The food was good and the bloody mary's were AMAZING. The only problem I'm not giving it a higher rating is because we ordered steaks and when we got them they were not at all what we ordered. I order medium and got rare and my brother and his wife ordered medium rare and they basically got a hunk of meat with just the outside browned. The Marathon station and the Hardwood Cafe are two different places! The Marathon station is at the corner of US 141 and M-28 just north of the center of Covington, while the Hardwood Cafe is about a mile west of there on M-28. I think the atmosphere and food at the Hardwood Cafe are pretty good. Service has been good when I've been there. Prices seem reasonable. They have an decent salad bar, which I often have. read more

Fabulous steak and they also know how to cook it! The waitress had excellent timing. It was definitely worth our 45 minute ride to get there. It is not an old gas station or convenience store. We looked at the photo book of the construction of the log cabin. Keweenaw Brewing on tap too. read more
