This is a great place to take your pet. Our dog cut her paw and they have been so helpful! They saw us quickly, then got us in a few days later when we needed a new cone, and then got us in a few days later, before they closed, when we needed our girl's paw re-wrapped (Maisie managed to Houdini her way around her cone to remove her bandage). I had brought my 14 year old cat to our first vet office in Denver for a ruptured gland and she underwent emergency surgery. After two weeks she was still lethargic, and seemed standoffish. I was concerned that maybe she had an infection and incidentLy discovered a coin sized lump under her skin. I had heard of Happy Tails from a co-worker, and decided it was time for a new set of eyes. I was most impressed with the vet, Dr. Cohen, giving my cat a thorough examination, and inspecting her teeth. A nerve was exposed according to Dr. Cohen on one of her teeth, and it explained why she had been dropping food while eating (I had not made that connection). My cat's teeth and the lump was assessed and the pricing was very transparent and itemized. My fur baby had surgery and tooth extraction one week later. The lump was an aggregate of bacteria cells, likely from the ruptured backside gland. The pricing was high, but fair. I think what shocked me the most was how many people suggested it was time to put my cat down! Now that she has made a full recovery she is eating better, running around, playful, and seems healthier than ever before. I just want to thank all of the wonderful staff and doctors for their compassionate and competent care given to my best friend, Ryan. Ryan was a beautiful vibrant labradoodle who was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. His local vet hospital was months out for any surgeries. Happy Tails was there for us immediately. They removed the tumor within 10 days. Unfortunately, the disease had spread. There was nothing to be done except comfort care until the inevitable end. The staff and crew provided me with medications and advice to help make Ryan's final month as comfortable as possible. They returned all calls, ordered medicines and followed up immediately in their efforts to help us. I am eternally grateful for their professionalism and even more their competence and compassion. During this time dealing with Covid I miss interacting with the Vet. But, there is still Face to face interactions with the staff. I highly recommend the Vet Tech, Sean. He was very informative and helpful with all my questions. I could tell he loves my dog and his job. Also, the 2 vets I have worked with were very helpful in the care of my dog. My conversations with them Was on the phone because of Covid, but both times I never felt rushed and all my questions were answered. I would rate the clinic as less than 1 but that is not an option. My 14 year old cat has hissed 4 times in the 9 years I've had the pleasure to be her parent. I took her in because she had an ear infection. She was clearly in pain. The blood work etc. cost much more than I was told. It turned into an eye infection. I took her back to Happy Tails only caring about her well being. The charge was supposed to be $75 and somehow ended up well over $200. I was told that she was very difficult to deal with and had to be wrapped in a towel to handle. I understand doing this. She was so traumatized that it took days for her to let me pet her again. She has never run from me before. Now I'm trying to get her records and have received nothing so I will have to cancel her appointment with another vet. I hate leaving poor reviews but I am very unhappy with Hapoy Tails and cannot recommend this practice. First, they are obsessed with money and they're quite expensive to begin with. For example, once I forgot my debit card and said I would call them once home with that number. I hadn't even gotten home before they were calling me. I have 3 dogs I've brought to them for nearly 5 years. I've never stiffed them on a bill. Another time I brought my dog in for a recheck after a simple procedure. The vet walked by us in the lobby, peeked at my dog then wanted to charge a full office visit fee! My biggest issue is I believe they are partially responsible for me having to put my dog down last week. 8 months ago I noticed a small bump on his paw. I brought him in for an exam and this bump, about the size of a peppercorn, was downplayed. Then in April it had gotten larger and was bothering him so I brought him back. The initial vet was no longer at the practice and the new vet did an aspiration. Cancer. They had to remove a toe and after a month he was constantly nauseated and refused to eat. The cancer spread. If it wasn't ignored and allowed to spread for 7 months, would my dog still be with me? Maybe. The only explanation I got was "Well that vet isn't here anymore." No words of responsibility or remorse. I brought him to another practice to put him to sleep. Were are still so very sad. They know he was put down. No card. No call of condolence. They got their $3000 in treatment costs from me over a few weeks. What did they care? I gave them an a 2 star rating because their techs and front end staff are always very pleasant. Still with so many other options around, I can only recommend you choose one of those. After being a loyal customer, Im shocked at the level of their disregard. read more

*READ* :-( I found an ad on Groupon, for a dental cleaning for my cat, which said it was $173, with the Groupon discount. This was a bit of a scam. They said I would have a meeting first, and my cat would be examined before the procedure, so I could discuss prices, and have an idea from the doctor of what to expect. I was required to drop the cat off at 7:15 in the morning, and after talking to the receptionist about prices, and what to expect, found out the doctor wouldn't even be in for another hour, and that the exam would be done in my absence, and I would be contacted by phone. There were a number of things that weren't included in the price, that were essentially mandatory. Pain medication, local antibiotics, take-home antibiotics, and the warm laser they said they needed to use to speed healing, and for his comfort. I finally contacted the doctor after about 5 hours of not hearing, and the doctor said he had examined him, and it looked like everything would be okay, they just needed to do the cleaning. If there were any extractions needed, it could be $30, or more per extraction. A couple hours later, I got a call from the receptionist, who said my cat was under anesthesia, and they found an abscess at the root of a tooth, eating away at the tooth below the gum line, where you couldn't see. They would need to do one extraction, and she told me what the final price would be, and made sure I was willing. When I got there to pick up my cat, they showed me an x-ray they said was my cat's, and showed me where the tooth was being eaten away, beneath the gum line. The price was as quoted by phone, which was substantially more than advertised, once they padded it as heavily as possible. With the mandatory add-ons, and that single extraction, I was now paying $556.80, instead of the advertised $173 that got me in the door. My cat's teeth are now clean, he is missing a tooth, and I don't have rent- I pray that at the very least, he really did need to lose the tooth they took from him. I did not have an option to change course, as the exam wasn't even done in my presence, and they didn't happen to find any issues until he was actually under the knife. The high cost of low prices. If you are considering taking your cat here, weigh your costs carefully. I may have saved money, taking my cat to a more expensive vet. read more

We came here after our last vet nearly killed our dog through incompetence. The dog only lived because my daughter's friends parents dropped around and they said to get that dog to the ER. I'm sad to say these guys are no better. The first vet we had tried to pick a fight with us about desexing our dog. We had researched the subject and decided not to do this (the risk of spay incompetence was too high in our breed), but she just wouldn't drop it so we bit our tongue and then demanded never to see that women again. Then we paid a lot of money to diagnose a skin condition and had to nag them to get the results. In the end, they gave us some pathetic excuse for a diagnosis in a phone call in the early evening. Then I had a call with the practice manager and she has to be one of the rudest people I've had to deal with in the service industry. In the end, I had to get my wife on a conference call to make the exact same request just so she would listen. I would hope there is better; perhaps not, but we will at least try to find it elsewhere. read more

If I could give them a zero I would!!! They misdiagnosed my dog several months ago. They diagnosed her with Arthritis and was given very expensive medications. When none of them worked and my dog got worse, I called to bring her back in, that wanted to change me $35 extra on top of the regular fee to just get an appointment, they said because they had to squeeze me in, after already paying hundreds of dollars for the first visit. I decided to take her to a different vet only to find out she had aggressive bone cancer, and we ended having to put her down. I do not recommend this facility!!!!!! read more

I am so incredibly sad to have to write this but also very disappointed. I've been taking all three of my doges to Happy Tail for years, and have literally spend thousands there. I was okay with paying slightly higher prices as I LOVED the vet and my girls were always taken care of. Sadly their customer service has gone downhill majorly. In February of this year my older girl needed two of her teeth capped. Without hesitation I made the appointment, paid my bill and got her teeth fixed. Just two weeks ago, I noticed that one of the teeth that were fixed was chipped again, so I took her back in hoping that they could repair the tooth. I also had a concern that Lilly had a UTI, so I mentioned this to the tech who helped. They gave me a quote for the tooth (fixing and/or pulling) as well as the UTI. A total of $515 and some change. They also mentioned that there would be a $13 charge for anti-nausea medicine as she had breakfast that morning. I agree to it and left my baby there. Shortly after I get a call saying that the anti-nausea medicine would be $50+ since she's a bigger dog and that I was quoted wrong.... I obviously agreed to them giving her the medicine even though they really should have comped the price difference. When my husband went to pick up Lilly the vet, who didn't even meet with me when I dropped off Lilly, told him that the UTI was clear but they were giving her antibiotics that would help with both her tooth and if there was a UTI with that. The total bill was $701.00 - when I was quoted $515.00 The UTI test is a $150 test, the antibiotics they gave are way more expensive then the ones for just her tooth... SO if the UTI test was clear why give more expensive antibiotics? AND if you were going to give her antibiotics regardless why not tell me to wait on the UTI test until after the surgery to see if it had cleared up? When I went in yesterday for her follow up appointment... we didn't even get a room to go into and see an actual vet. We sat in the lobby and a tech came out to ask how she's doing. She barely took a look at Lilly or her tooth, did NOT give me any kind of care instructions such as if she should be started back on dry food or not and only asked if I wanted to pay another $130 for her vaccines .... Needless to say I am removing all three of my dogs from the care of Happy Tail and will be going to another vet down the street who not only told me the after care instructions on the phone, got me in to see their vet AND is half the cost of Happy Tail for vaccines. Again, so incredibly disappointed in the awful service. As a small business owner I understand needing to pay bills, I understand upcharging, BUT if you are going to charge more you better have the service to go with it. read more

Relaxing at the vet! Not a first! This place is great! The staff is very knowledgeable and really great with my pup! The facility is meticulously clean, it is very serene with in wall fish tanks everywhere, which the dogs love to watch, and moderately priced. We have been coming here for three years and have been through several docs and each one of them has been just as good as the next. They are very respectful of my dog 's sensitivities to vaccinations and my decline of many shots. They never push me. If you're looking for a great vet, this is certainly one. read more

Happytails then tells me "we will have to charge you," $ 897 to save your dog! are you kidding me, they caused this situation and refused to accept responsibility and charged me for it! read more

I wish I had the option to give this place "No Stars". I went in to have my dog vaccinated and was told by the receptionist that since its a rabies vaccine it will be considered a recheck for him! What? I have never heard of that. Every time I have had my dog vaccinated it was a quick in and out with a minimal fee for the vaccination. What a rip off!!! I've been a loyal customer to Happy Tails since they first opened. I guess the bigger they get the less they care about keeping their customers. Find a vet that cares more about your pet than their fee schedule and up charging. Time to look for a new vet!!! Terrible! I've taken my cats here a few times and it has always been more expensive than they qouted me. This time we took our cat in for vomiting (second visit actually, first was in August). In our first visit they did an exam and then told us to simply change his food-thats it. No recommendations no help nadda. Well, we did that and he was still sick so we cane back to do a blood panel ($285). Then they didn't find anything so they recommended an ultrasound which would be roughly between $400-$600. We decided not do that and when I was called to pay for our blood work, I was then told that our cat needed a shot and some anti-nausea pills. I should have clarified why he needed that but I didn't so then the bill went from $285 to $361. Also they wanted a $150 deposit for the ultrasound even though I didn't commit to doing it yet. When I picked up my cat I told the vet tech that I was frustrated with the situation and she told me that it was my fault if I didn't understand the extra charges. She also repeated herself and had a rude tone. Seriously, if you love your animals then don't come here. They are out to get your money and could care less about your pet. 2 stars mean I've experienced better, which I have. 3 Stars is A-OK. This place isn't that great. It's very pretty, nice location, etc but they are EXPENSIVE. My dog went in for a dental cleaning, which I was given originally quoted a fair price for blood work and dental procedure. Upon the day of the procedure, I was quoted several hundred dollars more for tooth extractions, and many other things not needed at the time, oh and ridiculously overpriced medications needed afterward, such as antibiotics, different types of pain killers, etc. There are a couple vet techs I really liked, but there are a couple who didn't know what they were talking about. I always received conflicting information from vets and vet techs. Do not get me started on Dr. Brown who misquoted me important prices for a ongoing injection medication for my dog with arthritis. She told my dad my dog needed 6x pills of tramadol per day and then told me something different on a different visit. I got tired of the disconnect of information, and prices were always higher than I was originally told. It's never lower, right?! I have moved on from this place. If you are not sure about going here, maybe check out Heritage Animal Hospital instead, near Gartrell and Aurora Parkway by HEB. So far, so good. They offer Adequan injections over a hundred dollars less than Happy Tails. If your elderly dog has trouble moving around, Adequan may really help. You'll find that it won't cost you $250 for 7 injections if you go somewhere else. There's no need to pay that much. read more

My experience at Happy Tails I was going to keep to myself and not leave a review, however after an incident today I feel that other pet owners should be aware. In June, my dog had hot spots on her face. She was scratching at them and causing an infection. My regular vet was unable to see her due to availability. I eventually found Happy Tails and they had an opening to see my dog. The vet tech who came out to get My dog was a super,sweet blonde lady who answered all my questions and seemed to take interest in my dog. I left feeling confident that Rosie would be taken cared of. The vet called me and gave me an update about her hot spots and what to do. That part was all great and has helped my dog a ton! It is what happened after that made me never want to go back to Happy Tails. They wouldn't let me pick up Rosie till after their lunch break and then I had an appointment right at the time they got done with lunch, so I asked if they were able to keep her or if I was able to come sooner before their break. I was told I couldn't come pick up my dog before their break and that they could hold her no problem. An hour later while I am at my appointment I get a phone call from them. Apparently, my dog was stressed out being locked in a kennel and was barking constantly. She then tore her toenail out from (I'm assuming) clawing at the kennel door. Not 10 minutes later I receive another call that she has now loosened a tooth from chewing on the kennel bars that now needs SURGERY to be removed... When I asked why Rosie had not been moved to be supervised the first time she hurt herself, they said they moved her up to a front kennel so the front desk could see her... Clearly she was STILL not being monitored if she could chew on a kennel bar for 10 minutes without being noticed and loosen her tooth!!! They were apologetic and said they could get her in the next day bright and early to do the tooth surgery. Well, when I went to drop her off, they were trying to charge me for a FULL teeth cleaning since "they were already in there and could give me a discount". Excuse me but my dog would not have been in this position if someone would have actually adhered to her needs. I was completely appalled that they were still trying to make money off of this situation that was their fault. I had to debate with them that I should really not be paying for any of it and compromised on paying for just the blood work and the pain shot after surgery. My dog has healed just fine and we did not have to go back thank goodness, but an absolutely horrible experience for our first and ONLY time at Happy Tails. Fast forward to now when I went back to my original vet for my dog's wellness check up and asked them to contact Happy Tails for the blood work so we wouldn't have to do that again and I could save some money. Happy Tails told them that they had NO record of doing blood work on my dog... weird since her arm is still shaved from where they took the blood and the fact you have to draw blood before going under anesthesia. This is what infuriated me. I then called Happy Tails after the vet visit to have them send over my invoices from that day and my dog's records... The lady who I spoke with was not friendly at all and acted like I was bothering her by even calling. She told me she could send the invoices over to me, but the records had to be approved by the Manager to be released... Why would MY records need to be approved to be given to me? I did get my invoices back and literally the second thing on the list is "blood work". So, not only did my dog and myself go through EXTRA trauma then necessary, I also got to pay more to have something done that was already previously done because they didn't want to give my vet the information. I am extremely disappointed and angry that my dog went in healthier than when she was returned to me and then they have the audacity to pretend like they did not have record of the blood being drawn when it is clear as day on the receipt. Long story short our tails were certainly NOT happy at all walking away from Happy Tails. read more

I have been extremely satisfied with the care and treatment Dr. Bos and the other employees at Happy Tails have provided. Heather and the other girls who work in the front are wonderful, they always recognize me as I arrive and are very happy to see my two dogs when they visit. Until now, I have not found a vets office that I felt accommodated my schedule and my furry family members. Some other reviews mention how pricey the office can be. I don't feel this is an issue with just this office, it has been my experience at all vet offices that the care they wish to provide with testing can add up rather quickly, however, they are only recommending the treatment they feel would benefit your pet. I did have a similar situation in which the doctor recommended a shot for our new puppy, but our breeder recommended otherwise. After sitting down with the doctor and expressing my concerns with the shot, she did not pressure me and only discussed why she would recommend it, leaving the final call up to me. They will always provide an estimate of what the costs should be, you can then make a decision to move forward with treatment. They have always been extremely helpful and concerned for the well being of both my dogs. I personally cannot imagine taking them anywhere else! read more

This is just an update on my dog, I have Trupanion insurance. Before they can pay for the surgery that she need or before we can get reimbursed for the surgery trupanion need all records. They have asked happy tails for the records multiple times. Again I had to call them and raise a little hell before anything has been done. They are very good with my dog but was disappointed when I had to pay an extra $70 charge because they had a lot of cancellations and my dog had to go earlier into surgery for a teeth cleaning. My boyfriend forgot not to feed our dog so they had to give him medication to not be nauseous. At first they did not tell me I owned extra but because of other cancellations I got hit with a bill because they took my dog in early. It was partly our fault for not remembering not to feed our dog but at lest charge me half of the bill. No one likes an extra cost when you are already paying a huge bill . read more
