It was pouring rain all day on Saturday and the whole BMI team made our day so special. We decided early on to have our ceremony in the beautiful barn on site and it was literally the most beautiful set up I've ever seen at a wedding. We couldn't get over how beautiful everything looked. It is such an intimate and beautiful memory that is burned in our brains for life. Our wedding was for about 160ish people so we rented a tent to do our reception outside - this couldn't have been an easier process and the tent looked like a fairy tale out on the yard. When I tell you think is the most incredible wedding venue on the face of the Earth we so mean it. Every single moment our wedding was so perfect and it was really was made possible by the team at the Bear Mountain Inn. Nick, Jessica and Cassie + team we LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH and legit cannot wait to come back in the winter to hang out and party with you guys. We drove by beautiful waterways - not sure if they were ponds or lakes, but they were beautiful and snow capped mountains in the distance - simply breathtaking as you drive further away from civilization. The location is easy to find, it's private enough for your events as well - far away from heavily traffic roads. There was plenty of parking for our group of 38 people (some of us did car pool). The grounds were so well kept - clean and neat and multiple outdoor fire pits to sit around, each with comfy chairs. The views of the water from the Inn grounds were so peaceful. You can also hike away from the water as well. So much nature to just take in, very calming for frayed nerves. The buildings are updated, but remain with a rustic style. Seems like pages right of a catalog. Gorgeous. The owners were so warm and welcoming to our group and very respectful of the privacy of the retreat. They took the time to welcome each of us and get to know us as people. Very much felt like we were guests in their home. It was fantastic. We hope to be able to visit again next year. Beautiful venue for retreats, weddings and gatherings. I highly recommend based on my days worth of experience.

The only reason I'm giving the location 1 star is because of all the help provided by the housekeeping manager in regards to helping find someplace to stay BECAUSE MY PREPAID ROOM WAS SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE although I talked to someone from the hotel earlier in the day to confirm my booking prior to my 3.5 hour drive. My room was in the main inn, there are 5 rooms and parking for only 3 cars unfortunately with the motorhome that took up the majority of the small parking lot. In the days of covid this bed and breakfast has no breakfast. Additionally there is no staff and self check in consists of the room door being left open with the room key in the room (allegedly, unfortunately I was not able to experience this). Upon arrival I walked my things up to the third floor which is where my room was, tried the door and it's locked. Knocked on the door and there was no answer. Called the phone number that I had for the hotel and it went to voice mail. No room, nobody to ask about it. A couple happened to be heading out for dinner so I asked them if there was any phone numbers in their room or similar in the event that anything happened and they needed to contact management. Thank goodness there was a number to call. I was able to get in touch with the head of housekeeping. She was super nice and came to the inn to see what was going on. This is when I learned that that there was someone already in my room. This inn was full so out of luck there. They have a second property, The Will's Inn about 4 miles down the road where they were able to put me. I'll review that place separately. It was shared with me that I would receive a full refund for my room, as well as a gift certificate to be used at a later time. Neither of these things happened. Stay away from this place.

For the price we could have easily booked a beautiful updated hotel mountainside with amenities but felt the private pool would be worth it and we like to be able to put our young kids to sleep and hang out together playing games. Honestly the pool isn't great. Even keeping covered all day it was pretty cold to be in it. Basically only the kids swam because the adults were shivering. It's also carpeted with leaves a lingering musty smell throughout the house. The kitchen is small, the bathrooms are outdated and In general it wasn't amazing. Maybe if it was affordable it would have been worth it but at the rate of over $6000 for 4 nights it wasn't up to the standards you would expect. You need to provide everything yourself. Sheets, pillows, towels, toilet paper we forgot hand towels and had to go buy them it's just obnoxious. Again just normal hotel amenities but when paying so much you would expect to have things provided. We rent Airbnb's and vacation homes a lot, to be more comfortable than a hotel and this was significantly less comfortable. The owners are so stringent we were scared to even ask for the pool temperature to be warmer or the slippery ice conditions out front to be addressed after they treated us so aggressively over the phone before checking in. You'll pay a hefty cleaning fee but also be told to basically scrub and clean everything yourself or they will charge your security deposit. I think we paid $550 for them to vacuum? Besides just sub par updates it is frustrating to be spoken down to so rudely and assumed to be some kind of bachelor party when you're just 3 families with kids. If you set your hopes very low and pay half the price maybe then it would have been a worthwhile place to go. Otherwise the pool at cranmore mountain looked great.

We stayed at the 1785 Inn in North Conway NH in August of 2025. We booked the entire inn for our family reunion. The Inn is quite large and had enough bedrooms for even our large group, which is hard to find. Many but not all of the rooms had private bathrooms. The listing claimed that all the bedrooms on the top floor (rooms 11, 12, 13, 14) had queen beds or a combination of queen and twin beds. The four rooms on that floor all had double sized beds only. We had serious issues with the plumbing. The water in many of the showers would not stay an even temperature, and would go between ice cold and scalding hot regardless of the temperature adjustment on the faucets. This was especially the case in room 11 on the top floor and rooms 9 and 10 on the second floor. More concerning was water dripping from the kitchen ceiling. The ceiling had obviously sustained previous water damage, but when we reported it to the owner we were told that they had no knowledge of previous issues and suggested that it was because people were not putting the shower curtains inside the tubs. We checked all bathrooms and none had water on the floor. The leak continued to worsen over the course of the week, eventually dripping through the light fixture in the ceiling. We asked the owner to come inspect it and a plumber was dispatched. He did not fix it while we were there and also suggested it was due to misuse of shower curtains. We were left to simply turn the light fixture off and keep pots on the floor to collect the dripping water. These (concerning) issues aside, the Inn's gathering spaces inside and out are lovely. The view is amazing, and it sits right next to a scenic view pull off area. The pool had a few cracks in the steps and an unsteady railing but was enjoyable in the August heat. The hot tub worked early in the week but by the end was stuck in sleep mode. There was a great fire pit with plenty of seating. Inside, a beautiful sunroom and dining area lined with tables made large dinner gatherings easy. The pub area was also a hit with our group, and had coolers for beer and wine and a full set of glasses and bar tools behind the bar. The kitchen was set up like a restaurant kitchen, and there were enough dishes/utensils for our very large group. Please note that there is only one dishwasher, and it is actually a restaurant style sanitizer, so we had to hand wash a lot of dishes or do a lot of sanitizing loads. The takeaway: If you do not need to use all the bedrooms, or you do not mind double beds, then the sleeping spaces may be sufficient for your group. The plumbing needs a serious upgrade, but if you are not using all the showers you could find some that are usable.

If you're looking for forward-thinking design elements and an interior that's evolved over the last four decades, look elsewhere. 1785 is not just its moniker; it's when time pretty much stopped inside. Save the menu and a few plasmas behind the side bar, this place doesn't have an shred of evidence the current date is anytime after 1984. Fact. That said, the caliber of production is peculiarly high. From prep technique, to flambeed drinks and desserts, to the old world sense of service and guest hospitality, 1785 is a stand-out in a culinary world transfixed with snark, salt and subterfuge. The seared sea scallops were perfect. And I mean perfect - not mealy or fibrous from being overcooked, nor were they gummy and faintly brined. Tender, smooched with potent flavors of fennel, orange and tarragon, and fall-apart where appropriate, they were a smash out of the park, and on the tongue. As was the table-side Caesar salad ( a must, split between two guests) - get it with 'chovies or face my wrath. Be forewarned, others at the tables were a bit non-plussed with their meals, and more than a few eyes shifted impatiently as we were sat 45 minutes after our reservation time, but hell, you'll be ski-burnt and exhausted anyway. Well worth the check out while zipping through Mt. Washington Valley. Don't forget the view out back!

The ceremony was held amongst the trees a few hundred yards from the barn and the cocktail hour took place right outside the barn overlooking the gorgeous view. The reception was held indoors and required little decoration due to the already beautiful and rustic setting. Norway is a small, somewhat remote town, but given the experience I can see why the couple choose the venue. Five stars!

I reached out to Anthony and was met with warmth, compassion, understanding, wise business sense and quick responses to any questions I had. This location is in the process of building a barn as a wedding reception venue. The blue prints of this barn as well as Anthony's passion speak for themselves. Their barn will be done in early summer with a wall of windows overlooking a mountainside. The "cabin" (more like a mansion) is breathtaking. I can honestly say that I am completely confident that with my wedding in Anthony and his crew's hands, it will be gorgeous and successful.

The Munch paintings on the wall. The books casually laid about that were epic flip throughs. Then the tastings. We moved back up our assigned table and we were served like 10 different tastings. It started with oysters, then vegetables, a fish pairing, more vegetables from their garden, and another meat and three deserts! Now without getting into specifics it was full of local flavors so exquisitely combined. We didn't even do the alcohol pairings, but the food stood alone. It was fabulous. And don't tell anyone (no shade to the other inn which was also beautiful), but I lucked out! I live in LA, so Maine in itself is like another planet to me, but the Waterford Inne was like a magical escape into a world of relaxation, complete with an enchanting orchestra of bullfrogs, owls, chickens. I even got to experience a thunderstorm! (That right there is worth five stars from Ms. It Never Rains in California!) My mom was an antique collector, and right away I knew she would have approved of the gorgeous antique rugs, furniture, and wall hangings. The bed in my adorable room was super comfy and the delicious farm fresh breakfasts (The eggs came from the cluck section of the enchanting orchestra I mentioned earlier.) were served in the spectacular barn of wood walls and giant beams that was somehow huge and cozy at the same time. If I didn't have a retreat to go to, I could have sat in there all day. My lovely hosts Kember, Jack, and Sam took great care of me. I highly recommend going to this charming inne before everyone discovers it and it's always booked.
