Betta Butties Ltd has recently been sold to a current employee who has continued with the good work. There is usually a hot roast, bacon, sausages, eggs, chips, cold meats and cheeses and salads. You can also have a salad made up for you. In addition you can get hot or cold drinks and snacks and sweets. My Husbands favourite is the famous 'Belly Buster' which as you can imagine is a very large roll, which you can have filled with either a hot or cold filling.

The relatively new Alpine Zone introduces loads of species to the visitor and they also have an Education Centre where you can find out about a wealth of plant related topics. The building, an old gentleman's club (not of the lap dancing variety...) is steeped in history and still has pretty much all of the original features to it. A major talking point is the men's toilets believe it or not, which even still has all of the old block wooden toilet seats & a shoe polishing point in the corner. By all standards I think the cost for hiring a part of the club for a function is pretty reasonable, and they can also cater for your event based on your budget but don't expect a lot of food for the money here. The prices on the bar itself are actually (surprisingly) on the cheap side - all the times I've been in they've had a couple of drinks offers available so I only ended up paying around £2.50 a pint! They do some of their own individual events here so I would definitely suggest checking it out sometime. You won't be disappointed with the venue space.

Booking a table for 6pm they were very accommodating of our 2 year daughter and my dads dog (happy to sit under the table) - our table really was a fully random bunch but worked for us :-) First off it's right on the canal which is great to sit out and there's room to sit out front and back for at least 50 people. Inside there's a large bar and a dining room for around another 50 I reckon. The drinks selection was ok and fairly standard but there were some great local beers on - my dad and myself especially enjoyed the 'Maid Marian' hoppy beer! The food on offer was typically pub (basically crossing every type of food across the world and back again...) but the fish and chips were great, salmon looked tasty and my dads linguine hit the spot. Most mains were under a tenner. Overall a great place to visit and I'd happily go back again tomorrow!
