I was not planning on leaving a review at all, but after their behavior over the last few days, I have to. First, this is season two that I hired them to mow. Last season, I paid them a lot to do other things. Not once did they follow the contract and do things how they said they would, but I paid and didn't complain. They did ok mowing, not great, but ok. My son had done better when we could mow, but it was ok. I hired them to bury drains and it was really close to $4,000 because they said they had to use drainage rock and a certain pipe. They didn't use any rock and didn't dig very deep. I'm now being told they used the wrong pipe. Anyway, I did look at other companies for season 2, but I hired them back. I actually thought they were good people until this season. They didn't mow short enough, so by the next day, it always looked like it wasn't mowed. They do a fast job, leaving much unmowed and from week to week, sometimes didn't weed whack at all, or barely did. The most upsetting was the damage done to an address sign, just bent over and ran over, a tree and my septic cap was torn up. My son saw one of the sons hit the tree until it was turned around and he ran over the tree. We had to take the tree down. Friday's mow, two days ago, was so bad, I had to call someone else to fix it. He had to re mow and there was so much grass, the mower deck filled up three times. After having it redone, it finally looks good for the first time all season. Instead of complaining, I just said we didn't need them to come back. My kindness was repaid by them sending me an invoice trying to insist it be paid today. I forgot to say that another son broke a bird feeder a few weeks ago, but he did tell me and offer to replace it. The thing is I know things get broken, but not only are expensive things getting broken, the actual job isn't getting done and yet I pay every month for bad weekly work. Every week got worse and yet, they talk about how good of a job they do. Nobody who sees my lawn thinks they did a good job. But me being an optimist, I even tried to get them a neighbor's yard this season because my neighbors needed help. For reasons unknown, Hard Yardz didn't seem to want the job. I never asked what happened with that. By contrast, I messaged the man who re mowed my lawn Friday, thanking him and his reply was happy to help. That was refreshing because Hard Yardz seems to have lost their desire to do good work, at least at my house. I expected their season was about done anyway, because even though my lawn needs mowed through November, last year about this time, their season was ending. My plan was to wait for them to say they were ending the season, then hire somebody be to finish it out, but then Friday happened. My lawn looked so terrible. Gras clumps everywhere, unmowed areas, very little weed whacking, tree destroyed, etc. if they hadn't sent the bill in such a nasty way, I probably would not have shared what this whole season was like. The younger one, especially seemed, in my opinion, to like to destroy things. Three containers we freshly painted, he wrecked the paint job with the week whacker, and not the bottom part either. He put a hole in a flower pot with the weed whacker too, and other stuff I mentioned. I saw his face the one day that I stood by an electrical cord when we were painting the fence and I wanted to make sure he saw the cord. I thought, wow, he wants to hit the cord. Not to mention, sometimes the dad, Jeremy, sleeps in the truck while the kids do the work. Others told me that bothered them. If they did good work without supervision, I wouldn't have cared, but even with him there, this season, there was not one week that good work was done, in my opinion. I am really upset. I always paid the bill, and this last month, before the due date, I even was reminded I hadn't paid. I usually hand them the check while they are here. Just paid them Friday, before they did the worst job ever here. Now they wanted paid today for two weeks in October. Paying online costs more. No apology for bad work. Just pay by today. They are upset with me that I hired others for the deck repair and fence construction, but I'm upset at the way they left my lawn all season, not to mention, the broken things. The septic top thing was the hardest to figure out what to do about. It's actually an insert to a pipe with a fitted top that has slits for septic as release or something like that. We found the top shredded in pieces and mower tracks on the septic lid. He had to get on the lid to reach that pipe. I called my septic guy and he told me a cheaper way to replace, but we had to fit it ourselves. Was not easy. I will never hire Hard Yardz again, nor will I recommend them. I hope they see this and make the necessary corrections to how they do their work and treat customers. I really feel that I deserved better. I liked them as people. That's the hardest part about all of this. read more
