The event was at Mankin Mansion and the owner did several onsite visits, met with the bride and groom as needed in advance, and made the night flow amazingly well. I used to cater A LOT of weddings and this was one of the very few times I've been on the sit back and enjoy myself side of things so it was easy for me to have an eye for good service. They set up multiple bars that knocked drinks out quickly (despite the fact that the groom and I went overboard and nearly provided every possible drink). During the partially served, partially self served dinner they were quick to refill table drinks, clear plates, etc... Best of all at the end of the night when it was the groomsmen's responsibility to load the ridiculous amount of cases of booze back into my truck their staff didn't even hesitate to offer to help haul the boxes across the grounds to the parking lot. I would recommend this company to anyone... seriously. Years of experience catering and this was amazing.

We had looked at at least 15 different caterers before landing on Sophisticated Soiree's - we are foodies but the sky wasn't the limit financially so we had a pretty exhaustive search before finding Andrea and her team. Andrea is great to work with, a talented chef and and created delicious, beautiful and unique food for far less than vendors in our immediate area. Andrea came to multiple meetings at our site to discuss menu's and was willing to constantly tweak the menu until it was just right. Our guests were delighted with the food and the servers noted that every plate came back clean- a rarity in the catering world. Speaking of service- it was also impeccable, smooth and well organized. A benefit of working with Andrea is she has strong contacts PartyRentalsVA and we had a real team working with us and the rentals team (Patrick) worked hand in hand with us and Andrea to ensure our vision was complete. The wedding was truly stunning. I would absolutely use Sophisticated Soiree's again.

For a 32,000+ square foot mansion (that was originally built as a single family private home) the space is immaculately and meticulously clean and maintained to the highest standard. I did not see a single speck of dust, no cobwebs on the soaring ceilings, or stain on any upholstery. The mansion also did not feel austere or cavernous despite its size; on the contrary, it is absolutely bursting with some of the most beautiful, unique, and at times strange but wonderful decor. For example, the game room has both billiards as well as an extensive and exotic big game taxidermy collection, whereas the adjacent two-story library boasts a hand carved fireplace and a spiral wrought iron staircase. I spent most of my evening exploring every room and trying to take in as much as possible. The multitude of staff who serviced our event were both warm in their interactions as well as discreet when necessary. The in-house catering was also very good. We had a tortellini station, a raw bar, breads and spreads, as well as passed hors d'oeuvres and a dessert station, and I enjoyed everything I tried. My only regret is that Dover Hall doesn't seem to do open house hours or guided tours, because I would love to be able to return and see more of this remarkable building.
