The campground was clean, the spaces are not cramped together and more than a few have lake views. There is running water, pit toilets, and steps down to the lake, and each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spot. A few are against the forest, some are in the middle of the site, and the others kind of by the lake (these were my favorite, nothing like waking up in the morning and looking out on a clear blue body of water). Overall I was very happy with this campground, it seemed underused, which was kind of surprising given the beauty and quietude of the area. My only complain was that it had a lot of yellow jackets that wanted to eat my lunch more than I did. Bring spray or something, you're probably going to want it. Or maybe it was just my site, who knows. You can fish in the lake, it's stocked with trout. The water also seemed very clean, I almost went for a swim (it wasn't that cold either). There is also a day-use area, so you can just picnic or fish if you feel like it. To get here you have to drive down S Stephan Bridge Rd and will then take a left - keep your eyes peeled for the sign. There is also a sign on MI-72 which will point you in the right direction.

There is a host on site through the summer season, a guy who's been doing it for twenty-some years, and he's always a pleasure to talk to, especially about fishing and other recreation in the area. There is a very tiny stretch of sand and two long docks to access crystal clear, shallow water that seems to go on forever. Perfect for little kids! The downside is the people in the other cabins are constantly walking by to access the water so there is no privacy whatsoever. The people were very nice and friendly so it wasn't too bad. The Brass Bell is a very cute, nicely decorated, updated, teeny tiny cabin. I think it's worth the price considering it's right on the water, but it wasn't comfortable for our family of four. Thankfully, our kids are little (4 and 8) or it would have been unbearable. There wasn't a single closet or anywhere to put clothes or a suitcase. We stored the kids clothes in the tv entertainment cabinet and our clothes on the floor of the tiny bedroom! Suitcases had to be stored in the car. Also, the full sized bed was so squeaky, you couldn't even change position without waking up the other person. I hope the owner considers getting a new bed. It was horrible. The exterior/deck was very dirty with sand, dirt and spider webs everywhere!! Needed a good power washing. We didn't even use the kayaks because they were so gross with spider webs. The cabin is a great price for the location but more appropriate for 1-2 people, not a family.

In Yelp we didn't trust, and we regretted it. While passing through Grayling, a local suggested…read morethat we go either to Bennethums or the Ridge for dinner. He said that the Ridge was probably just as good and maybe a little better, but a little cheaper. We eagerly looked at the Yelp reviews and noticed that Bennethum had very good reviews, four and a half stars, and this place had no reviews. Since this was closer to the place we were staying, we decided to try it. The atmosphere was nice, a typical golf course type restaurant, and the service was good. We ordered the two specials: Friday Cod and flash fried perch. My husband added on a side salad and asked for the seasonal vegetable instead of fries. Our food arrived fairly quickly; however, it was very greasy. The flash-fried perch looked deep-fried, and the fries were soaked in grease, think McDonalds. The coleslaw that came with the meal was good, but the salad and brussel sprouts were average. When we received the bill, we discovered that we were charged $4 for the salad, which was high for a little lettuce, cucumbers snd tomatoes, and $2 extra for the brussel sprouts. However, the waitress told us that it was a mistake and took the $2 off. Since we made a comment that the food was greasy, they were kind enough to give us a beer for free. However, it didn't erase the greasy taste from my mouth. I usually don't write Yelp reviews, but since this is the first time this place has been reviewed, I felt people should be aware of where they were going. They may have a lot better food than the specials we got that day (although I heard somebody at the table next to me comment that the burger was overcooked), but we won't be back. We wish we would have chosen the tried-and-true.

We called and emailed numerous times to get ahold of someone since the code to our cabin wouldn't work either. We were late checking in by the time we could get ahold of someone. Then the lights in the kitchen wouldn't work. We found a blown fuse but then ran into issues with the fireplace downstairs that the switch didn't work on. This continued with finding no light bulb in a lamp to the upstairs shower not working. 12 people had to use 1 shower! We called and the only person available to assist was at the bar. He finally came over that night and said he'd get us a discount. Then we get to the clubhouse and the sauna is out of order and the hot tub was dirty. We asked for some cleaning to be done so we could use it and no one would answer again. Since leaving that weekend, we never got a discount and never heard back from anyone despite repeat calls! They won't even answer phone calls and still no response to my email from check in.
