This was one of two record stores I wanted to stop by while visiting family in Charlotte. I went to the one at south end. Really cozy little place. It is a bit small but not really an issue if it isn't jam packed with people. They had a decent selection of records in the heavy genres and I ended up finding three records I'd been wanting so I consider that a win! I would have liked to check out the larger store at north end but I was on a bit of a time crunch. Maybe next time I'm down in NC. Prices weren't bad. I also bought a shirt. Prices are good for used vinyl, and quality is generally high. CD prices and quality are great. The owner is easy to work with, if you are interested in selling. He recently closed a store in Mint Hill, which was my favorite store. The Matthews store is good, but lately it doesn't look like the stock has been replenished. I've never been to the Charlotte stores, so I can't comment. read more

A good selection of records from a variety of artists, with a focus on classis rock.. The store is nicely arranged and the owner was easy to chat with. They even have cassettes and a few 8 -t racks. The prices are reasonable. read more

This a cool little "shop"... It's actually rented space inside a 2 story building that sells new and vintage products, so kind of like an antique store. It's on the second floor, so if you feel like you're in the wrong place keep looking or ask the cashier up front. Onto the records.... Hardy Boys has a very well curated selection of of mostly classic rock with a few small runs of other genres. But if classic rock is your thing you'll find very nice copies of The Beatles, Springsteen, The Stones, CCR etc all in 3 millimeter sleeves at very reasonable prices. While there I picked up a copy of The Psychedelic Furs "Talk, Talk" for only$4 and The Flying Burrito Brothers for $14 which I believe were priced slightly under common market value. The covers are not mint, but both had glossy vinyl that played without problems. If you go on Saturday the owner is typically there and chatting with the customers about music and collecting. Definitely a cool vibe.... I would keep this place on your Charlotte radar as new collections come in frequently read more

They have an amazing inventory including a lot of hard rock and metal that I've never seen elsewhere "in the wild". Price-wise they seems to pretty much stay close to if not a little under prices you're likely to find online and on Discogs. They are definitely in my "Rotation" now of spots to dig for vinyl to add to my collection! read more

Really a delightful little corner on the top floor of a lady-centric craft boutique. It's just a little space but stuffed to the gills with vinyl treasures. The stacks are well curated and the prices are fair. Found some choice stuff digging the crates including Prince, Echo and The Bunnymen, Parliament, Queensryche, Psychedelic Furs and a 1956 Hank Williams pressing that was only $2.50. I recently moved to the area from Denver, CO and I was in search of a reliable source for great vinyl albums. Through word of mouth, I was turned on to the Hardy Boys Instagram feed. Dean is a stand-up guy who values quality over quantity and his storefront is a perfect representation of that. The used vinyl I've purchased from him has been accurately labeled and priced accordingly. He has a great eye for classic rock, metal, r&b, funk, jazz and all genres in between. Picked up some Dire Straits, Emerson-Lake-Palmer, and several others. Noticed a David Gilmour solo album in the offerings. May have to pick that one up on my next trip.
