I brought my 1-month-old here to address a lip and tongue tie that was severely interfering with his ability to eat. While Dr. Will was excellent and clearly knowledgeable, my experience with the office staff was unacceptable and dishonest. Before our visit, I explicitly told the staff that my child had both private insurance and Medicaid. They confirmed they accepted both. After the appointment, I was blindsided when they demanded a copay -- something I have never been required to pay with Medicaid. Despite my confusion, they insisted a copay was mandatory and pressured me into paying. It got worse. I was then told that the procedure to release the ties would cost $900 out of pocket because, according to them, Medicaid wouldn't cover it until my child turned one year old. I was stunned, especially since I had asked this exact question beforehand and was told they'd have to run my insurance to know. Faced with that steep price, I declined the procedure. I later learned the truth: Medicaid does cover this procedure for infants. The information I was given by the office staff was flat-out false. Because of their misinformation, my baby endured an extra month of painful, difficult feedings until I found a provider elsewhere who correctly handled the procedure under Medicaid coverage. I feel scammed, lied to, and completely taken advantage of. The front office's dishonesty directly impacted my child's health and caused us unnecessary suffering and delay. While the doctor himself was wonderful, I cannot in good conscience recommend this office due to the unethical and misleading conduct of their staff. I strongly urge other parents to be extremely cautious when dealing with the billing and insurance staff here, and to double-check everything they are told -- your child's care depends on it. read more

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Happy Pediatric Dentistry. I scheduled an appointment well in advance, but when they called a day before to confirm. I was informed about a balance I supposedly owed, which I was never informed about. Keep in mind the DOS was in Aug of 2024 and you just now bring it to my attention. I mentioned to the lady that I would have to take some time to investigate the balance and speak to my insurance first before paying. Well unfortunately, we won't be able to see you until you pay this balance. It was so unexpected and left me feeling blindsided. Communication is key, and the fact that they didn't let me know beforehand is just not right. This lack of transparency and customer service is a major letdown. and the staff seemed indifferent to the inconvenience they caused. Again, The lack of communication and professionalism was unacceptable. read more

Adequate facilities, I like the doctor, I thought he was pretty good; my issue is with the front desk staff, Unfriendly front desk staff, and lazy.Last time I came I was standing in front of them holding a kid for 10 minutes, one was busy but the other was on her phone, then she got up and walked away. Today, finished treatment, kid was dozed off, instead of walking 10 feet to check me out, they wait until you're carrying a kid that is now agitated, drowsy to check you out. I asked about the payment which she was confused about, told me 4 amounts and when I asked because it first seem right her response was it's on the plan. No explanation and looked at me like I was crazy for asking. I'm pretty surprised someone working customer service, is that unresponsive when customers are asking for assistance. I had a crying baby so had to leave, but I'll return to discuss with the office manager but more importantly with the referring dentist there are too many practices in this area to deal with this level of incompetence, I recommend looking elsewhere, and for the cherry on the cake they don't answer their phones! Everything about this practice is pure JOY! We brought our son for his first dental visit, he is 2 years and 11 months old. This practice really is appealing from the moment you walk in the door. There is a movie room, area for playing while parents check in, Keurig coffee for us, and beverages for the children if needed. The restroom is large and roomy for both changing diapers as well as nursing. They have age appropriate movies, and 2 fun iPad stations with age appropriate apps as well. Once you enter, the staff is friendly and very attentive. Doctor Castillo came and introduced himself to our son and spoke to him about the experience. When we entered the room, our son ran directly to the center of the room where the aquatic bubble tower is that serves as the centerpiece for the chairs that are arranged around the circumference of the room. This floor plan is very open and inviting. The colors are soothing, and there are screens within view of every area of the room where movies are available. Our son proceeded to the chair assigned with joy and laughter! I don't think I have ever approached a dental examination this way myself in all my life he was truly excited. Doctor Castillo explained to us that their goal is that this should be an inviting and fun experience for the child where he can learn and become comfortable with the process. While he spoke with us, the dental assistants were engaging our son with a large stuffed dinosaur that needed his teeth brushed. He loved it! He then focused all his attention to our son and truly met him at his level with songs and stuffed animals with big smiles, and a gigantic toothbrush so our son could practice on them. He wanted to take this home! We were so amazed at how well this visit went, as our son lay back and opened his little mouth wide while Dr. Castillo examined, and cleaned his little smile. We received a new toothbrush, floss and coupons with our goody bag, as well as a treat from their toy area on the way out. My Husband and I lingered and I admit we did not want to leave because it was so much fun. I HIGHLY recommend this practice to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist, especially if it is your little one's first time because this was a great experience for our entire family. Dr. Castillo is truly one of a kind. I have an autistic son. He was turned away by two different dentist office after seeking treatment for his teeth. Dr Castillo and the staff were wonderful. We are new to Texas and I brought all 4 of my kids here. The environment was very kid-friendly. Dr. Castillo took his time explaining and making sure my kids were comfortable. His assistants however seem inexperienced and was unsure of what they're doing. However, the billing was frustrating. They coded a procedure wrong and charged us an out of pocket expense. I called my insurance and found out the coding was wrong and we should not have been charged. I called the office back and they fixed it for us. In addtion, they ran a preauthorization with my insurance before we decide to have the procedure done. We paid our part when the procedure was complete. A week after the procedure, we received a bill that said our insurance declined payment, and we have to pay the whole portion of the procedure. I was very frustrated for the wrong coding and the incorrect info given on the preauthorization. I'm thinking of changing dentist because I dont feel I can trust their billing department. read more
