The teachers are kind, warm-hearted, and very attentive to the children. My daughter was always happy to go to daycare, which as a parent says so much. I loved that their days were filled with a great variety of activities -- learning through games, cooking activities, creative projects in the classroom, and plenty of active play outdoors. She was always busy, engaged, and excited to tell me about her day. I was also very happy with the food they provided. My daughter loves to eat, so this was definitely important to us! She always came home full and happy, and I really appreciated the variety of meals and snacks offered throughout the day. After two years, we are leaving with so many warm memories. It's a wonderful feeling to know that your child is spending her day in a place where she feels happy, comfortable, cared for, and loved. A big thank you to all the teachers and staff for everything you've done for our daughter!

This was his first daycare experience, and Shusha took him in and treated him as her own. His language and social skills blossomed right away. He had always been a very picky eater, but he loved Ms Mariam's cooking, and was always trying new and unexpected foods for the first time. Shusha was so loving and even went out of her way to personally help feed him on the days he struggled. We have since moved, and our son is now five years old. We have since attended three other wonderful schools with our two boys, but none of them compare to Shusha's school. For a nervous mom sending her son to school for the first time, it felt as if we were sending him to a warm, loving relative's home to play for the day. We still see the amazing activities she plans on social media, and think fondly of our son's time there. We are so grateful to Shusha and her team to have had the perfect first school experience.

I am giving 5 stars wishing I could give 10!…read more My daughter has been with First steps since she was 6 months old (she is now almost 3) and we absolutely LOVE it!!!! Finding childcare is such a daunting task, and I will be the first to admit that being a teacher, I am overly (annoyingly) knit-picky about finding the right place. It was important to me that my child was eating healthy and organic foods, learning social skills, kindness, and academically learning as well, all in a clean and safe environment. Well First steps has it all, and more! My daughter will be three in a month, and she is potty-trained (yes you read right), using full sentences, and independent and full of personality, yet polite and kind. She knows her colors, can count to 20, can sing the National anthem, and can speak phrases in multiple languages (French, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Tagalog, German)! It really is unbelievable. Miss Mangala is trained in the Montessori teaching method, and it shows with the kids. My daughter even understands and practices recycling! It's adorable!!! We love her so much that we canceled our plans to put her into a Montessori preschool because I'm confident that this is the best place for her! I have no doubt she'll be more than ready for Kinder coming from First Steps. What I see and love is that Mangala - and her amazing assistant GNana -love and adore each kid individually. When I come to pick my kid up and see others leaving with their parents, I see the attention she gives each child. And it's not an act. When my daughter arrives, she runs to Mangala and gives her a big hug- same when we leave. Just today when we were walking from the front door, my daughter said, "Bye Mangala! I love you! See you tomorrow!" Then followed it up with, "I had such a great day!" I am actually quite upset to read the bad review. And I don't usually do this, but I feel compelled to speak on it because they are so amazing and I would hate for a mommy to read a disgruntled review and miss the amazing experience there for their child. Miss Mangala has ALWAYS notified me of the daycare closing -which is very seldom, btw- WELL in advance, and multiple times before it actually closes. If there is ANYONE out of the ordinary there, she notifies and asks me first. The only time it was anyone other than a worker, it was her son. She made sure I met him and was comfortable, even though he was only there for a brief time, in a room far from the kids AND he was fingerprinted anyway! Regarding any kind of bruises, It's hard for me to believe if there were any that she a) caused them or b) didn't notice them. If my daughter has even the tiniest bruise or scratch, they notice and they ask me. If she has even a little fall or trip, they tell me. As a teacher and mother, I appreciate this very much. (Even though sometimes it's a teeny scratch or paper cut. She notices them all! Lol! And personally, if I was unhappy with my daycare in any way, I surely would not keep my child there for more than a year. Oh, and First Steps has a waitlist too. Every family that I have ever referred has been ecstatic with the care- and some are still waiting to get in. Again, I don't mean this as a review to speak ill of anyone. In fact it is to do the opposite. Miss Mangala is such a loving and kind human being that opens her school to so many different amazing families. I'd hate for the negative frustrations of a parent's paperwork filings to fall on her. Mommies and daddies- go for a visit and see for yourself. I promise you, you'll discover your babies' loving home away from home.

Over the years, we watched her become more confident, independent, curious, and social. She learned so much academically, but just as importantly, she developed the social and emotional skills that have prepared her so well for her next chapter. Susha, Mrs. Miriam, Roxy and the entire staff always made Busy Little Bee feel like a warm, loving, and supportive environment. It gave us tremendous peace of mind knowing that our daughter was surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her and were invested in her development. She was always happy to go to school, which says just about everything you need to know. We're incredibly grateful to everyone at Busy Little Bee for the role they played in these formative years. It's bittersweet to move on, but we couldn't have asked for a better daycare and preschool experience. Highly recommend!

She always came home clean, fed, and happy, and there were never any injuries or health concerns. I couldn't believe how they had my daughter wearing a hat outside and sleeping in a crib--this helped a lot to create good habits at home, too. The daycare is immaculate, and all the toys are in excellent condition. I'm picky about what my daughter eats, and their menu is great--very healthy. I also love that I never had to worry about sending food with her. Most importantly, the teachers are caring and warm. My daughter LOVED them. They have a system where parents aren't really allowed in the main daycare area except on rare occasions. At first I was skeptical about this, but having experienced it the other way at her new daycare, I think it's actually wise. After a short-lived adjustment period (my daughter's pretty social, so this was only 3 days in her case), she basically never cried again. I would carry her to the front gate, and she would all but LEAP into her teacher's arms, so excited to go play inside. I think it helped that the precedent was clear: if you want to go play with your friends, teachers, and toys inside, you have to say bye to your parents. She often didn't even want to leave school when I came to pick her up; she wanted to stay and watch all the other kids get picked up by their parents. And if she saw her teacher walking home, she would beg me to go over so she could interact with her some more. Anyway, we loved Busy Little Bee, and I'm sure you will, too.

My daughter attended Tiny Thinkers beginning in December 2020 and remained there through age four, so this review reflects several years of experience rather than a brief enrollment. There were many things I genuinely appreciated about Tiny Thinkers. Ms. Jana, Ms. Delilah, Ms. Alejandra, and many of the teachers in the younger classrooms were incredibly kind, patient, and caring. Ms. Alejandra even helped potty train my daughter, and I will always be grateful for the love and support she showed our family. Those positive experiences are the reason this review is difficult to write. Unfortunately, our experience changed as my daughter got older. Around age four, she cried every day at drop-off. At the time, I assumed it was simply separation anxiety. Even now, over a year later, she still tells me she doesn't want to go back because "Ms. Lupe was mean to me." She brought it up again just yesterday, completely on her own. For context, my daughter is autistic and high-functioning. She is verbal, was successfully potty trained while attending Tiny Thinkers, and did not have significant behavioral issues such as aggression toward staff or other children. Like many young children, she sometimes struggled with transitions and occasionally needed extra patience and emotional support. What concerned me most was how those moments seemed to be handled. I often felt that when she struggled, the response was to remove her from an activity rather than help teach her through it. One example that has stayed with me was when she had difficulty sharing the soccer ball. Instead of being coached through taking turns and learning the expectations of the game, she was simply no longer allowed to participate. I understand preschool teachers manage busy classrooms and difficult situations every day, but I had hoped for a more nurturing, teaching-focused approach. Initially, my daughter attended Tiny Thinkers for part of the day while also attending a public school special day class. When that program changed, we had to find another full-time placement. At the time, it felt incredibly stressful, but looking back it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. She flourished almost immediately after transitioning. She now loves going to school and summer camp, participates happily, has grown tremendously socially and emotionally, and no longer cries at drop-off. Watching that transformation made me reflect differently on our experience and realize she simply needed an environment that was a better fit for how she learns and develops. I know every child is different, and many families may have a wonderful experience here, especially in the younger classrooms. However, if your child is neurodivergent or benefits from additional patience, flexibility, and emotional support, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions about how those needs are handled. I truly wanted to leave another glowing review because there are wonderful teachers at Tiny Thinkers who made a positive impact on our family. But knowing what I know now, I would make a different choice for my daughter, and I hope sharing our experience helps other parents find the environment that's the best fit for their child.

Ms. Irma, the owner, and Ms. Ala, her assistant, are incredible caretakers who truly love what they do. My son started with them right when he turned 12 months and they both guided us through a great process of adapting to their care. I wanted a place that was small and where my son could socialize and learn, after spending his first full year at home with us. We looked for daycares for months and all were either too big for our taste with 20+ kids and lots of teachers or the small ones felt too informal. This place is a great size with just up to 7 kids that start from ages 1 year until they are ready for school. They have a classroom where they learn, have activities, nap, and also an outside area where they play. Irma and Ala keep it very clean, no one can come into the space (you are greeted at the outside gate due to health protocols) they are mindful of hygiene and make sure everyone is healthy, which is important when you are dealing with kiddos. Communication is key, and Irma sends constant texts and keeps you informed as the day progresses with the cutest pictures of the kids in their activities that range from painting or playdough, or even cooking (safely, of course). I have seen my son flourish in their care and loved that they have different ages as my baby has learned so much from the older kids as well. Every day he comes home with a new word or skill and is so happy and full of energy (and clean!) Their approach is very loving and caring, my son loves to go and gets excited as we head out every morning saying his little friends' names. You can expect home-style breakfast & lunch as well as snacks, they keep a schedule so you know what to expect as far as food + naps but are open for pickup any time as long as you don't interrupt activities.
