Triple T Western Bed & Breakfast - Fun around the campfire

Triple T Western Bed & Breakfast

We were looking for a place to ride horses near Tiffin, OH (where the girlfriend is from) and we…read morehappened upon the Triple T Bed and Breakfast, which is closer to Findlay, OH. It's about 2.5 hours from Cleveland and would probably be a decent stopover if you're spending a day or two at Cedar Point. To be honest, it's out in the middle of nowhere; but that's also part of its charm. We got out there the Saturday before Labor Day. Matt Theis, one of the owners was out giving a carriage ride to a bride and groom that had just gotten married. We were more than happy to wait out by the beautiful pool until he got back. We also got a chance to walk out towards the stable. They had 4 beautiful and friendly horses, just waiting to be ridden. We said our hellos and looked around and decided to dip our feet. After a few minutes we were greeted by one of the Theis's daughters, who gave us a nice tour around the place. We also found out that we would be the only guests for the night in the main house! We're not anti-social, but it is nice to have the whole place to yourself. We also found out that the reason we had the place to ourselves is that the B&B had only opened in August of last year. Needless to say, they are on the right track. Later that night, after our own charming ride in a pony cart behind a feller named Chester, we decided to head into the county fair (another reason we were out in the country for the weekend). It was the smaller variety of county fair, but with all the usual varieties of mullets, corn dogs and tractor pulls. Ah, always a good time. We retired that night, full of cotton candy and candy apples, to our really nicely decorated and cozy room. Each bedroom at the B&B has it's own bathroom (something that not all B&Bs have), and it was recently redone with some very nice furnishings and hardware. The bed was a comfortable queen size with some pretty quilts. The satellite TV and free wireless internet satisfied the geek in me that usually is hurting to find an outlet out in the country :). The next morning, we woke up and had breakfast at the pre-determined time. The Theis' were up and ready with some delicious fare. I believe their signature breakfast item is the apple fritter french toast. Wow. As Matt said, try it before you put syrup on it, because it really didn't need anything else. Round that out with some hearty bacon, eggs, toast, fresh peaches and black coffee...well, it doesn't get better than that. After breakfast we had also arranged for a trail ride on some of the horses they keep on the farm. Matt saddled the horses in the barn out by the guest house (also available as lodging) and I took "Sonny" and the gf took "Indy" out for a jaunt. They have about a mile or two of trails throughout their woods and Matt took us riding through them. It was pretty calm the whole way, but the thing that sets the Triple T apart from other trail rides, is they allowed us to ride around in the pasture. Sonny wasn't liking the idea of getting above a slow walk, but Indy got up there. Matt even let me switch to his horse and "Cherokee" flew as soon as I sat down in the saddle. That'll hurt tomorrow. All in all, it was a great day/night. The proprietors couldn't have been nicer, the surroundings were beautiful and secluded and the price was right. We got a "fair" special of 75 per night and paid the usual 25 each for the trail ride. However, if we had been in just about any hotel, it would have likely cost the same, being a holiday weekend (and wouldn't have included a trail ride). I would highly suggest you get out to the country for a weekend and try out the Triple T B&B!

I agree with the previous reviewer; the Triple T B&B is a wonderfully hospitable place, whether…read moretraveling as a single, couple, or with a family (I've traveled there both with a friend and with my family). Duke Farm - Large barnyard animals

Sharing my experience with Duke Petting Farm to save you from having to go through the same thing…read more I was having a big cowboy themed party for my boys joint birthday party. So I thought how fun would it be to have a cowboy horse & a petting farm. I Talked with Deb before even booking the party to make sure all the kids would be able to ride the pony. At first I asked for a horse because most of the kids would be around 10-11 years old. I was told a horse would be too hard for the little kids but she would send me a large pony that would be perfect for my age range. I told her no one would be over 120 pounds. She even asked me to put it in an email and I did. I am sharing that email in the photo section. I confirmed this with the owner several times before the party. Fast forward to party day when the problems all began. She sent 2 girls to work my one hour party. The one girl that ran the petting bunny area was EXTREMELY rude to all the little kids. Even rolling her eyes at them when they asked what kind of balloons she could make. She yelled at them multiple times when kids 3 years old were petting the baby bunnies. To a point of me and several parents going in the bunny pen to help. It was so embarrassing that people at my party were being treated this way. Several of the bunnies kept escaping. She yelled at the 3 year old birthday boy when he went to get a second handful of food from the food bucket they bring. She said "you already fed the animals." We tried to talk to her to help change her bad mood but it was the entire time and super disappointing as this was a kids party. The other thing I would like to warn you about is that TONS of the kids were turned away from riding the pony. The girl working said they were too tall. One of the girls was a tiny 10 year old weighing no more that 65 pounds. If height was a requirement I should have been told that before the party. Like I said I discussed this with her multiple times. So only a few little kids got to ride over and over. When you pay over $500 for someone to bring animals to your party you expect at least kind service. I contacted the owner before coming to social media. She said the girl working the party was only 14 years old. While she did say she would talk to her she made all kinds of excuses. I think it would be better to have an adult working something like this. She told me the bigger pony they had used at a different party that day and had problems with so they switched to this one. I understand things happen in life but those are not a customers problem. While I couldn't come to an agreement with the owner I thought I could at least warn all my friends or anyone thinking to book for a party! Stay far away. I wished I would have booked somewhere else. After having the party I had several people recommend Tyler's exotic animals. They said he is much more kid friendly. Just super disappointed that so few kids got to ride the pony & that the other worker that ran the balloons/petting area treated everyone so rotten. It was an awful experience and I have booked lots of big things for events. Never have I had to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism. Truly disappointed.

I took my 10 year old out here for some riding for her birthday, the offer lessons for a fair price and they also do this thing called "Mini-Mondays" where younger kids get to do fun activities and dive into the agricultural world. My girls just wrapped up softball and we're so excited to sign up for volunteering at the farm!!

This guy shouldn't own animals. When he confronted me at local bar in Fremont about why I life and to get the current scoop on his ex horse trainer Lori. He said I QUOTE "I YELL AND HIT ALL MY ANIMALS" My response was "well it's not ok for you to tell or hit mine. These animals are my children and ANYONE who interferes with their well being will never be ok in my book " He then proceeded to tell me how good his life was , and how drama free he is since I took his trainer and only horse boarders with me - But look at him how happy are you if your dedicating 40 hours a week into being a little internet warrior? There's truly a million and one reasons you shouldn't go here or bales & tails. One being that none of these people are licensed or have any formal education. Just been riding horses for some years and labeled themselves as know all equestrians. Go to Tesoro QHs out of auburn, or private lessons with margret off of Copeland rd, she is a IEA certified instructor ! Does trail riding also. My heard of horses are happier ad healthier than ever since moving stables. My senior is fat again, no one is skiddish. I have a yearling who's already broke to death it's seems - a rider. 60 acres of pasture , and my team of vets has done an amazing job with routine care of my animals! Something both Jeff and Lori don't know much about. Jeff tried to sell me on a EPM story for a 30 year old lane horse. Then, tells me at the pub the vet said it it was worms. Must have a confused or high vet if he changes diagnosis on a basis. Major didn't die from worms or EPM. He died from weed killer because Jeff is TOO LAZY to weedwack. What a stand up guy, truly

JT was excellent communicating with dates/times for booking, clear on deposit and what to expect on our trail ride. He had obviously checked everything on the trail before we arrived, horses were ready to go, he was safety conscious with requiring helmets for younger riders and offering to the adults and clear riding instructions to make sure we all had a great ride. Trails were in great shape, had many options for where we ride, and options for walking and trotting. Kids loved giving treats to the horses after the ride. Will definitely ride here again.

NOT A TRAIL RIDE. Beautiful horses, clearly well cared for. I started off the ride really hopeful…read moredespite Sara being late getting the horses ready. Both 10 year olds with me were excited. After 2 trips around the 1/10 mile round trip of the small pond in the backyard of her 1/2 acre lot, I began to get concerned. We were led with a volunteer who was walking my horse, so as we were chatting I realized the plan of the trail ride is to circle the tiny pond 6 times and walk a 1/4 mile down an open road and back in one direction. No interesting nature, no shade on the road and there were concerns about going in the other direction on the road when we asked for a different view (apparent neighbor issue). In total we circled the pond 3 times and went down the road and back 2 times. I don't get alot of time with just my big kids and certainly we don't have the ability to provide horse lessons, but on this one day I was hoping to have an experience in nature with my children allowing them to see Mother Nature's beauty. The picture in Oak openings is not where trail rides are conducted and there is no space for a bit of nature wonder at her stable. I walked her horses and paid $50/ person for it. When confronted, Sara explained that some places just walk their horses down the driveway and call it a trailride;therefore she refused any level of recompense. Don't be hoodwinked this is not the trail ride you are looking for, you are just exercising her horses for her and paying for the privilege.
