Heather Mills Photography - Branding Portraits

Picked up my first set of professional branding shots from Heather Mills last month--14 rather than…read morethe 6 I'd planned for. So glad I splurged! Heather brings not only an amazing team, skill, and professionalism to her work--she brings fun! And that fun is EVERYTHING when it comes to looking relaxed, real, and joyful. Here's why I'm grateful I made a bigger investment in her work: Author and productivity expert Michael Hyatt says content designed to include compelling images can average 94% more total views than words alone. 94%! Today I put together the powerpoint for a video which will be the foundation for my new sales strategy. I used 8 of the photos in that presentation. It's great to have more options! This video is the fulcrum where clients will decide if they want to chat with me. The more clients that say YES to the energy in those photos, the more clients I'll have chats with. More folks attracted to the presentation means more overall clients after a live chat. Just ONE client will pay the bill for my chosen photos. My business coach is completely wow'ed by the affect. "These shots are gorgeous! They totally align with your message," she says. "I kept leaning in and asking myself if they might be AI, but I can see that they're *you* through and through." Worth the investment? You betcha. Thanks Heather and team for an outrageously fun photo shoot and images that will warm my heart and fill my bank account for years to come!

It seems a huge shame that a few reviews might scare people away from Jay's excellent work! He's…read moreabsolutely a five-star wedding photographer and was wonderful to work with. I admit, I was nervous after we sent an inquiry for our wedding based on his beautiful website portfolio, and then noticed he had such mixed ratings on Yelp and The Knot. We didn't have any referrals to go off of. Thankfully, the strength of his photos made us continue on. From looking at his website, we thought his compositions and choices were a cut above every other photographer we looked at. He had a semi-journalistic style (candidly capturing the action like you're there) that we both loved. My now-husband was set on him if at all possible. We asked him upfront about the negative reviews, and he was very calm and non-defensive about our hesitations and shared his thoughts on what may have happened. Our impression was that there were some extenuating circumstances of the reviews (and the same handful posted on multiple sites). Also, although he didn't say this, it seems that he doesn't spend his time being a salesman, for the most part. He didn't have slick vibes and hasn't bothered to polish his Yelp/platform image or solicit reviews -- he never nudged us for one, although other wedding vendors did. His approach may be because he gets work through word of mouth in his home city of Eugene, OR and doesn't bill himself as just a wedding photographer: he also photographs maternity, portraits, and other types of photography. He clearly does a lot of work and doesn't ask for reviews or he would have a lot of positive reviews! From our experience, Jay is authentic, highly skilled, professional, and reliable. The one thing that may bug a few people is he is not always the fastest communicator via email when he gets busy, but we thought he was speedy where it counted. His contract was reasonable and his rates were also very reasonable for a photographer of his caliber. He also put a lot of thought into building buffer in his travel, which I appreciated because there's a little more concern about flight delays when working with an out-of-town photographer. We flew him out first for an engagement shoot with us in San Francisco and he didn't charge us anything more beyond the travel expense (it was included in the package we selected). This served as a way to get to know each other before the big day -- highly recommend an engagement shoot for any wedding photographer you choose. He made us very comfortable and gave gentle guidance about how to pose for the best effect. During COVID times, he respectfully wore a mask. He was really generous with his time and very open to the kinds of shots we were hoping for, in multiple locations. We re-shot our proposal, which was originally done when we were alone, and he really captured the emotion. Before the day, he was also very encouraging of coming as we were and taking shots that felt like us -- I went with dressy jeans and a meaningful t-shirt in some shots and a nice sweater in some others. He made an album of so many wonderful shots. I was a little stressed out on our wedding day that I'd asked to do so many different group portrait shots, but in the end I was glad I had. Jay was detail-oriented and tracked to make sure we got every portrait and group photo on our list. He had people fix their ties, hair, and accessories before the photos, and kept people talking and laughing while he snapped. He was very flexible to what we wanted with just enough suggestions/tips for where to put one's hands, legs, etc. All the guests seemed very comfortable with him and were impressed by his affability and observational skills. He got so many shots of us and our guests having a great time that we love. He had an eye for dramatic moments and framing without us having to say anything specifically. We also generally asked him to get some pictures of the scenery, atmosphere and tables and he came through with great artistic shots that preserved some areas of the wedding we hadn't even seen. Amazingly, he came right from another wedding the previous day, and on 3.5 hours sleep he completely killed it. He didn't even tell us, but one of my husband's groomsmen (who was operating our video camera and thus a photography insider) found out that Jay got a lens error during the ceremony kiss and immediately dropped the camera and picked up his other one and got the shot! This is the pro level you pay for. Jay also went above and beyond, Photoshopping some pictures of our family members who had to wear masks for our event--after thoughtfully preparing substitute photos with the same lighting on the day--so they could safely have key group pictures of themselves without masks. Got our well-curated photo set back within 4 months, which was shorter than some of my friends' experiences, and we will treasure it always. We felt super lucky to have Jay as our wedding photographer and would recommend him to anyone!

So I found Kari Renee Photography through an ad on Facebook. She was giving a promotion for $1,000…read morefor just her as my wedding photographer and a 2nd photographer for about another $500. I also paid an additional $200 to have her come a couple hours sooner to take some pictures during my traditional string ceremony we have before the church service. This is a very great deal for two photographers and after reviewing her website: https://www.karireneephotography.com/ the pictures looks great to me so I got her booked. Throughout the month, we have communicated to ensure we are both on the same page and she had me send her a schedule of everything that we need the photographer. The day PRIOR to my wedding, she said she had a family emergency and cannot make it to the wedding, but per contract, she found a replacement. To me, that was fine about finding a replacement and I understand there being a family emergency, but I asked her if the replacement is still able to arrive a couple hours early to take pictures during my string ceremony since I paid her already and she wasn't sure. I asked if the 2nd photographer is able to attend early and she advised she hasn't secured a 2nd photographer but she is working on it! This really got me stressed as the 2nd photographer is not secured and now I may not be able to have a photographer for my string ceremony...I consistently checked my messages throughout the day as I'm preparing for my wedding and finally I get a message to confirm a photographer can attend my string ceremony and a 2nd photographer is secured! She asked me for the wedding day schedule again so I resend it, not a big deal... The day of my wedding, the photographer did show up for the string ceremony, and I asked the replacement photographer if she will be there for the ceremony at the church which she said yes. After the ceremony, I realized NO PHOTOGRAPHER SHOWED UP! I was very upset as I had my mom and grandma involved during the ceremony and I wanted to get some professional pictures of them as my grandma is starting to lose her memory! I was very upset about this as I now have not gotten any professional pictures during my entire ceremony even though I confirmed with the photographer that she would be there about an hour prior before the start of the ceremony! I messaged Karee about this and checked up on it and said there was a miscommunication with the photographers! She said the replacement photographer will "make it up" to me by working from 3-9pm at the reception instead of 3-7pm which I was confused about because I have paid to have both photographers there for the entire reception until 9pm...I was already going through so many stress during my wedding and that I didn't care to argue...I told my other friends about my experience who are photographers and all of them advised that if they made a mistake this big of missing my wedding, that they would reimburse me which I wasn't offered any type of compensation at all. I also found out that it was the 2nd photographer that should have been the one to take my wedding pictures and not the 1st photographer... Fast forward months later, Karee offered me a free photoshoot for anywhere I like and I assumed it was to make up for a photographer missing my wedding ceremony. I gladly accepted and asked if I can actually gift it to my friend who is pregnant to do a maternity and new born photoshoot. Karee advised those shoots require more work so there will be a fee but the offer was $400 which was an amazing deal but my friend would have to drive from Vancouver, WA to Eugene to do the shoot which my friend accepted. My friend booked a hotel, bought the maternity outfit, and had everything planned to go pick up her daughter. Then on the day of the shoot, my friend calls me crying and advised that Kari cancelled a few hours before her shoot! Before the shoot, my friend said Kari asked if she is able to change the photoshoot date as it was her birthday...my friend said she cannot change it as she needed the shoot be on that specific date she wanted (which is why I confirmed prior before giving Kari contact information to my friend if she was available to do it...) Even with the bad experience though, my wedding pictures turned out to be amazing; but it would just be if you would like to take a chance on somebody cancelling on you last minute or nobody showing up.
