Great selection, and friendly workers. Got everything we needed in a one stop shop. Firewood burned so well.

Sol Foods - Homemade tacos from groceries at Sol Foods

Sol Foods is a good stop for groceries while vacationing in Springdale. Conveniently located near…read moreZion, it offers a good selection of items despite its relatively small size. They have a variety of premade foods available, or you can order items to go. Be sure to try the salads and sandwiches--they are both fresh and delicious. The market is also a convenient place to pick up groceries to take back to your hotel suite or Airbnb if you'd rather prepare your own meals. Parking: Parking is limited. There is street parking available, as well as an underground garage with approximately 15-20 spaces. That said, I imagine many visitors simply walk to the market due to its central location. Note: Don't be surprised by some of the prices. Many everyday items cost more than you might expect, which is fairly typical for a small market in an isolated tourist town. The added convenience and location near Zion are reflected in the pricing. Overall: A convenient market for grabbing groceries, prepared foods, or picnic supplies during your stay in Springdale.

Sol Foods kind of reminds me of a Trader Joes, where a lot of things here felt very intimate and…read morebrands are limited, but selection is not. We wanted to pick up some things for a home taco night, and was able to find everything we needed here. From tortillas to taco seasoning, to ground beef, eggs, sour cream, pico, and guac. We got enough for taco dinners and breakfast tacos. It came out to approximately $100, which split between four people and two meals, that's a steal! There's a parking garage below the store, and you can take the stairs to head in. The store also sells other items that you might need for hiking and going into the park. If you go for name brand products, you might find the store to be expensive. We went for store brand products which cut a good chunk of our cost! I.e. eggs were ~$3 store brands vs. $7 name brand. Good grocery store for a quick pick ups!

If you find yourself on Highway 89 to or from Kanab, there's a stop you'll definitely want to make…read morea stop at a great stop near Mt. Carmel Junction. White Mountain Trading Post calls itself a gas station/convenience store/gift shop. Oh, sure, they're exceptional in all those things, but they are TOTALLY underselling their own awesomeness. I've been hankering for a quality cowboy hat the whole trip: WMTP wins over the rest in quantity, quality (plenty of Stetsons), and low prices. They have some amazing jewelry: Bracelets, earrings, rings, necklaces, etc. The focus is Native American: Hopi, Navajo, Zuni, and Santa Domingo Pueblo artists have brought an incredible amount of quality goods to the WMTP. They've got a helluva a lot of leather, and a helluva lot of that is in belts, cowboy hats, boots, and vests. We had been to several "trading post" stores on our trip through the Southwest. I think it speaks volumes to the WMTP's quality is that this was the place my wife bought the most jewelry. She loves turquoise, and if you do, you'll be in heaven. Or Turqeaven, if you want to call it that. If White Mountain Trading Post was JUST a gift shop, it would still be five stars. Route 66 key chains, magnets, pens, patches, posters, mugs, signs, license plates, etc. SO. MUCH. GREAT. STUFF! If you're into taxidermy, well, more power to you. You'll like the White Mountain Trading Post. BE SURE TO GO TO THE WEBSITE! They have coupons for the gift shop (20%), gas, and the neighboring Subway. Great Caesar's ghost, it's a helluva Trading Post!

Watch out if you get gas here! They charge nearly a dollar more for 87 octane, which is the…read morestandard fuel that most cars are required to use. So the listed price that you see for "regular" is not the price you will pay. The pump I was using conveniently did not have the digital display showing how much the different prices were. I've never seen a price difference like this and it's clearly set up to rip people off.
