take 3.75 grams instead of 5. I feel much better now and happy that I found him. The next test was to get refills for my Vimpat though Express Scripts. I called the Folsom office last week and they were delivered yesterday. It is possible that I got lucky but as I said it was based on my experience. Apparently, he works 6 days/week. Tuesday and Thursday in Folsom and the rest in Sacramento (Timber lake way). If you have trouble finding his office in Folsom, it's in the building where dr. Cecille Taylor, Opthomologist practices. You can't miss her office because it has a huge sign with her name on it. Hope this review helps people like me. read more

I would leave 0 stars if I could. Beware!! This doctor charges a $250 missed appointment fee!! I'm recovering from major shoulder surgery and couldn't get ready in time to make my appointment. I apologized on 3 separate calls (which went to voicemail) before I heard back from front office. Even said it was all my fault and would pay a missed appointment fee. But $250!! Especially in this time of COVID-19 when so many people are pinching pennies (yet his office stated he was thriving!!). That's highly unethical! read more

Dr and staff are VERY friendly. Had some issues previously due to rude office staff (one girl) but hung in there because I really trust and like Dr Kahlili. Don't worry she's gone and the girls here are AMAZING!! I love coming here because I know I'm going to leave feeling taken care of. I have horrible migraines and this is the only office I have ever been to where I can just walk in and be seen and treated that same day. I've struggled for a long time!!! When the doctor referred my husband to Dr. Khalili, I was very skeptical after reading the poor reviews. However, I received a timely response from his office scheduling an appointment for my husband in his Folsom office. We found his office staff to be very helpful. Doctor Khalili was very kind and caring and thorough. He took the time to carefully show us my husband's MRI and explain the details and what kind of further testing was required. I have known Dr. Khalili for many years as he was my Father's Neurologist for Parkinsons and when I began having some scary symptoms, I too began seeing Dr. Khalili. I have complete faith in this physician, he will take the time to explain anything that comes along to make sure you understand your symptoms and what it may mean in a diagnosis. I never got to see the doctor so this is about his staff. They called and asked me to come in at 10:00 on Saturday, April 21st. I had a 45-minute drive and got there at 9:30, all the doors to the building on Timberlake were locked. I called the office number as well as the number on my phone from the man who called me late Friday to set the appointment. I kept trying to get in and finally saw a nurse from another building. She was very kind and made several phone calls trying to locate the Doctor or his service. Finally, I left about 10:10 thinking the man had made a mistake and actually wanted me to come in at 10:00 Monday. I drove home and returned at 9:30 Monday. The staff said I missed my appointment on Saturday. They said they couldn't understand why the doors were locked and did not apologize for my inconvenience. They made another appointment for me again on a Saturday. With a staff as careless and uncaring as they are, I don't believe I am interested in meeting Dr Khalili. read more

I've been seeing Dr. K for over a decade. I absolutely recommend him to anyone. However, his office staff has a lot to be desired. Trying to get through on the phone can be maddening most the time. Trying to deal with Rx renewals is nightmarish at best. Not to mention I've had one pretty ugly verbal skirmish with one of his staff trying to get them to get a preauth to my Ins, and then sent to my pharmacy was like pulling hen's teeth. Extremely rude. It must be nice to sit in her office all comfortable while a client struggles to get their meds due to negligence on their inept policies. This is a med I've been using for 2 years with only an annual preauth needed. Ins say's the dr. office needs to XY and Z. I wondering if they know that much of the alphabet. Ladies, get your poop in a group or your boss will lose patients, ie, your paycheck. 4 Stars for the dr. 1 for the staff. Very happy this doctor was recommended to me. He has given me hope about being told I need back surgery for my problem. He did tests that the orthopedic didn't even suggest. And the outcome contradicted what the orthopedic told me. I had no problem gettin in to see him with a first time appointment last May. They answered the phones, very polite and considerate. Each time I go there is hardly any wait and the doctor spends plenty of time with me. He is open minded when I suggest the use of natural ways for my comfort and he validates that use and feels my other doctors need to know that I'm getting a good response with the natural way instead of just pharmaceuticals. I have been treating with Dr. Khalili for at least 4 years and he is the best neurologist provided by my insurance. However, his medical staff are the most unprofessional, lazy, and uncaring staff. I suffer facial spasms, got authorization for botox injection on Feb. 19 and have yet to get a response from their staff to schedule the appointment. I have called twice to leave a message...no response. Today I called the Folsom office to find out what's the delay and spoke to the rudest staff person passing me on to the Sacto office because she doesn't make appointments for "these types of things". One of the worst offices I've ever dealt with. I had one appointment a year ago which was fully paid for by my insurance. I did not return to this doctor, and I received a bill in the mail from over a year ago. Not only were they incorrect, I had to waste an hour of my day to dispute this with the manager who NEVER calls anyone back, and put me on hold for over twenty minutes because of her mistake. I have been a patient of Dr. Khalili's for approximately 4 years and I am completely satisfied with his treatments and his willingness to explain the reasons for my visits in ways that are easy for me to understand. His staff has always been polite and willing to help in any way possible. My only complaint is with his phone service as it is difficult sometimes to get through to his Folsom office or to leave a message as the voicemail is full. I have never had a phone conversation with a medical office so rude in my life!!!!!!!!!! In fact I have never yelped before, but I was so upset after dealing with this office I created an account just for this situation! As a business owner as well as a manager at a well known surgery center I found it very important to share my experiences as I would care to know if my money and name was at stake or in anyway frowned upon! Dr. Khalili came highly recommended to me by my PCP and I was looking forward to meeting with him and hopefully getting my issues resolved. I had made a call to his office about a week after my referral was sent as advised my my primary. At that time I was told my referral was not even in the stack yet to be processed. Okay, I get it! I run a surgery center that is for a group of specialists, completely understand specialist take awhile to get in and see. Phone call left off with their staff member saying they will call next week, great! Four weeks pass, no call. I call them talk with the receptionist very scattered similar to the first phone conversation. Finally am told they have a cancellation they can get me in that Friday. Two days out! K great, I ask for the address, am told the Sacramento address I write it down with my day and time. Two days later come that Friday. Take off work early, beyond excited to get in and hopefully get some answers. Get to the location where my navigation takes me , I drive all around, walk all around, k great can't find the office. Decide to call the office. I state that I can't find the building I have an appointment is about fifteen min. Receptionist says oh you must be so and so, fully states a patients first and last names and says I must be this patient. Violation to HIPAA. I said no and state my name. The lady then says I don't have an appointment for you, your appointment is Tuesday in Folsom. Okay, why do I have this day, this time, this Sacramento address?! She says "I guess we will put you in" I state again I can't find the building and my current location and the buildings around me. She says to me "there is a big parking lot", okay great. Every building around me has a parking lot. I ask if she could tell me where they are located from the big Dignity Hospital on their same street. She says "it's 7551" with complete attitude for no reason. I then say I have the address. She says "google it" lol. You don't think I have already done that, I'm 29 I do everything on my cell phone completely understand the concept of navigation. I would never tell a patient at my office to google it! I would bring up Google on my computer, talk them though directions till they found us, I have even walk out and waved them to our parking lot from the street. If our practice physicians even caught wind that a patient was told to "goggle it", they would be fired! That's not okay! After I get "Google it", she hangs up. I was completely sweet to her, I'm not stupid as she made me out to feel. She was so rude, so put out, sighed with ever other word, annoyed she had to do her job, not at all helpful or understanding for a second!!!! At that point even if I found the bulging I did not want that practice to be in charge of my health!!!!! At that point I'm not going to lie, I had it! I called said I will not be at my appointment I need to speak with management. Well that didn't do anything. The manager was just about as great as the staff, terrible!!!! The manager said she didn't think because navigation had brought me to the wrong destination that it was their offices responsibility to navigate me to their practice, is what she told me. You know what, no it's not, but it sure is helpful and brings patients to the practice when extra caring steps are taken for patients and they can actually find the building. I'm sure the doctor would love to know why he sat around for an open hour with a no show. I hope he reads this and sees that it was his extremely rude staff and horrible manager that caused the situation and this review. It's sad because the doctor is probably a great physician, but a doctor is only as great as his staff. The staff is the first call, face, everything to an office and a doctor. Dr. Khalili you need new staff!!! You have lost my business, and I have nothing good to say about your staff from my experience and I would never send a good referral out word of mouth. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. This primarily about his office staff, which is the most incompetent bunch I have ever dealt with. First i called to make a follow up appointment since he would not refill one of my prescription medications without an office visit. I am an existing patient. I have been seen by Dr. Khalili at least four other times. However, in making my appointment, the office staff said I was a "new" patient because I hadn't been seen in over a year. Strange since I have been seen by numerous specialists and have never been reclassified as a new patient every year. Booking an appointment took 25+ minutes with the back and forth - new patient or not etc. Then a week later they call me to confirm the appointment --for the wrong date and time! I had two appointments booked within 2 days of each other. Then it gets worse. I get a phone call on the day of the appointment and the doctor's staff starts asking me about insurance information over the phone, says they don't take my provider, and wants information about my primary care physician because they don't see my referral in their system. Hello! I am a current patient, referred by my doctor over 2 years ago...I cancelled my appointment and will not be coming back. The doctor himself is ok, but nothing exceptional to put up with such disorganized, unprofessional and incompetent staff. Certainly who he hires reflects on his judgment. read more
