This person walked in and started talking (more like screaming to me) like she was making a presentation to a crowd. Small conversations or stepping outside for a chat would be a nice, logical normal thing to do. Not to mention polite thing to do.

Aren't libraries supposed to be damp, dusty dungeons? Not when you're dropping CSH taxes :D. Besides this room there are small meeting rooms, tutor rooms, a children's center, a porch with chairs, plenty of computers to use, and a main room that looks like an awesome lodge. There are some fatty leather chairs around this place that I would take home and put in my house. The dvd selection is large, you can download e-books to your tablet and rumor is there are some books somewhere around here. No joke, this is the best library I have ever seen. Take a second to enjoy the quiet and the view here anytime you can.

I needed to print something on the run, so I stopped in…read more I haven't visited in many years. There are now three floors, and it is incredibly spacious. The layout is visually pleasing and highly functional. Gaining computer access on the main level was simple, and the employees were polite and professional. Very nice. You do not need a library card. There are plenty of computers available. You can use the computer for one hour. If you need additional time, you can visit with the circulation desk staff. There are also a few other computers you can use for longer periods of time by request. The internet speed was fastidious and they only charge ten cents a page to print. You can even do double sided printing to minimize costs if you need to. I decided to take a look around, as the library was so different than it used to be. There are large windows letting in a great deal of light, many photocopying machines, a fax, scanner, and books galore. There are lots of quiet study areas, and plenty of tables to work at. The downstairs area is for children with many cute displays, and the upper level has a lot of desks to utilize. The restroom was clean and well stocked with hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels. Parking was ample. The lot is large with many spots. The library is very easy to see from the road, and there are clearly marked signs for parking. My only complaint was there was a man on one of the computers all the way to the left, looking at porn. No one else seemed phased by this, but children visit the library. Come on! Overall a good experience. It's nice to see how far the library has come.

I grew up with the children's section and now as an adult love taking advantage of all the HPL has to offer. Tons of events are happening every month, check out the bulletin boards near the entrance for interesting and fun things, be sure to visit the basement as well. Might catch a book or art fair, maybe even a lecture depending on the day. Always clean, well organized and spacious, despite the open layout there's usually a quiet corner (within a large two floor setup) to retreat to if needed.

I have gone with my daughter for the mommy and me class. It is incredible. The kids all have a great time and it flies by. We don't stay afterwards, but there is a great area for young kids to hang out and read...or more likely be read to. It's a nice place and they are working on some construction there too, so I presume it will be even better. It also has a great classic look. I like it and they have tons of cool things going on.

They have a less robust selection of books to choose from compared to the Town of Huntington Commack Library. Many of the available toys are outdated/missing pieces. The summer reading program could be improved as well. The children aren't able to earn as frequently as they did in the past. Rather than having an opportunity to earn a large prize through raffle tickets at the end of an 8 week program, young children would benefit more from immediate reinforcement, such as a sticker to choose from after reading a certain number of books. Hoping improvements are made in the future. Will continue to use the Town of Huntington location to at least take out books until improvements are made.
