Reserved a car for 4 plus luggage. They send a tiny car claiming we said only two pieces of luggage which is not true. Had to squeeze with luggage in cab so we didn't miss flight AND they upped the price to the minivan price! Would have been one thing if that is what we had but to charge more than quoted because of their booking error doesn't seem fair. *Edited- Manager "Moe" called and explained the driver made the call to up the price on his own, in spite of him LYING and insisting the office told him to. "I'm just the driver, not my call, I just drive you safely." Said they would speak with him and offered us a free ride another time. The drivers are very nice, but this cab company plays 'games' with the rates. Last week a dispatcher tried to charge me a 6% CC fee (the legal amount in NYC cannot be over 4%) and today when repeating the exact same booking, I was told that I was being charged a $10 'surcharge' for this ride and that the dispatcher last week forgot to assess this to my booking. And if you use their app, the driver sees your full name, last 4 of your CC card and address - no security features there. This is not the same with ride share services. Also, at times the drivers have dirty cars and can take up to 30 minutes to pick you up. read more

I specifically used Harborview 3 years ago, after having a massive fire in my apartment, and having my insurance company place me in a furnished apartment in City Point, downtown Brooklyn. I used them often, going back & forth from my apartment to the apartment downtown. All the drivers were excellent as well as personable and professional. I just used them again this past Sunday for a ride to JFK. I have yet to call Harborview to lodge a complaint with them. The driver was a young guy who spoke on his phone the entire trip -- with one hand on the wheel & the other holding his cell phone. Too many times he sped and a few times stopped short, barely missing hitting the car in front of him. Talking on the phone the entire time doesn't give 100% attention to driving. And, in my opinion, this is a business. A car service business. Driving & paying attention to traffic etc is what's expected and required. I doubt I'll ever use this car service again. read more

The dispatch and drivers are extremely rude to those that live and work on Fort Hamilton Army base. On several occasions I have been yelled at or treated with disrespect. Recently, I needed a car for a quick local trip. For some reason, the driver immediately felt the need to share his personal drama with me and went into a story about the recent death of his daughter. I was extremely uncomfortable. Drivers need to understand the customer is not a therapist. We are not your captive audience to hear about family/life drama, listen to you rant about politics, be put in a position to answer your endless personal questions, which are highly inappropriate, etc. Keep your personal life to yourself and keep your personal opinions to yourself unless asked. The good - driver on time. Dropped us off at Alaska Airlines at JFK. The bad - our quote (online) was $50.00 plus $2.50 port fee. We were picked up at Clinton Wharf (Red Hook - Brooklyn for Princess Cruise Line). Total on quote was $52.50. The charge on my credit card was $70.20. I called to complain. They said the trip was $65.00 + $2.50 port fee + 4% credit card use charge. This was NO WHERE on my confirmation. Or on their website. When I called they did reverse the extra charge. Rely on Harbor View Car Service with increasing frequency over the past couple of years because my partner and I have become less Mobile and cannot use public transportation as easily or safely. In fact several years ago an uncle expressed surprise that we used public transit at all. So we've been needing to use the Harborview not only get in and out of Manhattan and similar trips from time to time, but also to run errands in Bay Ridge that in the past could be done by public transportation.We generally are very happy with Harborview. They are on time, they're courteous, they keep good records and they get us where we have to go on time in a comfortable clean car. We are very happy with the service and hope it stays this way. We made a reservation a day in advance, gave the flight info, called when the flight was delayed with the estimated arrival time. We did everything we could do to have the car waiting for us. Tonight our flight landed and I called the dispatcher to let them know. They said the driver was on his way. We waited AN HOUR from that point, indicating they sent the car when I called. After calling they gave the excuse of traffic slowing the driver down. At 11 pm on super bowl Sunday. A lie. And then when challenged on it we were told to talk to their boss tomorrow. No apology. They don't do pick ups from LGA at the American Airlines terminal. Not sure why... when I asked I was told "they don't let us in there anymore." This service is close to my home so I use them often. The quality of my experiences has been consistently low and the drivers are usually late. driver got lost picking us up at jfk, minivan had a bad tranny causing the car to repeatedly jerk forward during the rise home. loaded some of our luggage even after we repeatedly asked him not to. One of my son's medical devices were damaged due to the driver's loading and vehicle's jerking. called his office and were told they HAD to load the luggage as per tlc rules and their not responsible for our damaged property. will never use this company for anything. ever again. read more

The office dispatchers are courteous and efficient headed by Moe. The drivers are on time and with GPS are quite reliable. Trust that Harbor occasionally checks Uber and Lyft to stay price competitive. This was the first, and last time I will ever use this car service. To be fair, the driver managed to get us to our event, and was friendly, however, he was incredibly casual in expressing bigoted opinions. I am of mixed ethnicity, and my driver could not tell that I am half Chinese. All of Dyker Heights was condemned by this man, and he blamed the Chinese. I just sat there listening to this guy yammer on and on about how I'm ruining the city. They weren't the only demographic ridiculed. It was like the NYPost comment section came to life and decided to drive a cab. To be fair, I only rode with these guys one time, and I've encountered a lot of these kinds of rides with various car services. He wasn't trying to intimidate me, and looked sorry and embarrassed when I informed him of my background. I get that all car services are probably hit-or-miss. These guys have never actively screwed us on a pickup, and the only real problem I've had with a ride was the driver who thought I was paying to hear his dumb political opinions all the way to the airport. However, the other night I was out on Shore Rd. and I saw a man remove a small plastic bag from his trunk. It had some kind of object inside, and he winged it like a slingshot across the street and into the park. I took a closer look at the car, and it turns out he was a driver for Harbor View. Maybe I'm weird but this bugs me MORE than a screwed up ride. With a late pickup or something you know there might be extenuating circumstances. But this guy was blatantly disrespecting our neighborhood, and there's no excuse for that. For the time being I'm gonna call Dyker or Mega when I need a car. read more

This car service's headquarters is only about 3 blocks from me . I called on a rainy night, giving an hours notice for a cab. At the time I scheduled, I went downstairs to the lobby and waited. And waited. After 10 minutes I called the company. "We're really backed up tonight. He'll be there in 8 minutes." 15 minutes later I call again. "He's three blocks away, come out and stand outside." After standing in the pouring rain for another 10 minutes our car appeared. He didn't know our destination (though we'd given it when we called and got a quote) and seemed irritated that I only knew the street address and not the cross streets. I also just love it when drivers espouse their political beliefs, don't you? (I learned that they should send Obama to Mars and that Lyme Disease is a "conspiracy," for instance.) I'm giving 2 (as opposed to 1) stars because the price we were quoted was honored ($24 from Bay Ridge to Williamsburg) and we got there safely in an efficient amount of time. read more

When they started using square and some drivers have difficulty using the system but most can handle it fine by now. The cars are usually in good conditions and the drivers are very nice. I had a great experience with harbor view. I called for a cab for a friend and I to head to the city. The cab showed up on time, however my friend did not. The driver was very understanding and after a good wait I had to cancel the cab because my friend was just too late. He didn't charge me anything and I even tried to give him a tip for his time and he refused. I also happened to drop my keys in my frustration (doh!) and when I called later they had them at dispatch. I grabbed them later no problem. I needed to transport myself and one largish table 4 miles across Brooklyn. The driver was a good sport for my demand, helped load and unload, and got me to my destination fast and without any crazy driving (a staple of NY to be sure, but nice to go without when transporting furniture). Talked to dispatcher for two days about picking me up at hospital in New York and returning to Bay Ridge. Even wrote down the instructions. At time of pickup driver was in Bay Ridge not New York. Had procedure and could not walk. Had to walk to subway - fell five times. When I finally got home talked to dispatcher who told me I gave him the wrong instructions. He was very rude and obnoxious. I have experienced poor service once or twice in the past with poor drivers but today I call to reserve a car and the women who I spoke with needs to learn customer service really bad! She was snotty when I asked what time they should pick me up for LGA when I said what time I wanted to be there She had no idea and went into a speech about how she can't predict the traffic. They are a care service right? They do go to LGA on a regular service right? Unless they have lost a lot of business already. And they can't advise me of a good amount of time to be picked up? Harbor View is pretty dependable. My company uses them for our work trips and I have probably depended on these guys no less than 30 times. Out of all of those trips, they've only been late to pick me up 2 times, both of which were around rush hour in Brooklyn. Drivers are always polite and some are super friendly as well, which is nice in a city of apathetic cab drivers who only see you as a dollar sign. Their operators are generally pretty friendly as well, and they've saved my butt a few times squeezing me in at the last minute when I had forgotten to call my reservation in the night before. Those great instances of service completely offset the couple times they were late picking me up, so 5 stars for Harbor View! read more
