Swollen and infected after TPLO by Stubbs
    Gary M.

Updating to advise pet parents to consider other quality surgeons in the area, and avoid Dr. Stubbs. He is technically a great surgeon but has zero accountability or compassion for your pet after he closes up your pet. He's obviously too important and/or too busy to admit when his patient becomes critical and needs to be rushed to an ER due to serious infection. Dr Stubbs travels to many clinics but just goes through the motions...

Maybe a month after surgery and she is back to herself!

I had brought my 14 year old cat to our first vet office in Denver for a ruptured gland and she underwent emergency surgery. After two weeks she was still lethargic, and seemed standoffish. I was concerned that maybe she had an infection and incidentLy discovered a coin sized lump under her skin. I had heard of Happy Tails from a co-worker, and decided it was time for a new set of eyes. I was most impressed with the vet, Dr. Cohen, giving my cat a thorough examination, and inspecting her teeth. A nerve was exposed according to Dr. Cohen on one of her teeth, and it explained why she had been dropping food while eating (I had not made that connection). My cat's teeth and the lump was assessed and the pricing was very transparent and itemized. My fur baby had surgery and tooth extraction one week later. The lump was an aggregate of bacteria cells, likely from the ruptured backside gland. The pricing was high, but fair. I think what shocked me the most was how many people suggested it was time to put my cat down! Now that she has made a full recovery she is eating better, running around, playful, and seems healthier than ever before. A few of my cats growing up lived to be in their 20s, and I am grateful for Happy Tails getting my cat through this health hiccup.

My darling girl had a stroke and died March 6, 2021. I am grateful that it was not at 'Happy' Tails. Nothing HAPPY about this place.

This is a mixed review, great care for my animals, but the med cost is confusing. I will talk about…read moreone drug that my dogs will need for a long time, Incurin tablets (estriol) pee meds. GoodRX pet vs office payout. I am an Army veteran, 100% disabled and live on my enlisted military pension, not getting rich, more on the poverty side. At the office each pack of 30 costs 50.00 and I have two dogs taking two pills daily, so I need them every two weeks costing me 200.00 a month just for this pills. Now at GoodRX pet these drugs are 25.00 for 30 tablets, meaning it would only cost 100.00 a month to order these drugs from GoodRx... let me tell you the rest of the story. So GoodRx says we can call the vet and have them approve this or they can give you a script and send it in, I chose have them call the Vet. Vet office tells them we no longer do this over the phone he must pick up a script.... No problem, called and said can you do the script, yes you can pick it up later. What does the script say, good for only 2 fills! Meaning every month I will have to get a new script from the office send it in and have possible delays in getting the med or pay the 200.00 cost, just making this inconvenient for myself. These times we are in, we all feel the crunch... now if you don't want me getting mail order drugs, then lower your price, GoodRX is still making a profit at 25.00 a pack, lower your price to 30.00 and I will pay that at your office. What I feel is by making me send a script in monthly to get my dogs meds, you are trying to penalize me for trying to save 100.00 a month, I am real confused. You can say, well the dog may not need the meds and that's why we limit you... yet I have to take my dogs in monthly for a blood test to make sure it's needed and not harmful to my pups or at the well check.... So if you tell me at the appointment the dog doesn't need the meds do you think I will still give it to them? Really confused. Maybe I am asking too much, a fair price to help me save money. I know folks think us military folks are not the brightest, I will agree I may not be as smart as someone with a degree... but something just doesn't seem right. I have no problem spending thousands a year on my pets health and wellbeing, I think this office treats my pets well... I am just lost why I need to pay 1200.00 extra a year for just one med.

This is the LAST STRAW, and potentially a FATAL one, at that. We have been suspecting lymphoma for our dog and it has been 3.5+ weeks since we started this discovery process and we had to follow up several times to get work up done, get results and 4 procedures later, we still do not know for sure. Doctors don't reply to emails and results are not communicated timely, even after follow ups. There is a huge back office issue in continuity of care. We've raised this so many times and it just keeps happening. It boils down to POOR MANAGEMENT. There is no sense of urgency. His illness could be aggressive and this 3+ week delay could be a MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. We are at week 4, and we are moving to another vet office and still have not done any definitive treatment! We've been encountering a lot of back office issues with them for 3+ years and THIS IS THE LAST STRAW. WE ARE SO UPSET because this is not how you run a medical practice! The owner also cannot be bothered to check-in nor investigate. Just STAY AWAY. This is literally the worst VET office we've worked with. Absolutely TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE. They have also poked and prodded our dog more than necessary. We also run a medical clinic. This is NOT how you run one. It is safe to say that they clearly just want you to keep paying more and more. I can't say "TERRIBLE" enough. Save yourself the heartache and stress and stay away. We are pulling all 3 dogs from this incompetent office. The cherry on top is they even botched sending over our records to the new practice, thrice. We had to ask twice and The receiving practice had to contact them again just today since they sent it incorrectly. They're consistent with their errors. That's for sure. IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOGS, SAVE THEM, BY NOT GOING TO THIS NEGLIGENT PRACTICE ______ Previous review Very expensive compared to most clinics I've been with ---by a LOT. I usually don't mind spending on my pets because they are my world (!), but the prices are too much and they keep upselling you on non-essential services. I don't feel like they are looking out for dog owners and keeping expenses reasonable. They offer every test, every supplement, or procedure instead of providing practical guidance to avoid unnecessary expenses. The staff are great and extremely caring with dogs. I have mixed feelings because I usually spend on average, between $200-$600 per visit here! .
