We were visiting Erie and enjoying breakfast at a local diner (Gem City Dinor") that had been recommended to us the night before. Nice place, and I commented to our server that "I wish I could make coffee this good at home." She smiled and pointed out North Edge across the street - she said that was where they get their coffee from (Indonesian Bali Blue Moon). So we wandered over after breakfast and enjoyed talking with the staff there while getting educated a little on coffee roasting and brewing. We walked out smiling with a few bags of coffee and a handful of accessories, including one of their mugs. All-in-all, a great place to visit if you're a coffee lover!

Not only they serve variety of freshly brewed coffee for you to choose from, I also tried the hot latte and it tasted good, if I remember it correctly, they use the 'Black Pearl' coffee bean for all espresso drinks. 'Breakfast with Elvis' is the most popular for regular brew there, according to the staff. They have a wall packed with coffee beans and they offer 20+ kinds of beans to choose from, from single origins, organic to specialty coffee. Breakfast bagels, cupcakes and cookies are offered there along with fruit smoothies if you are only dragged there by your coffee lover friends, but you prefer something else. There are 2 rooms for customers to enjoy food and drinks there with the cozy coffeeshop vibes. I would definitely go back there again to try different brews and lattes. Every weekend we try to hit…read moreup a new local coffee shop, and on this morning we happened to be going to the Crawford County Fair, so we stopped at French Creek Coffee and Tea on the way. This shop is located in downtown Meadville right on Chestnut Street and close to Diamond Park Square. The shop itself is both cute and spacious. It has a display case full of pastries, a counter to order from, and plenty of seating. Towards the back are bathrooms and a small area for children to color. You can also see a roaster through some plexiglass. I wasn't sure if they actually used it, but it was still cool to see it there. For my coffee on this morning I went with one of their specialty lattes, a hot BNB, while my wife went with an iced mocha. The menu described mine as sweet cream butter and brown sugar melted together to make an extra rich, extra creamy, mildly sweet latte. As my drinks were being made, the fluffernutter scone also caught my attention, so I purchased it after the fact. It was still the first thing that I ate, though, and I thought it was pretty good. The marshmallow was on top, and while it was sticky, it was a nice addition to the somewhat indulgent peanut butter scone underneath it. The scone definitely packed a large peanut butter punch, although it was on the drier side, even for a scone. After that I was able to try my coffee and thought that it was pretty flavorful. The coffee itself was bold and came through strong and beautifully. The butter and brown sugar flavors were a bit muddled, though. If anything, the extra creaminess, which almost felt like a silky cream, was probably the biggest contribution from the butter. My wife did enjoy hers, especially the chocolate and coffee flavors coming through. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I love that Meadville has this charming coffee shop, and I will be back for both coffee and baked goods.

This is also the location that I suspect most people don't even know exists. This is a mixed blessing. I mean, it's good as this location doesn't have much indoor seating so if a lot of people show up it could cause issues. On the other hand, this place is just wonderful and it's a shame that more people don't know about it. The size will be less of an issue in warm weather as they have a large patio which I suspect will be amazing for people watching. The cafe itself is really nice - it's an o0ld heritage building and it's a clear that special attention was paid to preserving as much of the original architectural design as possible. While the menu is a little limted, on top of coffee and lattes (my faves) they also have tea, wine, local craft beer and a selection of baked goods. I would also be remiss to not mention that the Old East Grocer is in fact at this same location. It is a grocery store that provides a much-needed oasis is this food desert and also strives to make a social impact is many aspects. Their is also a food incubation space where Fire Roasted actually roasts their coffee and a number of other food-related businesses have set up shop. Sadly few have been open when I've visited but it's an amazing and unique place -- well worth checking out. It's in the Old East Village, past Adelaide St, and they're really revitalizing this area and I think it's wonderful, this establishment is located in an old warehouse, which was turned into Fire Roasted and the Old East Grocer. I came this afternoon for a Yelp event and I brought my mom. We parked in the back, since there wasn't any parking on the road, which was fine, you just have to pay to park. We walked into the place and Fire Roasted is on the left and the grocers is straight ahead. Smaller café, but there were plenty of tables and chairs available for our small event! I had ordered two small coffees for my mother and myself and we tried the bagel bombs they had, jalapeno, and garlic & bacon, both of which were delicious. I believe all the food items are outsourced, but they are delicious nonetheless. The actual Roasting plant is in the back of the building, I took a walk down to see what it looked like, and it was really interesting to see how they do it. This is such a unique building, and how they've renovated it to help revitalize the whole east end is amazing, bringing in the local business to help this area thrive again. I'll definitely be sure to come back, the ambience is wonderful, and the coffee is delicious.

I loved how it was arranged by themes. I stumbled upon a table with bird-themed books and found a delightful poetry book of birds aptly named The Book of Bird Poems. On top of their book selection they have several cute stickers, hats, candles and assorted bookish knickknacks to enhance your reading experience. I'm very glad I was able to drop by.
