I have a different rating tolerance outside of London, mostly because everything outside of London (apart from trees, sea, fresh air etc.) isn't as good. Therefore this might get a 3 star 'in the zone' but that's not going to happen as this is located in Blean (where I went to primary school), Canterbury - not London.
I had a good Sunday lunch here, around £12 for two courses: oven baked avocado with crab followed by roast beef. I was a little nervous when they didn't ask how I wanted the beef done but I guess they cooked a big hunk of it and then just slice it up. The meat (despite being overcooked), potatoes and Yorkshire pudding were tasty/good, the vegetables a little mushy and disappointing.
The cappuccino to finish (Illy coffee) was fantastic, I rarely get a better one in our fair capital!!!! That put a smile on my face :-)
I'd recommend for a not too expensive pub Sunday lunch and a nice pint of ale. read more
