Kicking on since 1973, Hans Music Spot is the local spot for musical instruments, sheet music and CD's in Croydon. Stocking entry-level guitars, drums, and other assorted instruments, the gear here isn't exactly pro-level stuff, however it's good for those wanting to start playing an instrument and in need of something on a budget. The service is good too, as you can feel free to wander around and have a look without being hassled by staff intent on increasing their weekly commission. Stocking accessories such as strings, leads and more, you'll find their prices can easily be beaten by purchasing online, however if you're one who enjoys the "old style" shopping experience one gets when physically going into a store, Hans is a reminder of how music stores were before they all had the same name and were run by the same company. read more

I don't think it is possible for me to love this place anymore than I currently do. It is the kind of shop that doesn't feel like a shop at all. It is more like a meeting place with great chilled out vibes. There are always people in here playing music, testing guitars or just chatting with the staff about music. You can pick up free music mags like Beat and Impress among others. There is a heap of great stock here including some damn sexy guitars. I fell in love with a SX Bass guitar. At only $269 it was reasonably priced too. They also sell music books, pick holders, coloured microphones, distortion pedals, amp stands, bonga racks, and cheapies for kids like whistles and Agogo Blocks. In terms of instruments they also have saxophones, pianos, keyboards, flutes, clarinets, trumpets, accordions, harmonicas, drums and violins. Any muso will absolutely be in heaven in this store. I promise. read more

If you are a local, (and in Croydon - who isn't ?) then this is the only place for you to go for gear and lessons. The guys, Peter (mgr) and Alex ( guitar teacher) are easy to get along with and they make it very accessible to get started... Even if you have been across music ( all types ) you will find something of interest here... Han's Music Spot - it hits the spot... read more

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE The owner is the rudest person I have met in retail. I was trying to browse the sheet music when a man stood over me making me feel very uncomfortable. He then started accusing me of being a thief and taking photos of the sheet music, when all I was trying to do was work out which one was best for my needs. Nobody asked me if I needed assistance. The rude man watched me imagine I was playing; instead of offering me to have a quick go in store like many other shops. (I would have just been happy to look at the books without being accused of being a thief). If you have any respect for yourself, do not shop in this store because the owner will just defame your character to everyone that will listen. read more

Do not get any repairs done here, they have no idea what they are doing. My guitar came back with twice as much wrong with it. And now sounds horrible, when i asked them why it makes such a horrible noise now they claimed it was already like that... they never played it before!! How would they know..I also got given a list of more problems they wanted to fix just to make more money off.. no way. Always get a second opinion, I have been told from a professional that it should have cost me a lot less to get fixed and they obviously messed around with parts they had no idea about. read more

I have had countless interactions with Peter and his staff at Hans over the past few years, being involved in a local Primary School with a strong music program. They provide all of our equipment and meet all of our department's needs, often going above and beyond to ensure we have exactly what is required in a timely manner. Furthermore, I always recommend Hans Music to families for their high quality instruments at competitive prices & excellent follow-up service. Not once have I been disappointed or left in the lurch with any request & I know I can rely on them to meet the demands of our school & clients... Most impressive! read more
